wellgirl
I went to school with Catherine Pettigrew who was Willie Pettigrew's neice. I've heard of Marinello but not the other two - I'm feeling quite young - for once 😂😂😂😂 - it won't last

Stuwell2
I’m struggling to find my all time greatest team from the players I’ve seen play but I find it incredible that so few who must have seen him have McAllister in their team. I’ve always compared Miller to him, at times, both could collect the ball and stroll through the midfield looking for a pass without bothering to look at the ball as they had total control of it. Agreed. In fact, in my time watching Motherwell, I'd say McAllister was the most successful player from our youth system that I have seen. He won quite a few honours in some great sides (including the First Division title with us!)

But remember him being an icon at Leeds United , and at Anfield Gary Mac is considered an absolute legend who won a cup treble

Kept it professional while we all knew he was celebrating with the rest of us.
SteelmaninOZ
There have too many stand out players over the years that I have been watching the Well 1959 to 1980 when I came to the far side of the world since then it’s been watching tv and video coverage. I feel that every fan has his/hers favourite player from their era. Great thread though.

He won quite a few honours in some great sides (including the First Division title with us!) Same could be said for McLair, who has been omitted from all our dream teams. Probably won more than Gary Mac. He won a lot of titles at both Celtic and Man Utd, euro trophies and FA and league cups. I suppose he started at Aston Villa but was only there a few months before joining our youth set up. a wee but like McAllister though that they both showed great potential at us but developed into top players on leaving. McAllister did have 5yrs at Leicester in the lower league prior to flourishing at Leeds.
weeyin
McLair was a great player, but I don't put him in the same category as McAllister only because he joined as an 18 year old rather than coming up through the levels at Motherwell.
andalg
I picked mine on performances for Motherwell only Not for what players went on to do elsewhere

He was an excellent player, hard as nails and very good on the ball.
Kmcalpin
I'll resist going back to the 1960s as that would complicate matters considerably and make my choice more difficult. But here's my selection: Ruddy Nijholt McVie McCart Wark Davidson O'Donnell McLaren Cooper Pettigrew Graham Subs: McRae W Watson Van der Gaag Kipre MacKinnon Russell Millar Coyne
dennyc
Not a team of the best players, but a team representing those players I loved watching. Randolph Nijholt Martin Forbes Wark McAllister O'Neil Cooper Pettigrew Higdon Coyne Honourable mention to Billy Campbell, Brian Heron, Dougie Arnott, Phil O'Donnell, Keith MacRae, Bobby Russell, Vic Davidson, Jackie McInally, Martin Corrigan and so many more. I guess I could easily pick three teams of players I have had the privilege of watching over the years. I'm now off to work on a team that includes 11 players I wish I had not had to suffer during those same years. Might even include a Manager. A recent one.

Mccus28
Cant believe more folk dont have Tommy Coyne in their teams!!!!!!! I loved that guy, had zero pace but was a fantastic footballer. Id also put Rab Mckinnon against any of our left backs, again, he was fantastic in my eyes. Also, Randolph for me is the best keeper we have had
weeyin
Coyne was fantastic for us. Pettigrew was even better - he really was that good, and Bobby Graham (who was also really that good) played a key part in that.

I never actually seen him play, spoke to him plenty when he ran the petrol station on New Edinburgh Rd and seemed a really nice guy!!!!
