Knowing that shower they will be dreaming of emulating SAF’s glories

What's tiresome is fans actually thinking, over and over again, that we sign up a professional coach or footballer on a 2 or 3 year contract, and they instantly become diehard fans of Motherwell who will then turn down massive increases in wages, more resources and more media exposure at another, bigger club. And if they don't they are some kind of traitor. It's not me that boos guys that did a great job for this club when they come back in a different jersey. These are professionals. It's not a fun little hobby on the side. It's their career and anyone good at something wants to go as far as they can. I'm super positive about this season, I think we can split the Old Firm and maybe even challenge for the league if we can get the big results we need against the Top 5. However it's not a 'small club mentality' to actually realise Motherwell are well down the pecking order of international football and at the end of the day, money makes the world go round. It's just a realistic assessment. 95% of the people on this forums would leave Motherwell for a job somewhere else that paid twice as much and we actually are fans. That's just reality. People have kids and mortgages and a professional striving. I'd like to think Askou will stay here this season because he started something and he wants to see where it goes. Also you'd maybe want to wait and see what other offers come in rather than take the first one. But the chances of us keeping him here even medium term are virtually zero. Like I've said I'd be highly doubtful if he's here next season. It's also entirely possible we could keep this team and coaching staff together and then we are completely shite next season. Cos that's football.

Aberdeen I think will appoint Stephen Robinson. He has achieved all he can at St Mirren, can leave on a high and go to the Dons, stabilise them and make them a hard to beat side. That’s what they need right now.
-
Maybe they won't bother after those 2 experiences.
-
He was only there out of courtesy. Don't forget Mark McGhee, though.
-
Surely be a lot more than , 3k at say £25 a pop. That's a kind of crude guesstimate but I reckon more than 10k for sure.
-
Craig Brown anyone?
-
It’s utterly tiresome at times. We’ve got a core of supporters who seem naturally programmed to the “we’re only a wee team this won’t last” mindset above all else and they can’t let themselves and everyone else just enjoy us having a good side while we can. That idiot Cowan being the main culprit of this as I said after the Celtic game. Of course it is and yes indeed, sooner or later any high performing players or managers we have will be poached by bigger clubs. You know what? It might even happen with JBA and Aberdeen, just like as what happened with Craig Brown. But that is all hypothetical just now so until such time as it becomes reality then there really is no point losing sleep over it.
-
Is that not just part of being a Motherwell fan we don't have nice things very long before someone else comes and takes them.

And I'm discussing the fact that lots of people on here and over at P&B have our manager and half the team out the door already.
-
last time I looked its a discussion forum to discuss football topics and Aberdeen punting their manager is a topic that would generate discussion , particularly when the media are already mentioning our manager. For the life of me I cannot see any posts on this discussion reflecting a desire for our players or manager to leave .
-
Lose to Hibs, get papped out the cup by Ross County and everyone will lose interest.
-
Sometimes it feels like our fans are more keen for our managers and players to leave us than even the OF slanted media.
-
Our average crowds compared to last season, are up by about 2,000. I reckon that translates into about an extra £600,000 after VAT is deducted. We then have additional income from catering, programme sales and the like. On the debit side, increased bonuses. Back of a fag packet calculation we'll be about £500,000 up on gate income.
-
No way he will go to Dons, trust me folks..
-
I can't see Jens going to Aberdeen it wouldn't make any sense for him he's getting all the plaudits for the way we're playing. If he went to Aberdeen he'd have the same teething issues he had implementing his style here but mid-season and a fanbase who think they belong at the top of the league. I think he'll see the season out and asses his options in the summer
-
I recon that we’re pulling in an extra £10K a week but there’s also an extra outlay in win bonuses so I’m not so sure we’re making that much to sweeten anything.
-
The fact that clubs chose to let an approach take place doesn't mean they have to and in cases with our managers and the contracts we have all the refusal does it prevent the manager leaving mid season, any departure would merely be delayed 6 months and that's what we should do should an approach be made.
-
Alex McLeish? Derek McInnes? There could be some gentleman's agreement in place for all we know. All that said, he may not be interested at all.
-
JBA isn't going anywhere christ he might be more than happy at Motherwell everyone calm down sure he is going to leave us at some point but to Aberdeen nah I don't think so. Now if I was a St Mirren fan I be worried Robbo will be already speeding up the motorway as I type this after a sneaky couple of texts with Burrows.
-
The extra gate money coming in under JBA, with home crowds clearly up, should absolutely be used by the Board to sweeten his current deal. It would keep his focus on us rather than counter offers and would be a logical, now proven, investment.
-
If it came to that which I don't think it will the club most certainly can do something about it. They can refuse permission to speak to the manager .
-
No-one should be shocked at Thelin being sacked. After yesterday's result it was odds on. Have they/will they approach JBA? Who knows. Will he approach them ? Again who knows. If there is interest from either side then our Board will have no say in the matter. Thats not to say he would be interested, but money talks and he could double or treble his salary with them. Time will tell. The first test of his mettle. Anyways he can't leave for both Celtic and Aberdeen.

He has plenty pals. Should be good! 😉
