  1. Today
  2. While managers often say what fans want to hear, JBA's comments about wanting to finish the season, and the players wanting to finish the season, to see how far they can go did seem sincere. But, of course, everyone has their price and career goals.
  3. I don't even know if the media believes all the OF stories they discuss - I'm guessing they don't. It's a sad fact, however, that is how they sell papers and get listeners. Given the lack of options in January, if a club down south wanted to buy JT, I'd be telling them 7 million.
  4. Still no official confirmation on the signing of the Norwegian forward?
  5. After a couple of starts in the last two games, I see Miller also played the second half against Inter yesterday. I also see Ewan Wilson starts for Raith Rovers today. Talk about career trajectories.
  6. I'd heard that he'd knocked back Aberdeen too. How true it is we will never know but almost immediately after I'd heard the rumours his name started to drop from conversations / reports in the media about Aberdeen being interested and his odds lengthened to 6/1.
  7. I'm not sure but still needs a few stars to align for that to happy so it still makes the decision to knock back figures around £4 million almost impossible to do. As I said I wouldn't like to make the decision.
  8. Am I recalling correctly that Aberdeen went into Europe as SC winners and were straight into play off game for Europa cup? Loosing that had them Drop to conference league? So pretty much guaranteed “group stage” games as cup winner?
  9. We are in a very fruitful place right now where if any of our players go they can go for very very good money not the back of the sofa offers Celtic and Rangers think they can get them for. It feels so so good that we are not having to hedge our bets on a player coming through our youth system and we have 3-4 players right now brought to the club that can command decent money. As for Slattery everything comes to an end and this season he has looked like his mind is elsewhere thats not to stay he hasnt be trying just not at the races. His passing is all over the place, seems to slow down play alot, making the wrong calls. So for me if we can punt him now and get someone elses in i be good with that.
  10. …….and let you know in a couple of months
  11. Minimal contact from a trip can make you go down but minimal contact body to body is where some players embellish it and go down but again it’s a physical sport amd body to body contact is not necessarily a foul even if there is much stronger contact.
  12. I think his rationale is the problem. He is saying in his comments you are not allowed to go down easily regardless of the actions of the defending player. (Fernandez clearly hangs his leg). His boss just went on camera and said that going down easily doesnt matter. The contact justifies the penalty decision. Both cant be correct.
  13. A player can go down too easily but that doesn't mean is not a penalty. Not quite the same thing but I recall Richard Tait winning a foul at Easter Road and then being booked for simulation at the same time.
  14. i don't disagree with your comments, I was commenting on the referee's rationale, he thought he went down too easily. I don't think he did and neither should have VAR but they did. We shouldn't be pulling up the referee on saying what he did.
  15. Club 100 is just too big. If it was half the size it might be more manageable. I could see it getting knocked down and some houses being built there.
  16. Encouraging to see a healthy crowd of 5,547 at yesterday's game. It may not have been as much as some expected but I felt anything over 5,000 would be absolutely fine. Its put into context by crowds at Kilmarnock, Tannadice and Almondvale. Certainly not many travelling fans from Dingwall to swell numbers. Cup crowds do tend to be lower and £10/15 is quite a lot for some folk to fork out in January. Last year's attendance at Mcdiarmid Park was about 3,800 by comparison. Its up to the club to capitalise on these increased attendances in terms of hospitality & catering income but thats maybe a longer term project, given the limitations of the Centenary and Cooper Suites. Certainly the closure of Club 100, whilst regrettable, will have helped MFC.
  17. yes we did and sold it for the same reason it has closed this time. Unprofitable
  18. The Cub actually built it and then forced a sale to the Fir Park Club (evicting them from their premses under the main stand), as it had become a "white elephant" and the club were struggling to meet the financial obligations attached to the building. It was originally built as a training gym and had squash courts - rented out to the general public. There was also some ambitious plans to build an overhead covered walkway between it and the stadium. All pie in the sky sadly.
  19. Didnt we used to own it when it was The Fir Park Club? There must have been financial reasons for getting rid of it? Although, given some of the things that have happened in the past, thats not to say the Club/Well Society wouldnt be interested in taking it back on, maybe as a Community Hub?
  20. Ordinarily I would agree. I hate to see players going down too easily with insufficient contact to cause it, and Id love to see it removed from the game. That said, its not the world we live in and the authorities dont seem to want to change it, so what are we to do? The Gassama incident at Aberdeen is actually worse. Minimal contact didnt seem to be an issue there and Collum was of the opinion it met the standard and was a clear penalty. Its the inconsistency that boils folks piss. And it always appears to be inconsistent in favour of the big clubs.
  21. Wells was subbed back off after less than 30 minutes, hopefully an injury or tactical rather than a poor performance.
  22. The whole Martin Oneill at fir park looking as Maswanhise is all over the Celtic social media this morning….. please just fk the fk off!! You haveto laugh at them. no bother Celtic, pay us £9m the same as you paid for that championship donkey Adam Idah and we’ll think about it.
  23. Rumours from the East stand yesterday..... JBA knocked back the Aberdeen job. Welsh was pimped to Hearts,Hibs and Aberdeen. Aberdeen met Celtics valuation, but Welsh was not willing to travel. Apparently will be back with us next week and off down South in the summer.
  24. I would say it's exactly what a referee should be thinking and communicating to VAR, he has to be sure and communicate, he might be wrong but he only has one very quick look. I'll bet there is not one person who has been 100% certain over a decision at the game only to see a replay later and realised how wrong they were. He's giving the reason for his decision, VAR ignored that by looking for arm contact.
  25. In terms of loan players, Dylan Wells played 45 minutes for Stirling yesterday and Olly Whyte seems to have been outstanding again for Stenhousemuir.
