I'm not quite sure why people seem to think Watt doesn't want to be here? He's looking like he'll sign a deal with United for next season, but that doesn't mean he suddenly can't be bothered and doesn't want to be here now?
I'm fairly certain that he's thoroughly enjoyed his time here, and if we could match what United offered I think he'd have happily stayed. But we couldn't or didn't choose to, so he's right to take the deal that works best for his family's future.
Until he leaves though, I'm sure we'll get 100% out of him. Be it end the of the season or next month with a transfer fee.
Must have been the steam I was watching which was different to others posting . Thought we played very well and could have scored more. Thought we were well worth the win.
Made it harder for ourselves in true Motherwell fashion but that was an excellent win and two brilliant goals by KvV to leave us sitting comfortable in 4th going into the break.
Well done Motherwell
Fuck Tony Watt
I don't think we were as bad as some on here are making out, we didn't dominate the game but we were well worth the three points.
Two brilliant goals from Van Veen. If he'd got the third at the end it would have been an all time classic hat trick.
Disappointing to see Sondre go off, thought he was excellent but luckily the break has come.
Sitting in 4th at the break, cannae argue.
Why don’t we all just try and stay as safe as possible instead of getting in a rage because there’s a reduced capacity at a game of football. “ perspective”
The idea of not playing our top scorer is madness. If he's still committed to the cause then I'd play him, and I'm sure Alexander will know what to do. Happy to trust his judgement on it.
Good win today, performance not great but it’s the win that counts, good to see Donnelly getting a good 90, hopefully a forward line boost in January, life after Tony Watt looking good, hope United go on the downward spiral and we stay chasing European football COYW.
One of the noticeable things this season has been how we have been able to continually change the defence and midfield yet get consistent results.
In his Open Goal interview GA said the big difference between our league and English League One was having time to work with the players rather than constant midweek games and we do look a very well coached and fit team at the moment.
He also said he was living in Glasgow with his family which I think makes a big difference. We've seen McGhee, Robinson and McCall all completely lose the plot and I suspect that the pressures of being based outside Scotland contributed.
We controlled the full game. Livi never got a sniff of our goal until they scored.
We created more than enough great chances and could have had a couple more.
A good win which we deserved but it was far harder than it needed to be. I'll go against the grain here and say we missed Watt's general skill up front. That said Van Veen did very well. Not our best performance by a long way but we did the job to end 2021 on a high. .
Big Kev dishing out some Boxing Day humble pie to a few people. What a performance.
It was disappointing not to get the clean sheet but we are in a very strong position going into the break.
I’m surprised/disappointed that it’s been done now. I thought end of season to consider any offers he got. Perhaps this one is really good for him and that’s fine but from motherwell perspective to sell your “best” player to a close rival during the season does not make sense. If this had been him going to a team out with Scotland it would be a different story.
What a fecking disgrace,500 fans in an outdoor stadium, yeah there is a pandemic, but you don't see it in real life, thank feck flu miraculously disappeared last year
Take his goals away and see what position we would be in. Take that number of places and multiply by 80k. Then double to cover the remainder of the season. If Utd don’t want to pay that then he stays. Whether he plays or not the remainder of the season is up to him and the manager.
I'm in the camp where if Dundee Utd won't pay us £200k or more to take Watt now, he stays and sits in the stand watching Motherwell until the end off the season.
Well said, take your eyes off the tv,live your life and ask yourself where is the pandemic without the tv pandemic for the measures taken in last 2yrs ridiculous,
If say watt is on 2k a week roughly 20wks till end may is 40k. I'm sure we could write that off and not play him and make him train with youths away from 1st team. This could force utd hand into paying money for him the now so as not to get a player who's not played for 6 months when he goes. Yes hes been gd for us and this may sound selfish but as I've said previously utd are big rivals for a top 6 spot and Europe so it would put them in a position. Theres no way a player who's signing a contract to go and play for someone else in 6 months is fully switched on for his present team. We need to call his bluff.
If his attitude is right and his performances are good he is in the team, if not he is in the stand. We can get used to playing without our top scorer next summer.
