If top level officiald are speaking of this on tv i dont see thm being at Fir Park in 5 years. It should be made aware that the Fir park school is moving to the Globe area found that out today by accident whoever buy that bsite will want the stadium land too.Supporters groups need to make themselves heard at a time like this.

I'm in no hurry to leave Fir Park, it's inevitable it will happen sooner or later with obvious benefits outweighing the negatives regarding the money spent on the upkeep of the stadium/pitch etc but to be honest the thought of a St Mirrenesque stadia in the middle of nowhere doesn't really appeal to me.

It says that Leann Dempster hopes that the new pitch is the last improvement they have to do to Fir Park and that she hopes that we'll have a custom built stadium at some point in the future.

Not quite the same thing.

It's seemed for the past few years that the fans have tacitly known that we'd be moving at some point in the medium term and that the club would be sort out a site and details at some point. If there hadn't been the drop in the property market 2 years ago or so then it might already have happened.

The problems with the pitch and all we've heard about the rising costs of remedial work required on the Main Stand along with the recent new builds that clubs like St Mirren have moved into have just added to the feeling that the move is inevitable. The college and Fir Park school moving just make it more likely that as soon as property prices start going up then we're going to hear something concrete.

That doesn't necessarily mean that we will "move from Fir Park some time soon".

Well it depends what you mean by soon. The next few years or so would seem unlikely considering the cost of fixing the undersoil heating last year and re-laying the pitch twice in little over a year. But in time the cost of the work to the pitch plus remedial work on the rest of the stadium will reach a point where the ongoing cost is so high that we would be no worse off building a new stadium and offsetting the cost with the sale of the land at Fir Park. If there's a good economic decision to be made about moving there is no way the board will keep us at a costly stadium for the sake of nostalgia.

The property market is key to when we go. The value of that land is tied up with someone wanting to develop the land at Motherwell College and Fir Park Primary. As soon as that happens we'll be on the move.

a move away from fir park is inevitable whether its next year or in 10 years time who knows but when the day comes i hope we dont end up with a barr build lego job.id take a crumbling fir park over st mirrens stadium anyday.it would be good if the club and the fans got together to come up with a stadium that would suit everybody

We will not be moving anywhere unless we get a megarich benifactor prepared to pay for the new stadium. Fir Park and the land owned my Motherwell FC (actually our chairman) extends to approx 7 acres. A new stadium will cost in the region of £7m to £10m not including the cost of any land at Ravenscraig. That would mean we require a developer to pay more than £1m an acre, even in the boomtimes a few years back land values never reached this much. Then you have to take into consideration the demolition of the stands and any remedial works required. The sale of Fir Park to fund a new stadium does not add up. Its time for the board to wake up and smell the coffee. Instead of paying consultants lots of money on feasibility studies why not just accept the fact that money needs to be spent on FIR PARK.

Them and Bellway took the land. The road currently being constructed where the old entrance used to be is more or less the border between the two developers. When Fir Park School goes then that'll leave just the high school and Knowetop Primary left in that large area.

I read somewhere recently that Aberdeen have to spend around half-a-million every year just to keep Pittodrie up to safety standards. That seems excessive to me, but if it's the case, no wonder they are moving.
