That second half was every bit as bad as the Celtic game against a piss poor Kilmarmock team that should basically have humped us. Utterly clueless. SOD will come in for huge criticism today and much of it deserved but he wasn't alone. When one or two players have a bad game its an off day but when every player continually looks rotten there are two issues and they are either the players are not that good or the manager doesnt know how to get the best out of them. If you have both you have big problems. I'm now over 50% convinced AJ is a poor choice (that said I still stand by the line it would be crazy to sack a manager after 9 league games). I'm actually more certain that we've spent two million quid on utter dross (Lowery, excluded) . Mooreman is slower than me and Girwood-Reich is slower than Mooreman. Far too soon to press the panic button yet but if we keep playing like that today we are relegation certainties.

On paper it definitely is too early to be questioning the manager but in reality he has shown absolutely nothing to suggest that he’s the man for the job. We are getting worse by the week…he keeps picking players like Sparrow and SOD who keep costing us goals…he delays making subs when we badly need them and it costs us. And without wanting to sound too personal he just looks and sounds like a wee boy who is completely out of his depth. I said it last week, but it just looks like we pinned our hopes on AJ being JBA mk2 but unfortunately he is proving to be Stevie Hammell mk2.

Just had a look at how have we performance since July - to try and get a view of bigger picture. Played 18 games Won 5. Last win was Utd in September. Lost 10 drawn 3 Conceded 33 Scored 24 (15 of them were in July/Aug) The goals conceded are such a clear and obvious issue that really hasn't been addressed . It's not just the defence, it's how we do (or don't) defend as a team. So perhaps worth parking it's just the last 5 games - it's a poor report card by any previous managers standard.

Wow whit a team that wid be eh?

Kilmarnock v Motherwell 17/10/2026
Great Balls of Shire replied to SteelmaninOZ's topic in Club Chat
Theres no plan in the world which can accommodate that defending...even the killue commentators were laughing and called it " Sunday league" ...we need to get some decent defenders in pronto -
“Some Motherwell fans really are deplorable individuals Yet again they are showing just how poisonous and toxic they are Deserve all they get after causing Graham Alexander to leave and shouting at Kettlewell Selfish, parochial and spoiled arseholes who are lucky to have a team to support when a wee club like ours really should be looking to merge with Accies, Airdrie and Albion Rovers for the good of Scottish football”

Behave yourself and stop talking pish why is it unacceptable? A Stupid statement in a nonsense thread, can we have HOTD back please and send this thread into it.

Something has happened behind the scenes. How else can you explain the sudden lack of effort. Sure confidence has been dented but the players are not running on or off the ball. The live wire Said has stopped smiling and everything seems flat. In flashes we have seen what they are capable off but overall theres a sniff of disinterest. Is the dressing room split? Jens obviously scared the shit out of players and they dared not do what was asked. By all accounts Alfred is different. So who is kicking backsides and demanding maximum effort. Is that whats missing and players like JT and Longelo are going threw the motions, stinking the place out and causing issues. We know we lack leadership on the park, but off it there is no excuses for someone not standing up to any nonsence. The board need to be having a look at what is going on. We all want Alfred to succeed but its getting harder for him by each passing game.

Can we have the plastic back? Take your pick...

Playing for mgr or not, we cannot go on with that defence...moorman looked good at start but he is being brought down to level of others. Alf needs to start dropping people or hes out a job. Paulsen is costing him too many points too...its like how many mistakes can you make to lose a goal.

AJ not happy at all with performance. Hopefully now he comes out all guns blazing and if any of players aren't prepared to fight then they don't start. Give me 11 players prepared to fight for the jersey

Jambos away in Turkey on Thursday so hopefully tired but I admit that is desperation. He needs to bring in a new defence. If it doesn't work then folk cant say problems weren't addressed. But yup..it is worrying .

It's obvious from last week's on park meeting when he was ignored by the players the are not confident in him and it shows on the park. Tactics seem awful. Play players in their preferred positions, its bloody simple . Giving every team a goal of a start in the first 10 mins , when he should have them psyched up for the game. To do the exact opposite. Preistman comming back is now looking like he won't be able to make a difference to that team or the tactics.

I don’t know where to start with that today. Firstly we deserved nothing. Players out there playing like it doesn’t matter. That defence!!! Woeful to a man, SODs worst performance in a few years, Sparrow an embarrassment of a full back. As much as I think Vogt is an amateur player at the very best he’d have done more than that imposter Maswanhise today…. The epitome of a player who doesn’t give a sh1t. Id give pass marks to Lowry who looked like he could at least create something and he tucked away his goal really well but as for anyone else it’s a no. Anyone who says we aren’t in quite a bit of bother here is fooling themselves. one thing for sure is that will be the last away day for me until I start to see a better level of performance and basic effort. My money can be better spent than watching that. The noises from the people around me were the same. A really disappointing day.

Why exactly is it unacceptable . We're rank rotten. Aberdeen scored 4 and St Mirren 3 against us.
-
I'll be short and sweet, i can see why you think AJ should go now, but for me 8 games in is far too early, and given how tight the league is, 2 wins could see us 4th. That said, unless we get a positive reaction from the team over the next 3 games ie at least 7 points then the board should be looking at AJ's position. The silky football we had last season under JBA and an exceptional team was great to watch, and we hoped it would continue this year, but if not, staying in the Premiership is the priority and that might involve a change of mansger and style. I

You know me grizzly would never fight with you and it’s all opinion driven. I think we might be repeating ourselves with the next week is all important though. What we all wanted to see, was that today was the day. Got to look at hearts midweek Pace, dynamism and bite. I fear for us.

I'm now 50/50 on the manager. A real lack of fluidity throughout our side. Once again the opposition didn't have to work for their goals today and Im not disrespecting Killie when saying this. But..... some of our 'established' pros need to take a massive look at themselves. I can accept being beat, but when players chuck the towel in with 20 mins to go then, that's a totally different matter. Goalkeeper needs a break, I know he's saved us so many times after losing stupid goals, but, you can't be guaranteeing the opposition a goal a game. We are so lucky that most teams in the league aren't picking up points at a faster rate. Three massive games coming up, it was four, but we've already made a balls up of the first one. I'm old enough and ugly enough to recognise that last year was a monumental success, however, that as a Motherwell team is an anomaly, five defeats on the bounce and the prospect of Hearts coming to town, should be sounding the alarm bells, even amongst the HCC.

yes - im pretty furious right now - like us all - we're desperate to see improvement. I honestly can't fathom what we do in training, nor can I fathom for the lift of me the sub choices. Nor can I see the approach we're trying to play - if it was 3-2 and we were simply out scored but had watched a game of free flowing football I think I could swallow that for now. echo your point 'We're in a world of trouble'
-
Yeah it just feels like its not going to work with this manager. I don't want to be calling for a managers head in October but there's something not quite right and the early results papered over some of the cracks.
-
The glass half full guys glass must be emptying very quickly,we are brutal, defence, mid and up front, cant see any shape, formation or any idea what we are doing, too powederpuff all over the park and no leadership, not a team just poor individuals.
-
Not sure where to start on that game. Wrong team selection. If you have players available for specific positions then play them in their proper positions stop playing players out of position. didn't play as a team, amd each unit was disjointed as well. gifted a goal for opposition yet again. terrible on the ball but even worse off the ball. Alfred has a lot to sort out. It’s one thing getting beat when your team plays entertaining football and you enjoy watching them but right now we are not a good team to watch.
