Let’s all hail Callum 👏

Shite scared to go and test himself in a more competitive league like Gilmore McTominay and Ferguson did I think I wouldn’t look out of place in that Celtic midfield and I haven’t kicked a ball in years

He's a goggly-eyed wee fanny that turned his back on more caps at the age of 30 because playing for Scotland is much more difficult than playing for Celtic in the league. At least Tierney had the baws to try his hand at a better domestic level Edited to add...he's also a diving little cretin 3 1

There's a player in Koutroumbis after his long injury he looked good in his limited game time in the last few games, so I'd be keeping him.

Let’s all hail Callum 👏 You dont need to hail him. You just dont need to deny that he has actually been quite good over a prolongued period of time. Its possible to not like him but accept he has been a very good player. Edit: I also dont deny he could have been an even better player if he had gone to test himself in a better league, or that you should never retire from international football. That really annoyed me. But it still doesnt lessen the quality of his performances for Celtic and Scotland in some really big games against very good opposition. Callahan only on 1yr deal

I would have him a regular starter.
wellfan Posted yesterday at 07:09 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 07:09 PM (edited) Whoever the new manager is, I hope they’re a fan of the back four. And I’d fully expect Johnny K to start the season as the first choice RB, providing he stays free of injury. He’s got a year left on his deal and has a lot to prove. He deserves that chance. Edit - no idea why we’re talking about Johnny K here. He’s our player. Edited yesterday at 07:13 PM by wellfan

A fan of actual defending would be a good start. I'm not too worried if that's a 4, a 3 or a libero set up.

weeyin
Like most managers, SK did some good things and some bad things. On the plus side, he figured out what KVV needed to be effective, turned Theo Bair around for a tidy sum, gave us Biereth for a few months, gave the youngsters a decent amount of playing time, and not all his signings were busts (Sparrow, Seddon, Maswanhise, Gordon, Koutroumbis, for example). On the negative side, he never managed to sort out our basic lack of defending, struggled to find a plan B, struggled to find a goal scorer, and despite the many "internal reviews of the training regime" seemed to consistently crock our players on a regular basis. I wasn't sad to see him leave, as he was running out of ideas - but no need to rewrite history.

He also struggled to find some humility, which was a contributing factor to his downfall. For the sake of his career, he really needs to temper his ego and develop better self-awareness. Otherwise, the negatives will continue to overshadow the positives, and the Killie fans will show him the door soon enough.
MJC
“as he was running out of ideas” I think that that was patently obvious and I suspect Kettlewell, like Alexander before him, realised this too. And had he just left rather than creating this smokescreen about fan abuse being the reason he had to leave then I don’t think there would be half the amount of bad feeling towards him now. Unfortunately he chose to go down that route and to compound matters the club, WS and certain players aided his crusade by jumping on the same bandwagon. I actually liked him while he was with us even though it was clear he had ran his course, but he soured that with his bullshit about why he decided to leave. Don’t kid a kidder.

People only tend to worry about that when the team isn't playing well. From Brian Clough to José Mourinho, the footballing world is full of managers with huge egos. I agree it contributed to his downfall though, as he obviously left to "protect his brand".
