Ironically against the same team as today , and on penalties, Liverpool also won the league that year and Leeds got promoted Hopefully an omen
-
Don’t really care too much about league cup. Would be nice to win it, but for me, it lost a lot once they took away the European place.
-
Dons last won Scottish cup in 90.......we won following year. Hope that's an omen

Healy is hard to judge, when Linfield are far and away the biggest club in that league. He's also coming up on 10 years there, so there's a decent chance that his next job might be a tricky one to adjust to. I imagine the same rumored guys from last time that are still unemployed will be brought up again, like Evatt, VdG, Ketsbaia, and the gobshite club of fotheringham, courts, and the like. At least last time we had the rumored german link which led to the papers phoning some random German i posted on P&B.

The actual transfer window doesn't "slam shut" until 1st September, so from that perspective there is plenty of time. Most of the players are off for a fortnight in Ibiza at this point, so the ideal timing would be to have a new man in place early June. There is a risk the league cup group stages might be a complete write-off as new players and new ideas are put into place, but more important that we get things right going into the new league campaign.
-
For me that's a big worry as whoever comes in will have a very short window with no idea of what the team needs re new players and probably be listening to Clarkson, Foster or Obika for advice which gives me the fear.
-
Uh huh huh
-
Exactly , a bunch of lazy gits.
-
David Healy has been mentioned for a number of Scottish vacancies and still is, but he continually distances himself from them. As others have said I suspect that our next manager will be someone left field or unexpected and not picked from a bookies' list.
-
Can hopefully rule scott brown out as he is also working as an elvis tribute act.
-
Apparently I copy and paste my jokes, a terrible accusation. 🤣 Ps. Cue..........ba boom 🤣🤣
-
That’s so unfair, it must be really difficult to sit on Twitter all day and then copy and paste other folks story’s into headline news.
-
The Scottish media are the biggest bunch of useless and lazy barstewards on earth.
-
Bookies (and the media) haven't come close to correctly predicting our managers in recent history.
-
What an awful selection of dross that is. Likewise if Van der gaag wants the job he’s got really good experience now and will have built up a lot on contacts I’d presume. I’d like us to still look at the foreign coach angle and a bit of freshness to our approach as oppose to the usual monotony churned out.
-
Just like every other time, the bookies list is made up nonsense, and fluctuates based on the betting patterns of a very small group of people who actually care about motherwell enough to bet on their next manager. We could probably get a random candidate at the top of that list just by sticking his name in here. I forgot robbie Neilson existed, hopefully he considers himself too big for this job.
-
I think David Healy could be worth considering. He was close to taking the Raith Rovers job so is obviously interested in managing in Scotland. He has done a very good job at Linfield and whenever I’ve seen him analyse Northern Ireland matches he comes across very well. It’s the type of left field appointment we could make.
-
I know what you mean, but the hoop and/or band has only been used on about 50% of our kits in our history. Even when I started watching us around 1970, we only had one hoop season until 1984. Our kit in the 1925-26 season looked like this: I'd be OK if we did that as a tribute 100 years later.

Whatever the real story is - no team can afford to have a manager (or player) that doesn't want to be there. Look at Amorim at Man U. Even before their cup loss, he was letting everyone know he wouldn't even ask for compensation if the sacked him. There could genuinely be family issues, he might just have been homesick, or he might have looked at the possibility of Livi being promoted and thought "I can't work in any tinpot league that allows 25% of their clubs to play on plastic" From the club's perspective, I was happy they tried something like this and disappointed it didn't work out. It was certainly a better idea than the times we had people on here suggesting Tommy Wright should be appointed as a "safe pair of hands". At least the new man will be able to bring in a few of his own players over the summer and get a pre-season to prepare.

The Wolf of Wall Street right enough. 😂

bookies early list has led me to drinking early in the afternoon , not much there to inspire. Last time I thought Van Der Gaag was close to the job. As an assistant at AJAX and Man Utd I'd be happier for someone like him to join. https://news.bet365.com/en-gb/article/football-next-motherwell-manager-potential-contenders/2025052315032484636 Robbie Neilson . Managed 400 games with 50% win record. Experience in SPL Scott Brown. 130 games 40% win record. No experience managing SPL. Des Buckingham. 176 games 40$ win record. Maining in Nz & Oxford. Steven Naismith. 65 games win record 43%. Tony Docherty. 90 games. 30% win record.

numpty started following Our New Manager Who Do We Want....Again?

Nothing said publicly about how long it was on the club statement when he was appointed. Potentially 12 month rolling contract but that's just an assumption on my part.
-
I can't find how long Wimmer's contract was, as that would surely have been a factor in the compensation discussion.

Because at the end of the day they'll have got him on a bargain. The guy wanted away so the clubs hands were tied. A price is agreed between the clubs undoubtedly in their favour because if it isn't Wimmer walks and we get fa.
