I'll just have to find a stream somewhere.

By the way, apparently Peter Ward is also going up there, he was Jim's assistant down here. Good partnership they hd going - Jim was the boss, bit of a schoolteacher role, players sometimes didn't like him as a person. But Wardy was the inbetween man, always kept spirits up and entertained, and also a decent coach too.

If any of you get the chance to speak to him, ask him what his opinion of Burnley is

I think this is an exciting appointment. On the poll thread I said at the time he would be a real coup for you but that 'Well probably wouldn't be able to get him. I'm glad to be proved wrong, and whilst he has a very big job on his hands to re-build a tiny squad, things look brighter. Best of luck to him :notworthy:

From the Daily Mail online, which seems pretty positive.

Gannon tipped to put Motherwell back on the map ahead of unveiling at Fir Park

Jim Gannon: New Motherwell boss

Jim Gannon has been backed to take Scottish football by storm as he prepares to take over the Motherwell helm.

The 40-year-old will be unveiled as the club's new boss at a press conference

at Fir Park tomorrow lunchtime.

The former Stockport manager emerged as the surprise choice to replace Mark McGhee after the likes of Steve Staunton, Lawrie Sanchez and Adrian Boothroyd

were linked with the job.

His appointment may have raised some eyebrows but County midfielder Dom

Blizzard believes his former boss will be a success in the Clydesdale Bank

Premier League.

He said: 'People up in Scotland might not have heard a great deal about Jim, but, believe me, they will before long. He is a top, top manager.

'He has been working under very difficult conditions with us at Stockport.

'The club went into administration last season and was docked 10 points but he has managed to keep everybody's spirits up.'

Like his predecessor McGhee, Gannon brings with him experience of managing in

the English lower leagues where he enjoyed a degree of success at Stockport.

Gannon guided County to promotion to League One through the play-offs in 2008 before turning down the opportunity to join Brighton earlier this year.

He was then made redundant last month after the Edgeley Park side went into

administration.

Blizzard told the Evening Times: "I can totally understand why Motherwell have gone for him ahead of a host of other well-known coaches who were in for the job.

'He has not had a huge budget to fork out on players during his time at Stockport, but he has done well with the money that he has had to spend.'

Gannon now faces a baptism of fire with his first match in charge of the Steelmen in just a few days time.

Motherwell play host to Welsh outfit Llanelli in a Europa League first-round qualifier on Thursday, leaving little time to prepare his players for their first game of the new campaign.

The London-born Irishman also faces the task of rebuilding a squad which has already witnessed the departure of several players since the end of last

season.

What do you make of then players he is supposedly targeting eg Josh thompson etc?

Josh Thompson - a great prospect but nowhere near the finished article. Manyoo have offered 250k apparently after he was training with their first team prior to the CL final and Peterborough are also prepared to pay for him.

Apparently his top target from us is the goalkeeper Owain Fon Williams who is superb! He's regular now for Wales U21 and would be a very good signing. It's soul-destroying seeing all our young talent being taken for next to nothing.

Absolutely - we've seen it often enough ourselves. Hopefully the production line you had set up under Gannon will churn a few out for a few years yet for you. Hope whoever your new gaffer is works wonders with it too.
