I see Maguire more a back up to Donnelly in the steely defensive midfield role. Slattery showed today he has a lot more about him than that. Very composed on the ball, can pick a pass and can handle himself as well. Looks like we may have won a watch there.
My big Ayr United supporting mate lost his mum suddenly during the week...he'll be watching the game tonight with his dad, having a few beers.
Football is only a game, but tonight it might help put a wee smile on his face and give them both a very small element of respite, after an incredibly tough week for the family.
Yip...very strange stuff.
He was a smashing player for us, scored some very important goals, never threw his toys out the pram looking for a move, got us a bit of cash when he did, speaks highly about the Club...and then boo'd off some fucking weirdos.
It was also really encouraging to see the number of our fans on their feet applauding the team at the end. Just goes to show that the fans will back a team that is entertaining and shows real honest endeavour, regardless of the result!
"Just the beginning in the road to relegation! Disappointed Graham? Disappointerd are us....37 more losses are coming!"
Just noticed this btl comment on GA's post-match interview on YouTube.
Not sure if it's Mrs Polworth or a distant relative of Yodo.
Forgot to say how cringe-making was the booing of Murphy today. Thankfully enough folk around me in the POD drowned out the sad wee diddies. Good to see Jamie cuddling our kit-man at the end.
lots of positives - moving forward we have several options and plenty of people who'll cause teams issues.
We need to learn how to hold onto a lead, whether it's change shape, hold onto the ball etc. hopefully that will come with experience and time.
Plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
Really enjoyed that today. Plenty of positives to take as Alexander appears to be assembling a team with character and quality. Unfortunately however, the end result was to be expected given the lack of game time Slattery, Mugabi and Donnelly have under their belts, combined with a lack of attacking options off the bench.
Hopefully we can pick up a victory early on and provide the team with some breathing space to bed in new players and get everyone up to speed.
KVV was a delight to watch. If Alexander can get a tune out of him on a weekly basis then we have a striker capable of making a huge impact.
Can’t agree their midfield gave us a lesson on how to keep the ball and good interlink passing that had our midfield chasing shadows.
Think Slattery will do ok he ran out of steam today but we’re still a man short in there Donnelly was posted missing today.
I like Maguire, because he has a bit of football in him too. Still a bit raw at times, but more first team games should get help him get rid of the odd rash tackle and overambitious pass.
