Whilst a winger would be good, people are kidding themselves if they think it is going to solve all our problems. A winger might help Sutton become more effective but its not going to address the form issues of several others.

Our budget is surely at breaking point also?

How the fuck would anyone on here know if our budget is at breaking point?

Agree with that. A winger is not going to help us drive at teams through the middle the way Nicky Law or Ojamma used to do. A winger, if he's half decent will provide us an out ball. If he's good then he'l be man marked in a couple of games and back to square one.

The reason we were so good last season was that aside from Lasley and Higdon, all our middle to front players were creative flair players that could make things happen.

Mark Humphrey and Faddy, no problem, Law and Ojamma stepped up and used the space. With the greatest respect to our new signings, I can't see them doing the same.

No, but it may well release McFadden to be involved in a more central role in support to the central striker be that Sutton or Anier. It will most certainly offer width and offer a greater variety of attacking options.

Not a silver bullet by any manner of means, but would certainly be a step in the right direction.

Last year's team was last year's team.I'm not sure why everyone is expecting the new players, with a different style, to perform in the manner of last year's team. This team is clearly struggling to find it's own identity and it will take a wee while for that to bed in. You don't just magically flip a switch and everything is hunky dory after two weeks.

Patience.

Plus, as good as Law was, I think in Lawson/Vigurs we have a couple of players with a much better range of passing, more capable of quickly switching the direction of play to the wings. Unfortunately we haven't had anyone using that space effectively yet, but if McCall can add a bit of pace, and work on ZFA's confidence, then we've definitely got the ability to exploit it quickly.

Total agreement with this.

Even by our standards, the impatience and panic shown by some is pretty amazing 2 games into the league season.

Last year's team was a team that took 4 years (and 3 managers) to build and peak. It started after the last major exodus of players requiring Gannon to rebuild. We finished 5th during that first season of rebuilding and to repeat that season would be a decent return.

Any team at any level would take time for so many new players to gel, and even if the management had an idea of the best formation when he signed the new recruits, it's not until they all get on the park that he can see what does and doesn't work. What we have now is not close to a finished product - it's the starting point for a new one. It looks like there will be one more addition before the window closes, but no doubt there will be some tweaking during the next window too. Plus, we should be looking to blood some of the younger players as circumstances permit.

Anyone that had expectations of us starting the season as favourites or contenders for 2nd spot this season must be new to the game. If we can get into the top 6 this time around that will have been a decent a achievement given our constraints. We may be lucky enough to hit the heights of last season some time in the future, but it's not going to happen the year after we lose 7 of our first team squad.

This is a transition season. So a wee bit of perspective will go a long way.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

If we finish top 6 this season i'll be over the moon. We Will definately not be relegated and i can see a decent run in one of the cups. Folk on here are getting carried away with out recent success.

Seemed to work ok for Aberdeen to bed a load of new players in and get some fluency and creativity with less competitive games as well. Not having a go just looking at it from the opposite view.

Same back four basically. And kept their main threats in McGinn and Hayes. And if I'm being honest, they weren't replacing players as good as we were replacing...
