  1. I've stated elsewhere that this squad plus Tony Watt and Kayne Woolery showed itself capable of winning games in the SPL last season (I know O'Hara, Donnelly and Grimshaw were also here but they weren't exactly crucial). It shows the difference just two or three of the right types of player makes. Personally I reckon an organiser at the back or in midfield and some direct pace up top so teams don't feel they can defend as high against us, those two would improve us hugely. But the next manager's biggest task is getting guys playing to their best. Take Mugabi. He was never Beckenbauer but last season looked solid for the most part with the occasional howler thrown in. In other words, an average SPL defender. Yesterday he, along with most of the team, looked terrified. Not an ideal mindset for playing football. Talk of 6 or 7 new signings is fanciful. New manager, whoever he is, needs to identify 2 or 3 to address problem areas, yes. But also has to remind the guys that are here how they can play...

  2. In agreement on the recruitment team. We had Nick Daws talking up the advantages of the scouting network thing we joined, and how we can use the work permit rules to our advantage to bring in good players from mon traditional markets, and that has brought us Sol, Ojala, and Efford. Not sure how much he would have been involved in mcginn and spittall, and I assume Morris was an Alexander production. Either way, I'm not enthused by the prospect of him bringing the signings we need in the next couple of weeks. Slattery looks to be a decent signing, and Tierney certainly has promise. I can see the logic behind woolery and shields, but for two fast and strong players they/GA found ways to nullify their strengths. Maybe they take instruction from the manager, which in this case seems to have been "sign shite players that I can make worse."

  3. No matter who we employ- especially if we were to go with Hammell - I think the fans will have to be very patient while things get sorted. Defence is shot to hell confidence wise but I believe that can be fixed between the end of this window and the January one. Midfield likewise but I think there are players there who can work if they are played correctly to their strengths and get the backing of the crowd. Forward line is more difficult, KVV has talent but without space is limited so I see him better played against teams who don’t pack the defence or when we’re ahead and they have to come out. Shields put in some decent crosses and I feel he would prefer to have ball put in front of him to chase rather than snatch at crosses as he’s not quite sharp enough yet and hasn’t had any luck in front of the goals - strikers go through these phases and I hope he gets a lucky break soon. Efford is a strange one, will give his all but again it never seems to come off for him - reminds me a bit of Curtis Main. Looking like a long hard season

  4. The strange thing for me is that it was so blatantly obvious what we needed for this season . A left back ,a dominant centre half ,a defensive anchor , winger or wingers and a centre forward who plays in the box . . That’s five /six players in my reckoning that would need to come in and hit the ground running . As painful as it was to watch yesterday Hammy must have learned so much during that 90 mins . it was glaringly obvious . 1.Mugabi can’t be trusted , could have been sent off Again in his first tackle . 2.McGuire is never a defensive midfielder and his passing is shocking . Gogic or someone of that nature required to play that role . 3.Left back needed ASAP . Obviously 4. Centre forward that will play centre forward . Not left or right or chasing back to middle of park . 5: Minimum of one winger but preferably two who can create chances and get us up the park . I’m sure Hammy if he gets the job must/does know what is needed and the budget will dictate but not bringing in the players we need will cost us a lot more as relegation is a real threat this season with the current squad . Massive decisions for the board this week as it could determine or league status going forward . Think we’re at a watershed moment for our club and hopefully the board recognise the seriousness and act bravely

  5. I have watched 4 games now. Two against Sligo Rovers who got humped 5-1, this week by a non descript Norwegian outfit. Then St Mirren who should have won had they taken their chances and St Johnstone who won 2-1 and scored all three goals. So in 360 minutes of football against piss poor opposition we have scored one goal and that was a penalty. How anybody can think that we are heading for anything else but a relegation battle is beyond me. Fucking Pep Guardiola couldn't do anything with the shite that is masquerading as professional football players at Fir Park. Honestly, only two players have contributed positively in the past 8 months Kelly and Van Veen. The rest are incompetent at best. If any candidates were in the stand watching that horse shit today they have probably phoned up Burrows and with drawn their interest. Burrows and the rest of the amateur hour comedians who have consistently picked duff managers are the ones to blame for this clusterfuck.

  6. Of course they can. I thought we were very poor yesterday but we still hit the post and should have had at least one penalty. I don't think we can have any complaints about losing but on another day we could have won 3-1. There are very small margins and as bad as we are most of the rest aren't miles ahead. Just cutting out basic defensive errors could transform things.

  7. TBF it took just one player leaving to totally derail us last season. If we can get some quality in then I'm sure it'll make a big difference, but that's a big if of course.

  8. I would have Hammell in front of many of the merry go round managers . Someone who cares deeply and well educated on the club and coaching . Alex Neil had ways less experience when he took the reigns at Hamilton and now we can only dream of landing such an appointment . He may lack first team experience but everything he’s been calling out as issues resonates . He needs some budget to move get some of the journeymen out our club and bring in some decent talent - which may need to be premiership loanee types

  10. We need to stop whining about teams time wasting. We would do the same and have done the same. The only way to deal with it is to not put yourself in that position.

  11. Hope he's not like Vigurs biggest wage thief i've seen at Fir Park, think we need to give him some time but had expected more from him considering how many first team games he's played

  12. We'll agree to disagree on Cornelius and Maguire. I actually think Maguire is the better player (granted he should be further ahead in his development than Cornelius due to age) but like a couple of players in the team, his confidence looks totally shot to pieces. Cornelius, I think, is still a player with potential but don't know how he'll develop...

  13. This current squad plus Tony Watt and Kayne Woolery showed itself capable of winning games in the SPL last season. It shows that the right couple of players makes a huge difference. As does confidence. Team looked terrified yesterday. We need 2 or 3 signings but they, along with the new manager, need to be able to lift the place. For long spells last season, Mugabi looked solid with the occasional error. Yesterday he looked aghast any time the ball came near him. As much as new signings, it's about getting guys already here playing to near their optimum. Someone I know says that 8 average guys and 3 good players gets you top six, 8 average guys and 3 shiters gets you relegated. I reckon we have at least 8 average guys. The next couple of signings, we have to get right...

  14. Some have alluded to a personal relationship with a staff member whilst in his previous post. I have no information in that regard one way or another.
