  1. Past hour
  2. Because the Scottish main stream media are so far up arsecheeks backside they wont ask questions like that for fear of upsetting them.
  3. Interesting views and points. My own take is that Im more sentimentally attached to old Fir Park in the days of terracing than what we have now probably because that era holds more good memories for me. If we decided to up sticks it probably wouldn't bother me too much. I thought at the time when Ravenscraig was being developed that this was the ideal opportunity if we were ever going to move from Fir Park by getting into bed with the council and private equity. A fully integrated indoor sports facility and new ground with training facilities linked to a mini town centre with franchises like McDs etc all located in the same place with transport links. Could still happen I suppose but I think the most cost effective solution is probably some kind of redevelopment on the current site.
  4. A luddite, by fuck! To me, its not borne out of pure attachment that I want to stay at Fir Park, its the thought of what we end up with (and where) that is the over-riding factor for me. Ive not see any new build in Scotland, where I've thought 'my God, I wish this was ours'...not once. The money required to finance a full new-build will surely make anything other than a 'Bill Barr' effort out of the question? The way I see it, we should be pulling out all the stops to demolish and rebuild the main stand into a stand that suits our needs, something modern but functional. Hibs and Hearts managed it, with limited footprints, so why cant we?
  5. What I find hilarious is when Goodwin, O’Neill openly say their player was at fault for giving Officials decisions to make. Often acknowledging that there was foul play by their player, but minor. O’Neill seems upset that VAR had the cheek to point out the Trusty thing was more than the referee had seen on first viewing. Strange how the media did not ask a simple yes/no question of either. Was it a foul?
  6. Today
  7. Falkirk dont own the main stand its leased long term. They only own the other two stands, so i presume any non match day revenue goes to whatever organisation actually owns the stand, i think it was the local council at one point.
  8. It was described as an "Open Contract" the terms of which are not known, but some with knowledge of these things described as a normal employment contract with a notice period on either side. Basically we wont be getting big compo for him. If a club comes in that he fancies he will be allowed to talk to them...... Im pretty fine with that. We had no way of knowing at the start whether he was gonna be a success or not and he has made us plenty money already on increased gate money and prize money. Not to mention the other sellable assets we now have in the squad.
  9. I wouldnt say Im not sentimentally attached to Fir Park as Ive been going there for over 50 years and will undoubtedly be a wrench if and when we have to leave. However, Im also a pragmatist, so while it would he nice to have the finances to remain and modernise what we have on the existing site, Im also open to moving to a new site, and not necessarily Ravenscraig, although it is the obvious alternative and has the emotional attachment to the club by virtue of it being the site of the steelworks. The deciding factor for me will always be the long term security of the club. Which option best serves that best whilst allowing us to remain competitive on the pitch? I guess the answer to that will be in the feasibility study. Hopefully we will get the boards view in due course.....
  10. SOD has been amazing this season, a re birth definitely and whats the thought's that he could get in to the world cup squad? Long shot I know but him n Watt as our players n Welsh as a tic player all from a title winning Well side?
  11. The other thing to say about Falkirk is that the main stand is utilised daily, renting out offices and space to businesses on a daily or longer basis etc, so it also generates non match day revenue
  12. I wonder if that will be one of the proposals from the feasibility study!
  13. I agree Fir Park is a money pit and anything that lessens the money we have to pay for ground maintenance is welcome , as is the chance to have very good corporate facilities and avenues for raising more money 7 days a week, something for which Fir Park seems limited.
  14. I was pleasantly surprised. I kind of expected a heartless, concrete ground but not so. Still areas for improvement but a better experience than at other comparable new builds. Finance clearly defines what we could achieve but it will be interesting to learn how much a proper refitting of Fir Park would cost in comparison to a new build. Especially if the Local Authority was able to provide the land at no cost to MFC. Folk living in the area will know far better than me whether there is council land lying vacant which could be utilised. MFC are an asset the Authority should be proud of and willing to support. I do understand that many fans have a sentimental outlook where Fir Park and our history is concerned. I respect that view. But that approach by previous Boards has contributed to the situation we now find ourselves in. And to the increased cost of now finding a sustainable solution.
  15. Awww fuck naw........please, please, don't do that !!!!!!! 😕
  16. If Celtic and us both win this week its going to be very tight at the top, Hearts on 63, Celtic 58, Rangers 57 and Motherwell 56. Does being 7 points off the top in March finally qualify us as title contenders.
  17. of the new builds , for smaller clubs in Scotland, Falkirks is probably the best but with the obvious down side of only three stands and open corners but the viewing positions are excellent.
  18. I'll never stop finding it funny when Jim Goodwin teams are upset about foul play or bad sportsmanship.
  19. For what it's worth, in his interview in The Herald recently, Whyte said he wanted to continue develop his career with us. (Of course, he would say that).
  20. Was the talk at the AGM not that Jens was on a rolling 1 year deal. On Olly Whyte you'd expect he'd be offered a new deal with a view of getting him involved next season. I think also as we have a co-op agreement with Stenhousemuir should the last few games end up with little meaning he'll probably play some minutes.
  21. Easy. Just plough most of the cash into the team; neglect the stadium; and get someone else to substantially pay for a new one.
  22. The Courier is still hurting obviously. Maswanhise dramatics and Sevelj naivety There was an intriguing section within Jens Berthel Askou’s programme notes, as he addressed the ludicrous reaction of Callum Slattery which resulted in a red card to Richard King of St Mirren in their prior fixture (subsequently rescinded). Reflecting on the incident, the Well gaffer wrote: “…the reaction has to be in proportion to the action itself. We’re trying our best to leave that part of a deeply rooted football culture behind us. “And we will do better going forward.” Did Maswanhise do better on Saturday? Was that reaction “in proportion” to Sevelj’s action? He certainly did a job for his team by drawing full attention to an incident that would have otherwise been missed – as scores of other similar confrontations between centre-backs and attackers are. The Zimbabwean international folded like a deckchair after Vicko Sevelj swung an arm in his direction, seeking to shake off Maswanhise after a bit of pushing and shoving between the pair. All pretty standard stuff. However, it was enough to convince VAR Ryan Lee to order Nick Walsh to attend the monitor and, as usual, the on-field referee took his tacit cue: penalty kick. None of which is to absolve Sevelj of blame. The versatile Croatian is an intelligent player and, although only 25 years of age, one of United’s more experienced campaigners – certainly in terms of SPFL appearances. He should not have given Walsh and Lee the opportunity to make that call. And between Sevelj’s naivety and Maswanhise’s preposterous histrionics, a diligent defensive effort went up in smoke."
  23. Don't forget folks our ticket allocation has been cut by 50 for this game.
  24. Easy solution...... qualify for & have a good run in the champions league & we can finance a fair bit of whats being talked about ........ 🤣🤣
