To read and listen to some of the stuff you'd think we've been outplayed every game we've played.

7 x League = Won 1 , Drawn 5 , Lost 1 = 8 Points

 

(and just to calm things down before the onslaught in two weeks time we lost at home to Falkirk in the 8th game) 😁🤣

 

Performance are not as good as last season and they wont be cos we've lost too many really good players. If you are going to judge us by that benchmark you are permanently going to be disappointed. 

I think you're right that that my disappointment is basing on last season. It's very hard to shake.

My initial point was to show it's not just the last 2 -3 games, it's been choppy for the last 8. This season we got off to a very decent start, particularly with the Euro games - I thought we were going to be for another treat but I personally feel we're regressing .

BUT you have a very fair comparison to last season and in truth is the core of where Im struggling.  It was such a revelation . Even the first  7 games when we'd 8 points I felt we were on the up, only getting better.  Some of the draws we were unlucky eg Falkirk and letting Hearts back in the game at Tyncastle. 

 I initially thought we'd brought in some upgrades but I'm not seeing much of that. Ward,  Welsh, Watt, Just would all walk straight into the team I think.  Moorman and Lowry both been pretty good but that's probably about It for now (albeit some may prove to be very good over time)

I get that 100% mate , last year was probably once in a lifetime stuff for us and it will be hard for everyone to adjust to what will be or new norm ... sadly

This is Motherwell, we are not going to win every game, a few bad results and its "has AJ lost the dressing room", hes "never played football" so he cant manage BS.

Folk need to dry their pants and calm down, yes the team has issues that need addressed but im sure the management team will sort it out znd find the right balance for the team. With all the injuries we've had AJ has neer had the luxury of a full squad to pick from, so going forward that should ease.

If there's anything to take comfort in, it's that for the most part the over-reactions and grumbling from the crowd will play little part in how the people in charge act. 

We've seen this all before. Social media & fan forums all slowly begin losing the plot, but the club itself certainly does not have a reputation for being trigger-happy when it comes to managers and the process we're following. 

My guess is that any kind of real questions will be asked of AJ post-Christmas. That's usually the first stage where assessment takes place at most clubs, and I don't think we'll be any different. 

Also, despite last season's heroics, I'm fairly certain our aims haven't really changed. Secure Premier League status as a priority, then once that looks likely, we push on for a top six finish. But in all honesty, I could see us finish 9th this season and retain the manager with an aim to see what progress is made next season. 

Just because Jens hit the ground running and we managed to unearth some gems that did the same doesn't mean we have a magical recipe to do the same thing every season. If we did, much larger clubs would be sniffing about our club, looking for whoever has this answer to a problem that no club has ever been able to crack.
