That’s because he’s always reactive, a step behind the play, and never the one making things happen.

He’s just did that again, another half chance and a terrible touch. he’s been rotten today. He’s not a player I dislike either but he’s been well off it today.

His parent club wasn’t a direct rival known as the rangers.Ā

My main gripe is that the central midfield is so important in this new set up and he’s going to miss games, it’s disruptive.
And has he really been good when he’s played for Rangers? The support I know havnt been that impressed? He did quite well in a European game and he started a cup game against a lower league side and he was hooked at half time?Ā
i’mĀ not convinced with youngsters from rangers anyway, I think they are cursed with a ā€œI’ve made it alreadyā€ attitude. Lowry went out on loan and was rotten, the boy Devine wasn’t great. I just don’t think they get good habits at rangers. Similar to youngsters at Celtic. Maybe that’s why they have such an appalling record at bringing in youthsĀ

    Anyway, I doubt it’ll happen!!

  3. Turnbull is a definite no go, I think he’ll be at Cardiff for another 2 years and see out his contract. Crazy money involved down there.

as for Rice, even if he does come and does well, he’d need removed any time we played Rangers, I just think it screws up team dynamics when we get a loanee from SPFL teams. Not just for those weeks he’s not allowed to play but a week or so after it when he gets back in the team.Ā

If we could sign him permanently great, I’d take him then but is he the type to take a drop in pay To kick start his career? I’m not so sure.

Vietnam flashbacks!!!!!! Gardiner v Hearts 😢

……. And Stevie Woods was a terrible keeper, only goalie I ever saw who made the goals look bigger for a striker…. but apparently a good coach and a decent guy.Ā

The story from the dressing room at the time was that the team were basically still playing Tomtom's way until Christmas, then McLeish put together the game plan and tactics for united away, we lost 6-1 and the wheels came off.

Jeez, I was at that game. I’m pretty sure we scored first that day? F@@ing freezing cold and a horrific game. I’m sure Stevie woods chucked in a few that day too.

Not sure who peem weir is addressed to that list Paul Kinnaird, Joe McLeod.  That was why Tommy never bought brother Jim a Christmas present.  He gave him a good few throughout the years 😜

Paul Kinnaird was an absolute loonball 🤣 I think he was drummed out of fir park as he owed everyone money due to gambling debts.
Peem weir is Jim Weir (not the Accies guy) Tommy signed him from a German 3rd division team and then fired him straight into a game v rangers and he was horrific. I’m sure he now drives taxis in lesmahagow? I may be wrong with that tho?Ā

Wee Tommy is obviously a legend for the Cup Win.

His first SPL season in particular, however, was an eye-bleeding park-the-bus system that still ended up with us in a relegation slot, saved only by league reconstruction.

If any other manager had a season like that now, he'd be out the door by Februrary.

Wee Tommy’s teams up until Bobby Russell arrived was utter torture to watch, he’d never have survived any more than a season these days. He bought some utter dross as well mostly cast offs from his brother lol Gardiner, Murray, John Reilly…Peem Weir… I could list about 20 to be fair. There were some right hummers.

To me McLeish was the worst manager we ever had when you look at his tenure as a whole. (And I was there for Wallace and McLeod)

I always felt McLeish was a lucky manager. He took on an excellent side from McLean and made them better for one season. I think the players did better in this season as they were a bit more relaxed as wee Tommy was a tyrant. He then made a few duff signings and seemed to lose any respect he had from the players in the first season. He was such a media darling tho and got away with murder.Ā

Worst? Probably Malpas or Kampman. I'll forever excuse Baraclough out of this conversation because of the playoffs...

I liked wee McCall as well, a really decent guy and a good manager for us but I have no doubt he’d have got us relegated if he was in charge of us in the play off games. He had a real fear of playing Rangers, the way he put out his sides against them was a disgrace actually. Not that I am saying he was Rangers minded when he was our manager but he did have a real fear factor about them.

Baraclough for all his faults went into those games really attack minded and went for them. I’ll always think favourably about him.

  10. Davie Hay, his side was what really took me from being a young Motherwell fan who liked going to fir park to one who loved going to fir park. His team was attacking and full of flair. I remember being devastated when he left.

worst? We’ve had a lot? Malpas is up there, Watson was only temp so he doesn’t really count but was awful. Jock Wallace was awful but undoubtedly a good manager in his time. Sadly Hammell wasn’t very good. But I’ll stick with Malpas, awful manager and the most depressingly dull guy we’ve ever employed.

  11. I have to say, the way Lennon has left the club absolutely oozes class. He’s made a wee video message, put stuff out there on social media and I now see his family have added stuff to social media too thanking the club and fans etc for everything.

When you see how some others have left, not so much us but other ā€œprovincialā€ teams, it’s a breath of fresh air. Should be held as an example to others how to leave a club….. the Ā£4.75m does help as well right enough 🤣

  12. Good luck to the lad, I hope he goes over there and becomes a star. It’ll be a tough one for him to start with no doubt but I think he’ll get there, he has a good work ethic and seems a grounded lad.

it’s great to see us sell a player to Seria A, it raises the club’s profile there and also here for any young players looking to be associated to a club that promotes giving youth a chance.

When he first arrived we still had George Burley. Remember Nijholt wearing the number five quite a bit. Back when shirt numbers meant something...

I think 90% of his games were at right back but I do have a memory of him playing in a sort of sweeper role from time to time. He was an excellent player, hard as nails and very good on the ball.
