I'm sorry but the coaching staff need looked at as well here. If players are making the same mistakes week in, week out why is the eleven the same every week? Cornelius is there if you think the midfield is the problem. Allows you to move Spittal up top if you think the wingers are an issue... Manager needs to take a long hard look at himself...5 points

Appreciate I'm in the pro Hammy camp. I don't believe we're far of being pretty decent team. We've lost marginally to several teams with much bigger budgets than ours. When we see players making basics mistakes , that's not for me about training and tactics, it's because Hearts and other clubs pay 2-3x our salary and have better players. Today could have gone either way, basics mistakes are costing us and have been for the best part of the year. We need to improve the quality of defence but overall I suspect we're good enough to be anywhere in the league from 10th -6th. Problem being, that's the same for several clubs. Losing games suck, bad runs suck. Getting some reinforcements in Jan may help. Equally I'm quite enthused about the prospect of VV, Moult, McKinstry as a front 3. That could be pretty exciting.3 points

My thought exactly - never will there every be a bigger wage thief than him.3 points

A tad harsh and perhaps impetuous Greg, but yes you do have a point, and a valid one at that. At what stage, or date, do fans stop blaming Alexander for absolutely everything, including today's tactics, and accept that Hammy is maybe at least 1% responsible? We're making the same mistakes and have the same weaknesses game after game. The fact that he is a very popular former player shouldn't cloud folks' judgement. I've stopped listening to his post match interviews as they're tedious and all the same. As for today, why did we sit back at 2-2 and let Hearts come at us? Losing 3 goals to a ten man team just isn't acceptable and serious questions need to be asked. The squad does have serious weaknesses especially in central defence, centre midfield and up front. However its the lack of leadership and character that worries many. Something is not right. Having said that, we do have some decent players who just aren't performing and who have gone backwards - Kelly, Slattery and VV for example. I'm not saying its all Hammy's fault but..... We are stretched for bodies but we do have alternatives in midfield and I'm not sure he's getting the best out of what we have. The personnel and formation with a lone striker just doesn't seem right and it isn't working.2 points

Just back from Tynecastle and to be honest when you’re in the ground it’s hard to tell if he got the big decisions right or wrong, but if he decides Gordon brought Moult down (and he clearly did) then he should yellow card him as a matter of routine. We all know the reasons he didn’t is because they were already down to 10 and that it was Craig Gordon the Scotland goalkeeper, disgraceful.2 points

now now this will never catch on remember he had a career threatening back injury ???? heart n kidney problems heart feckin lazy n kidney b feckin bothered but at least his injury cleared up since hes still picking up wages at cove anyway enough about that shite and more about how devoid of any sort of leadership / talent we have at our club just now2 points

I honestly think this is the worst set of tacklers I have ever seen in a Well shirt. We are void of a natural leader. Folk moan about the defence week in week out but when the midfield do not track back do not stick a foot in it's always going to be open season.2 points

It’s just so infuriatingly predictable I’m afraid. It might be boring to read but the pattern is there for all to see. We lose the first goal = we lose the game. That has been the case in every single match we have played this season where we have conceded first. We make sloppy passes, we miss chances, we give away cheap goals, we look less hungry than the opposition. All of that has been evident from us this season. I said during the game when it was 2-1 and we were in the middle of our best spell of the game that I thought Hearts would run up the park and make it 3-1 and kill it off. I was wrong about that, but there was still the predictability over them winning it 3-2 once we’d managed to get it back to 2-2. Once the team starts looking as though they are learning from their mistakes and shows that they are capable of not losing a game where we lose the first goal then I’ll stop boring you and everyone else on this forum and the admins/mods can quote me on that.2 points

I agree with u ..anywhere else on the park it's a foul and a yellow..the ref simply bottled it..1 point

Every year with the "we'll finish in the bottom two" chat. Every year. In October we lost to Aberdeen, Hibs, Rangers & Celtic, three of which by one goal. We also put 5 past Ross County and beat Dundee Utd away from home. We also have a very favourable run of fixtures after the World Cup. Fresh knickers are required.1 point

