Don't know if anyone saw the West Ham vs Brentford match tonight but if we were going to have a sky blue away kit, the Brentford third looks more like what you'd want...

Agree. Brentford strip is banging.
-
Apologies for tangent but if anyone watching West ham v Brentford the Brentford away strip would be a great away strip for us

I just cant understand why they dont stick to the clear and obvious error. Saturdays ruled out goal was knit picking trying to find and error. That is not clear and obvious that is blatantly searching for something to cancel a goal.

Don't worry lose to Livingston and the heat directed at the manager will increase quite considerably. For some we are a baw hair away from wanting the long ball shite back, as if that made us much better in the last few seasons. Basic individual errors are costing us dearly hopefully these will lessen because in every game right now we are making some absolute howlers. We are not being beaten or losing a lead because the opposition are outplaying us. (Falkirk 2nd half excluded) Our season could look fantastic in 4 weeks time or it could look desperate thats the fine line we are running right now.

Balmer wasn’t on the bench so must be bottom of the defensive pecking order.

I'm a jinx. Other than the 1991 Cup Win, we have lost every other game I have been to. Unless you count the 2nd leg of the League Cup tie against Queens Park which we won, but were still eliminated because they had put 4 past us at Fir Park. Can't complain about about the win I have seen, though! Best Scotland game I have been to was the World Cup qualifier against Spain (in 1984) when we beat them 3 - 1.

I don't like Hampden for several reasons, the main one one of which is parking. For me public transport is not an option. Although I don't live out in the sticks, I would need to take 2 buses and 3 trains to get there at god knows what cost. Being somewhat naive, I thought the best place for parking advice is the Hampden Park website. As much use as a chocolate fireguard. It tells you roughly where you can't park but no more than that, unless you're familiar in detail with the area. "Glasgow City Council has an Event Day plan which will be initiated on the day which restricts parking in the surrounding areas to residents only." It then redirects you to a City of Glasgow Council parking website..........which is broken.

Have to agree with respect to VAR scope. Can't remember who said it before but I think the best way I have heard it put is in Scotland VAR is being used to find pebbles when it's boulders it should be identifying.

I do like Hampden , my favourite memories 1991 aside are the cup semis against both St Johnstone , and even better the 3-0 against Aberdeen One of my other favourite memories, the Scotland game when Faddy gave the top to a boy who is related to my wife . Didn't know that at the time . Won't mention names but he is doing great for himself on the podcasts with the likes of Tam C and various others My one regret is we haven't won a cup at the newish stadium . Still time of course -
VAR’s scope needs to be significantly limited and restricted. “Clear and obvious errors” is what it was brought in to correct and that is what it needs to be restricted to if it’s going to work. If an attacking player is clearly in an offside position when a goal is scored or if there is an obvious foul on a goalkeeper or defender then apply it there. But this jobsworth examining every goal to see if the player who has put the cross in’s big toe was technically offside or if there was a foul in the build up 40 yards from goal more than a minute before the goal is scored is just absolute bunkum and is totally ruining football. As has been said several times, this not being able to properly celebrate and enjoy a goal because you’ve always got one eye on the big Screen/tannoy stating “Checking possible foul/offside” and then having to wait for potentially several minutes for confirmation either way is just ridiculous.

I like Hampden also (I'm usually in South or North stands though) and isn't difficult to get to. It is served by multiple train stations, from one next door to about 4 or 5 within a 20 min walk (albeit most on the same line) Its also 5 mins away from the M74

VAR was a farce for disallowed goal but what annoys me even more is McLean looked at screen and agreed with them!! Fed up seeing ref's not prepared to go with own judgement. But also at end of day we should still have had Falkirk out of sight first half
-
I've always said it should be max 20 second review, with no drawing of lines etc. If no obvious error made, then the on field decision stands. The biggest myth about VAR is the words "clear and obvious". Presumably everyone on here is aware of the VAR petition started by the well society, following the survey put out a while back?

Nothing will change while that fud collum is in charge.

I’ve never got the hatred towards Hampden. I love it and think there is a special feeling about going to play there. Perhaps that’s because when you’re playing there you’re usually in a Semi Final or a Final and that bit closer to tangible success or maybe because of the history of the place, from a Motherwell point of view it is the scene of the greatest day in the clubs history many in ‘Well fans lifetime, certainly mine. And the other argument against it is “it’s too hard to get to”. But is it? And if it is is it any harder to get to than any other major football stadium? Or indeed any harder to get to than any equivalent ground that could be used for a SF or Final? The only thing I don’t and never will get about Hampden is the insistence that Celtic and Rangers always get their ‘own’ end whenever they play there, no matter who it is. I get it when they play each other but when you’ve got Motherwell fans having to travel to the West end of the stadium just so that Celtic can get ‘their’ end and vice versa Kilmarnock fans having to travel to the East end so Rangers can get ‘their’ end then it’s a nonsense.

Been reading the comments of course Pre 2012 I would have said more Rangers fans were interested in the national team and the Celtic fans were more interested in the Republic of Ireland , the ones I knew anyway I would say since 2012 with Rangers liquidation , plus the referendum there is plenty of them now who see the national side in the same light as the SNP , against everything they stand for , plus the hatred towards Steve Clarke, at the same time Celtic fans , the younger ones at least are more into Scotland now On the subject of Hampden Park and back towards the semi final chat which is what this was all about I must admit I still like Hampden. It is definitely not perfect in any way but still a good stadium for me -
I’ve always said that VAR should be ran by foreign officials who have no axes to grind or possible favouritism and are competent rather then the idiots we have.
-
VAR technology itself isn’t really the issue in Scotland. It’s the absolute clowns operating it and the total lack of accountability. It’s ruining the matchday experience to the point I’m genuinely considering not renewing my season ticket until either (a) it’s scrapped, or (b) the officials somehow stop being utter morons.

The last time I checked Scotland was part of Britain? 🤷♂️ And I could add Stuart McCall, Davie Cooper, Tam Forsyth, Lee McCulloch, Alex McLeish (who all also have ‘Well connections) as well as Walter Smith, Sandy Jardine, David Weir, Richard Gough, Duncan Ferguson, Jim Bett, Allan McGregor, Alan Hutton, Kenny Miller (Celtic as well obviously), Gordon Durie, Colin Hendry, Willie Johnston, Derek Johnstone…and more. Plus to bring this debate back to the subject of Hampden Park, did Rangers not pay to have the West end of the stadium covered in the 1980s? Anyway…the Semi Final on the 1st November…

I had to watch back as well. There was a slight pull on his shirt/ arm by i think brian graham just before he headed it into arfields path. Point being that if not for that pull, he would have made a better clearance. Would have been soft IMO but not as soft as what saids goal was chopped off for, which is presumably his main gripe. Easy to bemoan not going into half time more ahead, but we should have been. Not a lot you can do if the officials are trying to chop goals off like that. Shocking decision.

You rattled MJC,s cage and he stood up to defend his big team.
