Holding them up as some sort of virtue in comparison with rest of the team playing badly is a nonsense. I'm not sure the analogy with regards applause - verging on the ridiculous that. He had a wee spell where he looked as if he would do the business, hence the cries for contract extensions. Sadly has reverted backwards. Confidence is low. In fact I would say Shields, Mugabi and if we are unfortunate very soon Tierney, Spittal and Morris could all be lacking in confidence.
fizoxy 635 Report post Posted August 5 The prospect of a Sol and Bevis partnership is both terrifying and intriguing. Stick SOD and Carroll either side and it will be box office, in a bad way. If mcginn is fit we could maybe go with a back three, but I don't see it, as I'm not sure Sol can handle the left sided role.Hammel did mention that he wanted to make more changes for last week, but didn't have the time. Maybe we see that on Saturday? Hopefully the players turn it up a notch in front of their next boss. Maybe some candidates will be in the stands. It's going to be a shitfest of a game, but at this stage all I care about is getting the three points.
wellsince75 247 Report post Posted August 5 I’d rather we play a back 3. For this game hoping ojala is back and play McGinn , Solhom and ojala That enables slattery as a holding midfielder to connect play and add width and depth to the misfiled Time is our biggest enemy , not sold 7 days will have been enough time for hammel to make the changes he alluded to

MelvinBragg 985 Report post Posted August 5 Personally I'd be going Kelly O'Donnell Mugabi Solholm Carroll Slattery (if available) Maguire Goss Spittal Van Veen Tierney If Slattery is unavailable, I'd be moving Tierney back to midfield and playing Shields up top. If Spittal is a creator of chances as his Ross County stats last season suggest, let's get him where he can do damage. Tierney is one of the few fearless players in the squad who will run at players and not just take a touch and toss a hopeful cross in or play a safe pass. Rest of the team picks itself due to lack of options. Morris can sell the pies. Not anywhere near good enough...
joewarkfanclub 932 Report post Posted August 5 I think our hand will be forced somewhat tomorrow with injuries and suspensions. With McGinn, Lamie and Slattery all likely to be out. Id still like to see us move away from 4-3-3 and with a weeks extra training it should be possible. Something like Kelly SOD Mugabi Sol Carroll Maguire Cornelius Spittal Goss Tierney KVV

It's clear we need signings that are direct up front. Slattery is suspended, is McGinn fit? Tierney hasn’t had a good match as a starter, although this is likely to be due to where he has been played.
Kat 143 Report post Posted August 5 I'm looking forward to seeing our approach to the game this week, Hammell only had the one training session after Alexander's departure and he mentioned pre match he would have wanted to change more in regards to tactics and team selection but his hands were obviously tied so it'll be interesting to see if we shift formation and what lineup he'll plump for. I wouldn't actually be surprised to see Stevie firing in the likes of Speirs before Tierney or Cornelius. Another win here would be massive, like us last week St Johnstone struggled creatively up top, you can't help but feel the game won't be a classic and it'll either finish 0-0 or someone sneaking it by a goal, I miss the days of Chris Humphrey tearing them to shreds at Fir Park. Willie Collum is the ref for tomorrows game.

With the current squad, I’d suggest a 352 to flood the midfield and start to create from there. It’s worth a try. We've not made any signings, and we're not going to have McGinn, Slattery (maybe), and Lamie, so I am pretty much at a loss what to suggest other than to predict the tried and failed 433. I do, however, think the players might pull it out the bag tomorrow and give us a 1-0 shitfest.

I reckon he's been played out of position, I could be wrong though. For me, he needs to be further up the park. Morris looks to have no engine and seems to specialise in crossing on to opposition centre half's foreheads. Good left foot? Sure but so does Sean Goss (and I can't believe I'm about to say this) and he works harder than Morris...
GazzyB 1,340 Report post Posted August 5 It’ll be very interesting to see what Hammell goes with. He hinted last week that he wanted to make changes to shape/personnel but didn’t have the time in the build up to the game. He’s had a whole week now and if we line up the same shape/personnel as last week it’ll be slightly underwhelming. How long is Lamie suspended for? I’m surprised it wasn’t extended as it really was a shocking challenge.