My maw has more baws than some of this team, boom boom! now now grizzly will be after you if your stealing his shite patter1 point

Sorry, I think at the minute we will be in or around bottom 2 , too weak , to lose 3 goals v 10 men is championship form1 point

Would that be the same Blair Spittal who got the equaliser today and has scored another couple of goals this season so far? Given how paper thin our squad is he probably is the best we have available, but for interest who would you replace him with?1 point

Hammell should have been badgering the 4th official during the VAR review demanding a second yellow for Gordon to the extent that he got sent off if Gordon didn’t. That would have put the referee in a position.1 point

Losing three goals to 10 men is poor what ever way you look at it. We need a proper defensive midfield player who's mobile. Gordon should have been off, and hearts down to 9 men. Massive advantage.. For all of the var hype, it is only highlighting how bloody awful our officials are. If the officials on the pitch don't know the rules, var officials should be correcting decisions like Gordon's lack of 2nd yellow. That decision was a game changer. Every game fans who did not want var, expect var to check for errors are now baffled by inconsistent or lack of checks. Now we have double feck ups by the officials. Scottish football is a joke and going nowhere.1 point

We need good players, I don't care whether they're shouty or not. The scary part is that the 11 that started are probably the best we have available (given moult can't play a whole game). Not having viable options coming of the bench is killing us. We did pull it back from 2-0 down, so I'm not buying the whole "character" thing. We were pressing them up to the final whistle and they were hanging on, so we hardly chucked it. The problem is that we have too many spots occupied by lower division standard players.1 point

Results like today and when Ross County beat us after they went down to 10 men tell us about the character of the team. We don't have any. No-one stands up and leads by example . We desperately need a Peter Hartley type figure on the pitch as there are no leaders in our squad never mind the first 11.1 point

Lots of focus on terrible refereeing and VAR, but those issues are known and secondary to us just being utterly shite.1 point

Penny and McGinn are by a distance our best defenders. We need reinforcements in the middle.1 point

Lamie, Penney and mcginn all been better in my opinion. Big Sol not sole reason we lost today, losing 3 goals against 10 men an embarrassment plus fact Gordon not receiving a 2nd yellow1 point

I knew we would still lose even when we got it back to 2-2, absolutely knew it.1 point

No complaints about losing that. If you can’t defend, can’t even do the basics like keep possession or track runs against a side with ten men then you don’t deserve anything. We look a very poorly coached side, which is alarming.1 point

Solholm is a bit unlucky, Where are his arms supposed to go. It's the shitebags who let the hearts players stroll forward 40 yards unchallenged we should be focusing on.1 point

The most apt description I've read of Shields so far. McHugh 91 appearances, 8 goals = 1 goal every 11 games Shields 44 appearances, 3 goals = 1 goal every 15 games1 point

I would suggest that writing “You’ve had it explained to you further up the page” is incredibly patronising, particularly when zero tangible evidence is presented to support that explanation. Perhaps if it was coming from an actual manager or agent then maybe not. Just because someone asserts an opinion on a forum, it doesn’t make it fact. It’s just opinions, and they’re all valid in the context of a football forum inhabited by mouth-breathing morons.1 point

Don't think we were/are anywhere near as bad as people making us out to be. We weren't particularly good today, but it wasn't quite the bombscare I'm reading. We were far FAR better with Moult and KVV through the middle with McKinstry drifting about in behind them, I'd like to see us continue with that. I'd also like to see us not let an opposition player run 30/40/50 yards with the ball resulting in a goal for the other team. I had initially said we would make the top six this season, but unless we can beat teams like Aberdeen/Hibs/Hearts once in a while it's unfortunately going to be beyond us. Not a chance we'll be in a relegation fight but unfortunately I can't see a top six finish any more. Really pleased to see Moult coming on after the chat of him seeing specialists/he might be done. He looks rusty as fuck but the movement/threat is there. Hopefully he can use the world cup to build up his fitness and we can get something from him for the rest of the season.0 points
