  1. I also thought he had a reasonable game, apart from failing to book Hemming. He generally let play flow and didn't dish out any silly yellows for good tough and fair tackling. I've not seen a replay of the Vale booking, but it looked like a blatant dive in real-time, and the ref was right beside the incident.
  2. I thought the referee Matthew McDermid had a reasonable game yesterday but I was curious about his treatment of Hemming. He had a long word with him fairly early on in the game about blatant timewasting. Fair enough. However he then spoke to him again, but despite that Hemming simply refused to desist. Why not speak to him once and then bring out the yellow card. That would stamp out this practice. Any views on Vale's yellow card for diving? Not many refs issue them these days, despite it being a common malpractice.
  3. Take the point but that was a horrific shambles today. St Mirrens goal was on us. Halliday was brutal, and neither spittal or vale turned up. The passing all round was shocking. My lad is only 6& him and his mill utd team mates are putting better balls to feet than what i witnessed today. St Mirren, despite their lofty position were no better than us. Infact, i dare say if we had put some passes together we would walk through them quite easily. They are a strong workman like side but cant cope with crisp passing & a bit of guile. Gent - standout performer!
  4. Started the game quite well but St Mirren got a hold of the match and their goal had been coming when they got it. Thought the midfield of Zdravkovski and Halliday was really poor. There was a spell when pretty much every player made a mistake as soon as they got possession. Our launched balls up to Bair were predictable and although Bair and Vale combined later to get a goal they were pretty poor for most of the match. Much like the Aberdeen game we didn't really look like scoring and it was a bit of a surprise that we did. The one positive was that St Mirren didn't cause us too many problems considering we had a back three with two full backs in it. Draw was probably the right result but it was a tough watch for long spells.
  5. Suspect we’ll see Kelly, O’Donnell, Gent, McGinn, Mugabi, Casey, Miller (Davor if not fit), Halliday, Spittal, Vale & Bair. Expecting a 0-0 or 1-1 draw.
  6. My Starting 11 V St Mirren prediction Liam Kelly GK Stephen O’Donnell at LB Adam Devine at RB Dan Casey CB Bevis Mugabi CB Shane Blaney CB Davor in midfield Spittal Attacking Mid Bair and Vale up top Think Miller will be on be bench due to slight injury
  7. 3-1 for super well as we resume converting chances again after missing a bundle against Aberdeen. Bair, Vale and Bevis on the score sheet.
  8. I'm with you Grizzly but I'd have halliday and miller sitting with Spittal and vale behind bair. Vale looks as if he's got something. Davor and paton as back up gives us bit of depth in there.
  9. Very decent goal. Good play by Devine and good finish by Vale. A few things spring to my mind as being obvious about the current team/set up. 1) Kelly - being rested is no bad thing. This happened to Maxwell back in the day and he benefited from it. 2) Centre Halves - we don't have 3 good centre halves - so don't always play 3. 3) Devine and Gent both look very good in the wingback area play them both please. 4) Play both Bair and Vale - BUT when you bring on Obika -one of them needs to come off. They are not a good front 3. We've got more than enough goals in us to progress but we need to move away from being a soft touch for any set plays/crosses.
  10. It was good to see the likes of Devine, Vale, and Nicholson get some game time. Nicholson looks to be a real player and we'll need Vale to step up at some point. He looks big and very fast and took his goal well.
  11. The KVV ship has sailed, unfortunately. And in line with my views on the club having ambition, throwing thousands at KVV would be a bridge too far. We should focus on Theo and Moses, sign another striker, secure another Vale or Biereth to support them, and get the young lads either out on loan (eg. Ferrie) or onto the bench (eg. Ross) if ready after the summer.
  12. He has been very impressive. Would love to get him back next season. However, I suspect after the performances he has put in here a "higher level" loan will be likely. But given our success with Biereth and now Vale we should ve seen as a good destination for prospective loanees.
  13. I hope we don't have another saga ahead of us this summer about van veen possibly returning,I would like to see us put our efforts into getting vale back again if it was possible.
