grizzlyg
Think will need to be a lot of patience tonight against a stuffy Morton side. For years we have complained about style of football under Robbo, Alexander and Kettlewell. Club have now went different route with style of play so we need to give JB time to get his style in place, isn't an overnight job. Also hopefully good playing conditions tonight as previous 3 been brutal which hasn't helped 1) Clyde away, 30 degrees and a pitch made of sandpaper 2) Peterhead home, torrential showers 3) Stenny away, chucking it down and another plastic pitch. Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs, Dundee Utd plus 3 best group winners are seeded. There are still more than three teams that could end up with 12 points if my arithmetic is correct.....Alloa/Airdrie, Ayr, Thistle, Hearts, Killie and St Johnstone. Also Falkirk can get to 11 points and are well ahead of us on goal difference. So when we win we will just have to wait and see how it all works out. Unseeded and at home to Alloa would work. I'm not too bothered about seeding in 23-24 we were seeded and got St Mirren away and frankly in my years supporting Motherwell I've seen plenty teams I wouldn't see in our way dump us out both the Cups. One of the worst being Albion Rovers at NDP

Being seeded means next to nothing for us in this competition and as you say you can't trust Motherwell to win any cup tie against anyone. Funny how not being seeded is disregarded when we are unlikely to be seeded. I get the point that any team can get a tough draw, seeded or unseeded. And with so few teams involved that possibility exists. But avoiding the the likes of Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, Hibs in the last 16 cannot be underplayed. Give me Ross County away or Falkirk or Ayr at Fir park any time over those options. Less chance of us blowing it against those teams than against any of the teams joining at the knock out stage. But we are getting ahead of ourselves. Tonight could go either way.

We’ve almost not got any excuses tonight for a change. a few days ago I was confident we could get turned over tonight but as usual I am now thinking positively about tonight. This positivity will last until about 7.46pm just hoping for an improvement and a bit of creation and dare I say, a goal or two.

Maybe just Ward’s turn although I think Ward is above Connelly in the pecking order and perhaps manager also considering Morton as much more of an attacking threat?

Ward isn’t good yet he’s picked before Connelly who to be fair, hasn’t done much wrong albeit he’s had little to do. Connellys height and presence is the issue for me, regardless of being able to pass the ball about in his 6yrd box, a commanding keeper is necessary in a good side. We moaned relentlessly about Kelly being too small and Kelly is a couple of inches taller and wider than Connelly. We’ll see how it goes tonight
