I get that the rules feel petty at times, but you only need to look at Man City to see what happens when you don't have rules - or you do have rules, and the big teams try to circumvent them. It's much easier to have a single set of regulations that everyone has to follow than spend time and money evaluating every one of the hundreds of clubs every week.

You're definitely right about UEFAs fining policy being all about the money...but I was really meaning more about the lad in question being easily identified, should the club want to go down that road

It was but speaking to a UEFA delegate I know he says the rules are quite clear that ANY type of pitch incursion incurs an initial €5k fine. Some of the rules he told me about are very petty, eg fined if an advertising hoarding isn't a certain distance from the pitch, fined if a sponsors logo on the strip isn't pre approved by UEFA among others. A money making exercise if ever there was one.

Have Motherwell any intention or willing to identify those responsible? So far it would appear not. And before the usual suspects jump in, I'm not targeting one particular group here. Any supporter who enters the pitch or sets off Pyros should be barred from future games. And Clubs need to work together to ensure it is a Scotland wide ban. Does it matter? UEFA would end up in some mess if a headcount had to be taken to determine if its a pitch incursion. One or 100 its all the same.

10/11 is not bad! I think SOD looked lack of fitness in his last game, it's not the ideal choice and I think if SOD had 30 min runouts last few games I would agree. I think it's too tough an ask.

Again, if feeling is so strong throughout the league it's on the fans to make their views known to the clubs and try to force their hand. My feeling, though, is that if the clubs tried to dictate to Sky or any other provider when games can be shown, and how many 3pm Saturday kickoffs there have to be, we'd at least see a sizeable reduction in the value of the deal, if not the actual companies themselves saying, "no worries, we'll find something else to put money into. Best of luck." On clubs having little to no regard for the impact on fans, I think they're caught between a rock and a hard place. Do they draw a red line with the TV companies as mentioned above, and risk the TV deal being worth less? Will fans be happy to accommodate less of a playing budget, a downturn in quality perhaps, and clubs not being able to spend in order to have more fan-friendly kickoff times? It's a nuanced situation.
