I agree with this 100%. One of the downsides to the Internet age is that people can hide behind forums and post anonymously with little to no repercussions or consequence. It gives a voice to a minority that can then influence a mood or sporting landscape more than the reality reflects. When you actually look at the brief summary of Robinsons achievements, posted by the club itself, it his hard to marry the reality with the criticism ( and on rare occasions abuse) that has been a feature on this forum. Two Cup Finals, a 3rd place finish, European football, a strong financial balance sheet. Hold you head high SR. It would be interesting to look under a microscope at the daily business of some of the vocal anonymous critics and see if they too could hold their head high. This is a culture that is not going to go away and any manager good or bad will have a 2-3 year shelf life. I think we will look back on Robinson's time as some of the better in Motherwell's history. The managers change. The critics are ever present.5 points

As one of Robbo's biggest fans that was quite a tough read. A man who gave his absolute all to this club. Some of the abuse he took on here from certain individuals was/is shameful.5 points

Like Tanner and Taylor-Sinclair who were last playing with Plymouth when we signed them. Or Polworth and Fisher from Inverness. You don't rate the Director of Recruitment, fair enough. Making up shite to embelish your point only diminishes it.4 points

What's a St Johnstone style performance? One where they come from a goal down against us and win 2-1 regularly? Come to Fir Park and play us off the park in a 5-1 win? TW is by no means Guardiola, but this "terrible football" myth that follows him around is bizarre. The same lazy reporting that labels Motherwell as "hammer throwers" for the last four years or that the Fir Park pitch is full of sand springs to mind. Looking at that alleged shortlist. Lasley I do not want in charge, Grayson hasn't been successful in a job in a good few years and Alexander, whilst relatively experienced for a manager of his age, has zero experience of Scottish Football. We could do a lot worse than Tommy Wright as our new gaffer.4 points

Or alternatively, us activating a clause in his contract protecting the clubs financial interests. A club that has allowed him to build that platform. Nobody is denying him that move. But we all know they can afford to buy him if they want. Why bend over to Celtic? Gallagher signed the contract with us, clauses and all. Fuck him if he doesn’t like it. The last thing we should be doing is allowing him to walk for free. If they want him, pay for him. It really is that simple. We’re not a bloody charity club.4 points

If they agreed to that Burrows would be as well asking for a ride at big Alex Gerrard as well3 points

“.....it could be argued that Tommy Wright was the man who revived TonyWatt's career and not the fabled Robbo.” looks like a dig to me.2 points

Lets be fair we have been pretty lucky and hit a few gems but we have also hit a number of utter duds! But who is to say that a new manager coming might not get something out a Seedorf?Might get a bit more out Grimshaw? This crop this season you couldnt give them away been really really poor. Thats the beauty of the new manager coming in its a clean slate they might see something others couldnt.By looking at things and needing we 100 percent need a really good man manager right now if anything confidence utterly destroyed so from the off belief needs to be reinstalled. Onwards and upwards!1 point

Theres a big difference between first team players in league 1 & 2, and reserves or players in the Conference & Lower. It looks like this Transfer Guru we have is only able to scout players within a short distance from his Newcastle home. Someone like Alexander would have far better and widespread contacts. Theres also a fair difference between building a team of Academy players, some of the better Scottish players and a handful of decent lower league English players and filling a team with a dozen shiters from the Gateshead League North1 point

Whoever gets job we all need to get behind them and give them all the support they need. At this moment I would take 10th and rebuild for next season. COYW1 point

I saw Stephen odonnell in Tim Hortons yesterday, was going to ask for £15 refund from sat game!! Lol1 point

Aye it could be the Wright /Lasley dream team, why is it that Tommy wright who was criticised for years at St Johnstone for his approach to the game, took them from mid table mediocrity and left them there with no real progression, is suddenly being talked up as if he was Klopp, or the special one, and as for experience of the Scottish game, its somebody with no experience of some of the dross that passes for football in this country that we need, a fresh and new approach.1 point

