Heard it all before I’m afraid.

”There for the taking”

”We’ll never have a better chance”

”They’re playing shite we’re playing well”

And I’ve yet to see us ‘take’ either one of the Old Firm when they’ve supposedly been there for it.

Maybe if we had a goalscorer as I said like a Higdon, KvV or Moult to take the chance that you need to take when it comes we’d be in with a shout, but we simply don’t have that in our side. And at the back we are weak, even weaker without Welsh and were very lucky not to have been a couple of goals down against Aberdeen at half time last week. We would not have got away with that against Celtic, regardless of how poor they are by their standards.

Too many of our fans are getting carried away with themselves.

We have literally beaten Rangers twice at Ibrox in the last 2 seasons with teams that were much poorer than this one, having failed to do so in the previous 27 years.

We havent beaten Celtic at Parkhead for a while, but we have had a couple of creditible draws. Again with much poorer teams than this.

Nobody is getting carried away here. No one is saying we are going to pump Celtic, we may well lose.

But if you cant allow yourself to have just a little hope right now, Im not sure when you can.

Isnt that what following a shite wee diddy club is all about?

PS you do know we have scored more goals than Celtic this season, despite not having a striker like Higdon or KVV?

The first of the two wins over Rangers came completely out of the blue, nobody expected us to win that one. Celtic go into this in poor form and by the sounds of it quite a few of our fans actually think we are going to go there and beat them. That scenario never ends well.

We are playing some good football this season and I’m enjoying it, that won’t change when, not if, we lose against Celtic tomorrow but we need to be much sharper in the final third if we are to make our good play properly count going forward. I’m not going down the nonsensical route of trying to kid myself and others that “games against the OF don’t matter” because of course they do. I just don’t believe that this team is capable of going to Celtic Park tomorrow and getting anything.

Im not sure the first win at Ibrox came out of the blue.

We had been there earlier in the season and, although we lost 1-0, we had actually played a lot better in that one than the one that we won.

Slattery, Miller, Paton and Spittal were fantastic that day. Unfortunately Slattery got injured just after that and we never had the chance to play those 4 together again.

I get that you dont want to get your hopes up for tomorrow and thats a perfectly reasonable position to have. But you could do with being less definitive in your posts.

You are probably correct in that, we statistically ARE unlikely to win tomorrow. But to say we definitely will not and have no chance, just doesnt bare any examination.

I'm definitely not getting carried away . For all the great football this season we do have just the 1 league win

Much to be pleased about still , unbeaten in 12 games . 14 if you include Wimmer's last 2 games .  Our best unbeaten run for 73 years I seen during the week

We have a poor record against Celticin the last few years , and despite the fact we could most likely lose we do have a good chance of picking up something I believe

Most positive things have been for a number of years , 6k Well fans at the last 3 home games is also good

I may have predicted a 2-3 score line in our favor but I’m not getting carried away. I did not put any money on it !

Celtic are obviously strong favorites to win and history tells us that a Celtic win is the most likely outcome but despite that I still have an optimistic outlook, in contrast to MJC who has, I’d say, a realistic outlook rather than pessimistic.

COYW!!

Nothing wrong with realism, but fans are allowed to get excited and dream. That doesnt influence games.

(Although negative energy across a whole fanbase can be self perpetuating).

The important thing is that the players dont get carried away, and there is no chance of that under this manager.

The realism is that we have been in the top flight since 1985 and we sometimes win, sometimes draw, and sometimes lose games.

That's not possible if you lose every game, and the data does not realistically support that notion.

If we can maintain possession, or even better, get in the lead as well, their fans may start to get on the players backs making them even more edgy.
I’m hoping that Cook and JT will have more space up front to have a real go at their defense and that it will be the day when it all falls into place for AP.

Not sure whether Hearts winning tonight is a good or bad thing for us. It makes it a must win for Celtic tomorrow. They will be edgy as hell.

An early goal for us could send them all into meltdown. That would be nice.
