  1. We'll never know, but Fletcher injured his knee after 3 or 4 weeks at Wrexham and he's just had an operation that could keep him out till next year. The club took a chance on Moult last season and were slaughtered when it went wrong, so they were never going to chance that happening again. He's doing well in the Championship, but most of the teams he's facing are of a lower standard than the ones we're up against (if that's conceivable) and there are major concerns about him playing on artificial surfaces. Imagine we signed him and he couldn't play at Rugby Park or Almondvale. Mind you, none of that excuses the guys we did sign/re-sign.
  2. It's definitely more of an issue now. Last season, those goals would've got us the six to eight points. Assuming he gets more time, Kettlewell has a couple of weeks to come up with a way to stop us losing cheap goals and then hope the players can implement his plans. If either of them don't, he's done.
  3. Probably the #Relegation, relegation, Ole, Ole, Ole# part. It's a distinct possibility every season, and if you keep saying it every season, eventually you'll be right. Luckily for us, if you keep saying we won't win every week, eventually you'll be wrong.
  4. Our success last season wasn't just built on one guy discovering his shooting boots. The fact we stopped shipping goals meant we could win games 1-0 or 2-1. Now we can't seem to get started until we're 2 down - you can't score 8 goals in 5 games but come away with just 2 points. We've outscored half the teams in this league, including Hearts, but we can't beat any of them. It's pretty easy to see the first thing that needs done if we're gonnae give ourselves a chance of doing that, since we're clearly not going to find another KVV in January.
  5. Fair enough, obviously you don't hold him responsible for our current problems. But do you credit him in any way for last season's turnaround, or was it just down to one guy scoring goals?
  6. How many goals does any manager score? If you're going to blame Kettlewell for the current team playing so badly, he has to get some credit for the way things picked up last season.
  7. I've no objection to them getting dropped - I'm not sure why they were brought here in the first place/had their contract extended. It's the practicality of getting rid of them altogether in November I'm questioning.
  8. Next? You didn't answer either question. I'm not talking about the starting 11. You want those players out the door tonight. That means paying up the best part of 5 years worth of contracts to shift them, because they can't go anywhere else. And you think reducing our squad by 3 a couple of months before they can be replaced sounds like a good plan?
  9. How would you go about doing that, and who would you replace them with?
  10. I think he'll get till the Dundee game, but if the board are waiting to see what happens at Parkhead, they'd be as well pulling the trigger now.
  11. A Freudian slip. Which is also Martin Boyle's speciality.
  12. The Hearts fans are greetin about their team having no pace or creativity in it today, Naismith setting up for a draw and headed for the door. You'd struggle get a Rizla between most teams this season, and it seems to be the same when it comes to the attitude of fans.
  13. In fairness, you said we were beat days before the team was named.
  14. I'd say a) get back to keeping clean sheets or losing no more than one goal. Then b) might follow, as it often did last season.
  15. There should always be room for an adult conversation, but even if some kind of agreement were reached between the authorities and fan groups on the limited use of pyros in football grounds (we know that won't happen) I don't see it solving anything. I can just about remember doing daft stuff for the sole purpose of pissing folk off, and that has to be part of the appeal here. These groups obviously love the friction their actions create, whether it's between themselves and the police/government, the clubs they spend so much time and money supporting, or their fellow fans. The authorities' intransigence may do nothing to help the situation, but even if they bent over tomorrow, I think the loss of control you mention is inevitable. It's just a matter of when and where.
  16. From FIFA: "It is a handball offence if a player scores in the opponents’ goal: directly from their hand/arm, even if accidental, including by the goalkeeper; or, immediately after the ball has touched their hand/arm, even if accidental. Accidental handball that leads to a team-mate scoring a goal or having a goal-scoring opportunity will no longer be considered an offence" There is no unfair advantage aspect to it.
  17. Somebody is being paid to sit in a room and dream this crap up. Their approach to the laws of the game seems to be 'What haven't we tried yet?'
  18. Are you looking through the Hubble telescope?
  19. I've no idea if he was ever a decent striker - the Killie fans definitely had a laugh when we signed him. He can't possibly be as bad as he's looked but his confidence must be completely shot. Couldn't get a game down south, more than a year since his last goal, missed some great chances here early on and made such an arse of it last night Kettlewell singled him out. I feel kinda sorry for him, but the sooner he's away the better for both parties.
  20. The rule's ridiculous but simple - if the ball hits the goalscorer's hand or arm it's disallowed. Accidental doesn't come into it. Wilkinson knew it as soon as he scored.
  21. Poor as our striking options are, we're 6th top scorers in the league. You may want to look at the part our defence is playing in this run. Only Ross County have a worse record there.
