  1. Some of our support are absolutely miles out. David Turnbull is a Motherwell fan. He signed an extension with us to ensure the club would benefit from his sale instead of doing a Hastie. Ok he has moved to Celtic. However, he has done so in the knowledge that a couple good seasons he will move on and our club will earn another significant windfall. He will undoubtedly go on to be one of the best talents to come out of Scotland in recent years. We should be delighted that he is one of us and that he got his start at Fir Park. It wont be nice to see him come back to FirPark in the green and white. But we need to suck it up and respect what he has done for us.

  2. Fuck wishing him good luck at Celtic. This is a club who have repeatedly cheated against us and criticised us several times over the last couple of seasons. Their fans will be gleefully sticking the knife in come August after he knocked back the EPL to join them and he'll be doing his best to ensure we get nothing from the game. Fuck Celtic and everyone connected with them.

  3. Would be an absolutely mental move. The chance to get out of our backwater league to develop at an EPL team under a very good coach is something young Scottish players should be walking over hot coals for. To throw that away to work with Lennon and Kennedy at Celtic, under the cloud of shit that will come over the next 2 seasons is bewildering.

  4. Once he pulls on the green and grey he's just another Celtic player. It's a sore one the now but he only played 30 games so it will be quickly forgotten. The bigger is the club demonstrating that they have bigger ambitions for the playing side than simply funding the non playing side.

  5. Given that this is a done deal, immediate focus now turns to the club. What will be done with the cash?. I like many others believe we are bereft of quality and probably need at least 4 players (winger, 2 strikers and central midfielder) which can significantly increase the standard of the group and that means reinvestment Of the cash. I’m now expecting Burrows to come out with a statement to the fans about such planning. We need to a route forward and to engage our own support and it needs to happen now.

  7. And I guarantee you fans of other clubs will swear blind that we've cheated them, slagged them off, and acted like arseholes to them too. And they won't all be wrong.

  8. Norwich would have been an ideal move for him, he will need to hit the ground running to win over that mob if the deal goes through. Will be glad when this whole saga is over tbh and we can get on with concentrating on the new season.

  9. The bidding war stuff is a bit fanciful. Its not football manager. Clubs, agents etc will all be in the loop with whats going on and know what the craic is with fees etc.

  10. Burrows made it clear we decided to deal at that price and listed a whole host of reasons why it would be too risky to hold out for a better bid. That doesn't happen If there's a release clause. If there was, and our initial statement was to soften the blow to the fans of losing our star player to 'them' then why not just come out and say Celtic have triggered his release and we have to let them talk to him. I think most would have begrudgingly accepted that. This is looking like a missed opportunity the longer it goes on.

  13. Tell them to bolt and we'll find someone else to finish bottom six. We have had already had a situation where Nicky Law was getting paid more than most of his team mates and it worked ok.

  14. What do we do when the senior players that we hope to renew, demand 3k a week as well because they know we have 3 guys being paid that? Just direct the calls to you aye? And if we find out one of those players isn't cutting it and we're stuck paying them 3k a week for 3 years to sit on the bench, will you post again and tell us what to do?

  15. Exactly hes an ex Motherwell player now don't. Mind you none of the Celtic fans seem to have picked up on the "next stage of my development comment" he doesn't see Celtic anything other than a stepping stone. They are just a bigger diddy club that feeds bigger clubs

  18. No way should he get pelters folk need to remember he didnt need to sign a 3 year contract he did so out of a love of the club and to safeguard us he could have done what Hastie did and we get fuck all.

  19. Plenty of game time for him at Celtic as Mcgregor off to Leicester and NtCham heading back to France. Giving Celtic a net profit of around £27m. Great business by them and they can also stash a bundle in the old biscuit tin. I actually think it’s a great move for Turnbull and wish him every success. He deserves it for what he has done for our wee Club. Still hurts though and Norwich would have been better. But it’s his choice and he will have valid reasons. On a different matter and from several comments on here, it’s hilarious to see Hastie already written off as never going to feature for Rangers. Well thought of by Gerrard so don’t take it for granted that he will automatically be loaned out. All depends on how he performs in pre season. Unlike Middleton, who was loaned out last week, I gather he is joining Rangers on their pre season trip to Germany. Once registered of course. Also depends on what happens with Kent. Both players had life changing decisions to make and although they chose different routes, good luck to them both. £3.5m or so brought in over a period of weeks from our Youth Academy. That’s the real story. Could never have dreamt of that 10 months ago. Next batch please!