I'd assume the source close to Gallacher is his agent, and he's just sounding out other clubs/trying to get things moving by citing this clause. If his agent can get him a move to Celtic off the back of his performances this season then he deserves every penny of that commission.1 point

Grimshaw and a few others that aren't good enough at this level have made a good living off our generosity at handing out wages from not much return. I'm sure there are young guys at the club that can give you enthusiasm and might even make a pass once in a while. Nothing against him personally but if you are 4 seasons in at a club and you aren't a stick on first teamer then its time to move on.....or get moved on. Keeping senior players on that aren't good enough for the first XI in insanity and one of the reasons our squad isn't good enough.1 point

If it firstly brings safety and later success I’m all for it. We have a proud top flight record to keep (35 odd years?) and I’d like to hold on to that a little longer. I think only Celtic and Aberdeen can say similar. No time to be taking managerial risks when we are in such a precarious situation. I would stick with the tried and tested for the time being.1 point

Whoever the successful candidate is he will have to be a strong man manager. I have no inside information but suspect,no more, that there are dressing room/motivational issues. We'll need a fair few new players but can't change the whole squad and so he'll need to ship out or handle under performers.1 point

I presume Archer knew he was away and the deal was done so I suspect he made himself unavailable as per instructions from Middlesbrough not wanting to risk any Injury to the player before he got there, so I will give Las the benefit of tbe doubt on that one.1 point
-
So as per the Club tweet, Jordan Archer has left to join Middlesboro? So he WAS still at the club last weekend? That right there (if true) is why Keith Lasley shouldnt even be interviewed for the job! We had a good, competent keeper sitting in the stand and played that fucking bombscare instead??1 point
-
I hope a lot of emphasis in the interviews would be what players any applicant can get to sign for us in January because as much as we need a new manager we also need new blood on the field, particularly if Campbell ODonnell and Gallagher might be on their merry way.1 point
-
TBH that gives me the fear, we need a fresh input rather than a reboot of the previous regime, Wrights style at St J was brutal at times, yes he made them hard to beat and may be what we need to keep us up right now, but we need stability and a manager in who can bring new ideas etc to rebuild the squad, past this season.1 point
-
would agree with that, of the 4 Alexander is the most experienced with probably a good contact network in the lower leagues in England which to be fair is the market we will be buying from1 point

There are likely to be quite a few players leaving this window. Sadly it is also likely to be our better players who are in demand. Even if Celtic are interested in Gallacher I hope there are more clubs otherwise we can expect the usual derisory bid which would take us right back to the Carson scenario. We would quite rightly tell them to do one and we are left with a disgruntled player / captain. If he has a contract that means he could be here for another year after the summer that makes it very interesting as we are less likely to accept a poor offer. If there is any truth in this story and Celtic played fair and offered say £750-£1m+ then we could hand a fair chunk of that to any new Manager for the obvious rebuilding job that would be required. That would still leave the Turnbull money or most of it ring fenced. It could be a win win for both the player and the club.1 point

it's paper talk, everything is paper talk, the guy has spoke nothing about good things since he joined the club, he doesn't owe us anything as such, it's a deal that has worked very well for both parties, he's not far away from his thirties, his stock is as high as it's ever been, he probably has one more big move in him before that stock quickly depreciates, a move that could set him for life financially. Surely we should all know by now that slurs like that from these papers should be taken with a huge pinch of salt.1 point

OK, no more baseball cracks. But a captain desperate to leave a sinking ship is pure class. Is that what you call an intentional walk?1 point

I don't think Robinson was losing any sleep over what folk were saying about him on here TBH1 point
-
That was my thoughts to when i read his comments on robinsons mental health,it was a daft thing to come away with especially after the performances against the likes of st mirren and kilmarnock which ultimately made robinson chuck it,if him and the rest cared about robinsons wellbeing they would have bucked up there ideas long ago.theres a few remarks and backhanded comments made over the last few days that is a real cause for concern,i can't think of many times over the years where there is clearly big problems in the dressing room as what there appears to be the now.1 point

IMO the want away players not giving their all are O'Donnell, Gallagher and Campbell.1 point