  14. Agree with almost everything, wouldn't put him ahead of Robbo as yet. SK learning all the time and obviously making mistakes...... Saturday starting line up one of them. But January recruitment looking not bad at all with Vale.... Devine..... Halliday and Nicolson all contributing. Fact we were disappointed in Saturday as top 6 chances almost gone shows we have improved since end of last year when it did look bleak ....COYW
  15. Im relatively happy with the business that we have done. Id have liked another striker, not necessarily KVV, but someone to replace Biereth would have been grand. Whether Vale will be that player remains to be seen, but I would still have liked a back up to cover for injuries. If we cant get anyone on the free market, I would certainly be considering recalling young Ferrie. He may not be ready, but sometimes needs must. Apart from that, I think Livvy are toast, so its between us, County and St Johnstone for the play off place. I think we should have enough about us to top that triumverate. Unless of course Bair and Vale get injured at the same time and we have no cover! Now lets get into these Squirrelhumping barstewards! 😆
  16. I thought a number of players had decent first halves. But the levels dropped off in the second half with all the unforced changes from the mangager. I thought Vale had another very good 70 mins before he was undeservedly hooked. But Ive gone for SODs for Motm. Thought he was very solid at RWB, did well at RCB and showed some real leadership qualities trying to direct his team mates and effect the game.
  17. When I saw the starting line up today I did raise an eyebrow with the changes made and can only presume some players were unwell or carrying knocks. The back line seemed particularly negative with no Gent or Devine and the midfield too attacking with no Davor. It also left the bench looking like it was all eggs in one basket, with plenty to shore it up if we were ahead and not much to change it positively if we got behind. Thought we started slowly and let Aberdeen get the better of the early exchanges, but we seemed to grow into the game and it felt like another act of self harm when we gave up the opening goal. After that we had some good chances and should really have got level, even before VAR conspired against us. Second half, I couldnt really understand the substitutions. I can accept Gent being brought on to give us more width but he was largely ineffective and Im not sure what the purpose of bringing Halliday on was. I can only think SK thought we needed more control in midfield and maybe Davor wasnt fit. Otherwise its a mystery. We did play ok for the first part of the second half and created a few chances that were spurned but the rest of the substitutions were baffling. Taking Lennon Miller off was madness as we effectively gave up the midfield at that point and bringing 2 youngsters on when we were chasing the game was not fair on them. If Moses hasnt shown enough in training to get 15-20 mins in front of them at this point, Id question why we have given him a contract. Big Theo had a poor game and had run his race by then and should have been replaced before Vale for me. Need to see the Shinnie hand ball again, but it certainly looked a lot clearer than the Bair decision. All said and done though we didnt lost the game because of VAR. Bad finishing and poor in game management did that.
  18. I think its worth highlighting Lukas Jutkiewicz figures before he signed for Motherwell. He had done nothing of note prior to that, in fact had played way more games than Jack Vale with a statistically poorer return. Now Im not saying Jack Vale will be that level of player, but no one had ever heard of Lukas and he turned out pretty well. So lets see what Jack has got eh? https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lukas_Jutkiewicz
  19. Agree - other than vale I thought all forwards were poor Changing wingbacks didn’t work today either - no real pressure from anyone 1-1 would have been fair - should never have been ruled out
  20. Because with stats like Vale has probably hoped it wasn’t for real . Let’s see what the experts on here think of Vale happy clappers every one
  21. Kelly, SOD, Casey, Mugabe, McGinn, Blaney Miller, Spittal, Nicholson The Bair and Vale
  22. I never doubted him , I just didn't join the Wikipedia fed "he's shite" before I saw him play. Same with Jack Vale both have turned out better than I could have hoped for. I don't know if these sites are anywhere near accurate if they are we have work to do on his current wages never mind extending his contract. https://salarysport.com/football/scottish-premiership/motherwell/
  23. re KVV. I've never understood why was he so desperate to go back to Holland. Given his partner lives here and was having their child, it's rather odd. Feels like ego. I wish the guy 'Well and delighted with what he did for us but he comes across as a bit of a primadonna . It was more luck than judgement that he's not back at FP and with hindsight goggles I'm relieved. Vale has been excellent for us.
  24. Van veen not even used as sub today. Looks like we made right decision getting Vale. Plus I'm hopeful about new guy.
  25. Who'd havce thunk it ?? he's certainly defied the experts 🙂 That Vale bloke was a pish panic signing as well. In fact, the last two windows have been a complete failure if I'm reading the forum correctly.
