Is there maybe something going on in the background that is affecting the group? Don’t think lobby is far from reality with the senior player comment from Rosenberg emerging at Fir Park I don’t think he should be sacked just now and needs to be given time but he also needs to realise his approach isn’t working with the players he has and the players that are constantly under performing need dropped. Fadinger and said are the mainstay of us being able to perform and need played in their best positions. I won’t be popular with this but that means there is no place for Lowry. We got away with luxury players last season as Slats, Watt and Just were unbelievable and they had Fadi , Said and an in form massenahise around them . They’ve gone now and when we don’t have the quality we need a couple of leaders and battlers - masswahise , Cook, Hodge, Lowry, Kanga aren’t the players for that sadly We have enough quality to do ok when everyone is fit but the balance , fitness, shape and tactics need to be right. My biggest worry is our goalkeeper isn’t big enough or good enough and we have no real back up. Combine that we no real leader it could be a long and difficult few months

It wasn't a tough call for me. His priority was different to what it would have been for me. The Domestic Cups should ALWAYS be the priority, I know others think differently.

All i will say is Jens made huge errors in both cup competitions last season. AJ had a tough call to make in league cup and it didn't work, players culpable also

Different for everyone I suppose good experience but to me it’s only a success if u make the league stage ( we were up against it with the draw ) Come the end of the season it’ll be looked upon fondly, but ultimately league position & cup runs for me will determine if it was a good season get people have different expectations though

we weren't as bad as everyone makes out yesterday, we were alot worse against Aberdeen

The attendances will ultimately drop off at some point, if some folk dont want the tough times, thats their call. They were always fairweather fans, we aren't always going to be successful , they're will always be a core support and hopefully have maybe got another 1000 added onto it.

Were Rosenborg not in financial difficulty and had to sell a lot of players? Think crisis time is a bit off yet.

Yes, thats my fear too. If fans see a measure of progress both in terms of an entertaining playing style and results they'll stick with us. If they are more in line with last Tuesday and yesterday they'll drift away. Thats football though.

Well said. I've been a bit taken aback by the reaction here to the last three games. A week is a long time in politics, it's said, and the same can be said for football. Things can change very quickly and we should wait and see how AJ uses the three week international break to remould his line-up. We are in a period of transition and i think we are missing the influence of SOD and Paul McGinn to steady the troops. They are great senior pros and the coach needs to draw on their experience, imo. Unfortunately, I don't know if Paul will be playing any time soon but Stephen is an obvious replacement for Tom Sparrow, who isn't an RB but has been pressed into service there. Our defence needs an organiser on the pitch. I feel P-H and Thor need a run out together. If AJ still has faith in Maswanhise, he should surely be employed as an OAO winger to augment Longelo on the left. Lots of work to do for the coaching staff in the next few weeks........

I do think we lack leadership on the pitch. A voice to coach the players through what the manager wants implementing. Last year we had McGinn, SOD & Watt all dictating things and driving standards. I had hoped Fadinger might be that guy this year as the continuity player, but he doesnt appear to be overly vocal, so maybe not his bag. McGinn is supposed to be back training soon, but having SOD in there meantime would help, probably at RCB, rather than RB, albeit you would either have to put Jake or JKL out there.

Missed the games since st Mirren tbf but sod got ripped apart by their winger ( maybe a level of fitness though ) it’s an area either way that should have been addressed

Completely agree - SOD should have been in the rangers game. same for those who need subbed - people need to know they have to perform or someone else gets the start

I agree with a lot of that but Maswanhise and RCC need to be benched that is all they are good for right now. We also need to get SOD back in the team. We need to give Eythor a run , he rumbled Dundee up more in 8 mins than the rest of the team did in 80 mins.

Think a lot of what you say makes sense but can we ever build up good will as every season it’s a new build we have a good season we lose our best players / manager we have a bad season we look to bin players / managers I’m not comparing this season to last because even if jens stayed im not convinced we’d have repeated the level think it’s been a poor start regardless of last season & the performances as others have said have been more concerning I’m not convinced in 3 weeks time we’ll see a better Motherwell but more than happy to be proved wrong Maybe jens benefited from having an understanding of the British game than Alfred doesn’t?

Im hopeful that we can sort some of this out. Defence - Tighten up through having .SOD (JK when fit). JKL Moorman Williams - would be stronger than what we've been doing. This is where I'd start and expect immediate improvement. Midfiled - we need Pressman back + I'd recall Whyte. He offered more phsycicality and we're missing this. Wide areas - if we push Longelo, Sparrow up here we have options along side JT,RCC, Vogt. These changes I think would solve a chunk of our problems - be interesting to see if the gaffer mixes things up.

Too early to be really worrying. My big fear , and I see and feel it building already, is the fans reaction.. We have had a great upturn in home crowds crowds and home games have bee a pleasure to go to for nearly a year. Ive a feeling this reaction will grow in the stands and our crowds start to fall and those who remain are easily hostile. This will benefit no one. A home win against Celtic although highly unlikely could help stem that.

again I'm not sure Id put the Dundee game into the bad game category as the Aberdeen and to a lesser extent the Rangers game. Sure it was a hard loss and it being the 3rd on the trot I think it altered the perception of how we actually played. Had we gone up there unbeaten and got a point I don't think people would have said we were pish yesterday. Sure there were things we could have done better, esp in the final 3rd, but Dundee wouldn't have beat us if we hadn't beat ourselves. Dundee were very lucky to get that win.

I get that 100% mate , last year was probably once in a lifetime stuff for us and it will be hard for everyone to adjust to what will be or new norm ... sadly

Nice to see you fighting the good fight. I think this is a really good summary of where we are. We are giving Dundee no credit for their performance. The assumption is that Dundee are shite when in actual fact they have made a very solid start to the season. The reaction to the last three games has been eye opening to say the least. The good will of the last 18 months has been wiped out in 15days. Is that really any display of a commitment to the cause? 15 days ago Rangers fans were calling for Derek McIness to be sacked. Look at the goodwill at Ibrox now. Having saved Celtic's season last term, MON was booed at Parkhead today. A football fans support is very fleeting and transient and based almost purely on emotion. There was a BBC article during the week discussing if Hibs should follow the Motherwell blueprint for manager recruitment. Is that blueprint now redundant because we are on a run of three bad games? Remember JBA lost to Dundee back in April will a not too dissimilar performance. We need some perspective .

I will be honest, wasn't convinced when he joined, felt the lack of playing experience and age combined made for a combination that players may find difficult to get behind. Someone close to your own age that has never done your job telling you what to do, how to do it and that they know better can be a difficult pill to swallow. I know it can be done and has been done before, but I just get the impression AJ doesn't have the right personality to back it, he doesn't come across as someone that has a lot of presence about him. I don't think (just from observation) that the players have baught in and there are several operating right now way below their usual standard. Not all on the manager, the players need to sort themselves out. He will be given time, but I hope that we don't do our usual and cling on too long before pressing the button on it. We've seen it before with the drop off in attendance etc and after all the good work we have done getting numbers up I'd hate to see it all be undone.
