  1. the club has been running under the same principles for years. attempt to balance the books and have a fall back to cover short term shortfalls (formerly boyle, now the society). we are struggling now because of reduced TV, sponsorship and ticket income because of the rangers situation and the poor performance on the park. the board seems to have chosen a strategy which depends on putting out a top six team which won't work long term when the city clubs recover but should have been ok for this season. unfortunately the manager and players have let the club down and we are in for some hard times.
  2. Boyle has transfered his shares to a trust which the current directors control. Boyle has no say over what happens to his shares or any say over the running of the club. As I understand it the 60% share holding in the trust has to be sold for minimum £1.5m because his accountants have used the loss he suffered giving up the shares as a tax write off.
  3. Has anyone ever heard anything about Boyle holding security on the main stand before as it's new one on me? Or is the case that the 'asset finance company' mentioned in the letter is owned by Boyle and he received a security over the main stand for a £150,000 loan which would makes us a shitey wee mirror image of rangers?
  4. Can we afford to sack the manager? I'd say can we afford to lose in the Scottish cup on the 29th of November.
  5. Just read the letter. The only people who can force 'us away from community ownership' are the current directors and if they are doing such a poor job they have led us into insolvency they should either put in their own cash or walk. Boyle's role is also interesting. He holds a security over the main stand and the club seems to be saying they will use money raised from the support to pay him off. Combine that with the tax write off with his shares which has fixed the price of the club at can unreasonanly high value and he's not looking quite as heroic as he was in his vanity video a few years ago.
  6. The club started the society as a means to give Boyle an exit, he was trying to sell the club for years and there were no credible bidders. Look around Scottish football and there has barely been been a club sold in over decade, no one wants to buy in. I'll take news of a buyer with a pinch of salt until I see something concrete and a name. As for restructuring - the club has a turnover of £6m and less than 20 full time non football staff and you think we should get kmpg in?
  7. find out if nicky law has any cousins that fancy playing professional football?
  8. i thought clarkson's all round performance was impressive last week. the way he held the ball up and brought other players into play is something we have been lacking.

you have to wonder what his team mates think about him. it can't be good for morale.
  10. just do we have done in the past. advertise the job, pick the best candidate.
  11. the past three performances at perth have been amongst the worst i've ever seen so i'd be avoiding this one regardless. it's sad to say but we're the team others will be looking forward to playing at the moment. it's up to the team to step up and change that.
  12. a manager who thinks josh law is a football player. a manager who thinks frazer kerr can play wide right (and left). a manager who still rates bob mchugh enough to put him on. aye we need a new manager.
  13. another nothing performance. the fact that we look out of place in the weakest of top league in the history of scottish football is depressing. watching kerr, angol and law trying to create was awful. kerr is a defender asked to a job he isn't cut out for, angol has shown potential in the past but his confidence is gone and law is never a player at this level. lasley seems to have escaped the criticism he deserves over the last few weeks. he has had the pish ripped out him four games in a row and it's clear his legs have gone. giving him a two year contract was a massive mistake.
  14. if we take three doings in a row on TV he'll quit.
  15. league position isn't the defining factor. it comes down to assesing our squad and how we are performing in relation to resources our rivals have. we are where we are because stuart mccall has made a series of bad recruitment decisions and when you combine that with his easy come, easy go managerial attitude and lack of tactical nous it has left us in the shit. if we were in a relegation battle because our budget had cut dramatically or because other teams have improved significantly then the focus wouldn't be on the manager but that's not the case.
  16. the fact that we settled for a choice between either of the two of them is the mindset has put us firmly in a relegation battle.
  17. socialism between the owners of the teams to guarantee them a profit.
  18. in 2011/12 jennings and lasley were more than capable of competing in centre mid as a pair, the move to 4-5-1 looked to me to be a ploy to make nicky law the focal point of the team rather than have him on out the wing. even when we evetually switched back to 4-4-2 law got to play wherever he wanted.
  19. we've won two out of 13 games all season. we've played well a handful of times in 2014. we have been comprehensively outplayed by accies, thistle and dundee in our past three games despite their limited squads. we have three extremely difficult televised games coming up which could very well see us become a hibs-esque national laughing stock. i'm at a loss as to how things could be much worse than they actually are at the moment.
  20. there are five saturdays in january plus the new year's day fixtures so it would be a minimum of 6 anyway. 7 in a month is a lot but the international breaks probably make it a necessity. on the plus side there is no scottish cup so there won't be any inverurie/arbroath style multiple postponements.
  21. the scottish cup draw is in two weeks time and we'll be playing our 4th round tie on the 29th of november. we have 3 games before we stop for the next international break so it would make sense to me make the decision by then.
  22. Agreed. Shaun made a lot of mistakes last season but he made them because he was stepping up and trying to lead and set an example. Credit to everyone who heads up on friday.
  23. There's about 100 full time clubs in the UK and far more men that want to be managers than jobs. With McGhee, Gannon, Brown and McCall the club were able to identify what we needed and bring in the right candidate If we have to find a new manager it's an opportunity not a problem.
  24. I've just watched McCall's interview on Youtube. Apart from a couple of mentions of the fact that they are working "wednesday, thursday, friday" and talking about "maybe getting a 0-0 or 1-0" he was saying all the right things and by the look of him he realises the hole we're in. It was night and day from his previous post match interviews which were completely delusional. If he wants to be the Motherwell manager he needs to up his own effort and demand a lot more from the players.