  20. If he’s gone i’d rather we just moved on in truth, no point in any self destructive mud slinging at those working within the club. Debt wiped off and and new beginning as a debt free club that can re-invest everything we take in, just need to make the right decisions on how that’s done.

  22. It wasn't but a week ago that most people were saying he'd likely not be a shoe-in for regular first team football at Celtic. I still think that's the case. In fact, if you look at Celtic's midfield and compare it with Norwich's midfield I think Celtic have the better players. I also don't buy this notion that playing a few games in Europe for Celtic is more of a selling point than playing against some of Europe's best on a regular basis. I had this same discussion with a Celtic supporting mate this morning. He said "Aye, but Norwich can't offer European football. Imagine playing against one or two of the biggest teams in Europe depending on if we get to the group stages and who we get in the draw." Some of the biggest teams in Europe? Like Liverpool, Manchester City, Spurs, Manchester United, Arsenal, and Chelsea? You mean the teams he'd be lining up against during a regular season in England? The same teams that Celtic would hope to get in the draw should they make it to the group stages of the Champions League? Unless the boy has went down there and quickly realised that he's not got what it takes at the moment to make a dent at that level I find this to be a strange situation. A move to Celtic is seen as a potential stepping stone to the big time of the Premiership by many players. Turnbull had the chance to bypass the stepping stone and go straight to the big time, working with a top, up & coming coach in Farke, earning more money, and getting the chance to test yourself against some of the best in the game on a near weekly basis. Even if he went to Norwich and it didn't work out, and he left in a few years time, he'd more than likely come out of the experience as a much better footballer than he will be if he stays in Scotland as part of a club that basically steamrollers 99% of the competition. He'll now go to Celtic, and if he does really well he may eventually earn a move to a lower end Premiership club....like Norwich? Yeah, fuck knows what he's thinking, but good luck to the lad whatever he does.

  23. True we need some positives on the field. Looseing our younger players that didnt even play first team games to England is even more soul destroying. At times it seems like a production line of products to sell on and quality on park always suffers. I'm tired of losing players every time they have a few good games. I was hoping to keep some of the quality young players as core to have a real go in the cups. Even if replacements do well when they come in. That means theres a fair chance they could be off by xmas and miss scots cup. Only so much you can take of that. Getting tiresome. Would be richer club but less fans. Probably not go too often this season unless we get more inspiring replacements.

  24. Hope it's just a turn of phrase, note Steven Robinson on SSN saying we hoped to add "a couple more" signings Really hope we're looking for more than two more players. ..

  25. True. Boys done well by the club and wish him well. He sacrificed a large signing on fee and club got more. We have seen a few well players move on to Celtic and back and should keep good working relations with them. May be chance of getting Morgan on Loan.

  27. Lennon on SSN confirming Turnbull will have his medical this morning and sign this afternoon. Good luck to the kid, huge decision for a 19 year old and the last few weeks won’t have been easy. He’ll inevitably end up in England (or abroad) but maybe he saw the jump to Norwich too big at the moment. Rather than potentially being on the fringes of an EPL team that are likely to be battling relegation he can play a central role in Celtic winning 10 IAR. Then with plenty of goals and a few medals under his belt, he may be ready for an established EPL team at the age of 21.

  28. Okay, so feel free to step in and tell me if I am talking rubbish because it is Friday night here in NZ and I have been drinking, but joining them, and they are a rival however you wish to spin it, is just sh*t when there are options to go elsewhere, as he will come back to show us how good he has become with monotonous regularity and there is something distasteful in hoping that a guy you loved watching turns out to be cr@p. We really just shouldn’t do it.

  31. We have made it perfectly clear that he's for sale. If there was serious interest from down South, they should have made a bid. You say that we gave in to the first larger bid. You make it sound like we took a bid of £800k. We received and accepted a bid of £3m for a player that has made 30 first team appearances. Doesn't seem unreasonable to me...

  32. If I was writing this, that’s exactly what I’d do. Classic cliffhanger for a second series. Netflix should be all over this. I also fully expect to wake up tomorrow to find out that Turnbull never played for us in the first place.

  33. If he insisted on a release clause I’d be very surprised if he/ his agent would agree to it being £3 million. I also think that it would have been common knowledge by now.

  35. Its becoming very clear that there's a release clause in his contract probably based on a £3m bid. I'm speculating but suspect he wouldn't have signed a new deal without it. Unlikely therefore that there would ever have been a bidding war.
