  1. Some crazy options here. You can't fire a manager every time you hit a bad spell. For a start if you start doing that you'll never attract any decent quality managers because no one will want to join a club were you are 6 or 7 games away from the sack. You review the situation at the winter break and if it's look bad then.....maybe.......but it'd have to be bad, right now we are a point off being top 6.

  3. Kettlewell is still in charge, let's bin this talk for now. Let's see how next 2 games pan out. He has dropped players not performing today. Defence more solid as lost 7 previous 2 games Let's focus on Tuesday and hopefully a huge win

  7. It’s a shambles of a situation, both on the count on us having to play any top flight game on a plastic pitch and on the count that we are relying on an injury prone loanee to be our goal threat but because of the ridiculous pitch we can’t risk playing him.

  8. Thought it was quite a bold team selection from SK today. Wasnt really sure what it was going to look like, but he did what a lot of fans were asking for by dropping SOD, Slattery and Bair. It was clear from the outset that he picked a team to combat the pitch and try and keep us competitive in the match. For the most part it worked. We looked more solid in defence and didnt cough up any easy chances in the first half. We made Kilmarnock work for them and they didnt have a shot at goal for the first 30 mins. Not going to say I was pleased at the style of our football or that we created a raft of chances, but today for me was about playing the circumstances, so I wasnt that unhappy at half time. That all changed with the goal. We got a warning just minutes before when we failed to defend a cross into the box and the Killie player headed straight at Kelly. We didnt heed that warning and again got caught in the transition with Kelly spilling a very easy take and none of our defenders making any response to allow Cameron an easy finish. After that it became very much more open as we yet again chased the game. It was clear the players were under instruction to play it long, so it was somewhat ironic that our best play and chances actually came when we got the ball down and played football. Over the piece Killie deserved to win. But it was another game of fine margins where poor decisions from the manager and players have contributed our own downfall. Thats now 7 without a win. We are still in the pack and a couple of positive results would take the pressure off. But every game that passes without that win will just keep heaping on the pressure. Tuesday night now becomes huge.

  9. I don't really understand what you are talking about here. The last two times we changed manager almost everyone agreed both interim managers had earned the job. Prior to that we brought in Alexander who is known for falling out with people and had a decent record. Our transfer policy did change under Alexander and it wasn't spectacular but it got us the required results then he went off the boil and was looking for an exit. That's fitba. Being Motherwell manager isn't complicated and it's not about making demands of the board. There's a budget for players, the manager needs to try and dig out a few gems, everyone accepts form will fluctuate but if you hit serious relegation form then it's out the door. If Kettlewell had just signed a few competent players on permanent deals to go into the starting 11 this summer he wouldn't be in this position. I don't think it's overly ambitious to hope for a manager who understands that starting SOD and Bair every week will get you into relegation trouble.

  11. We should pay Kettlewell off, appoint our 4th manager in the last 18 months, finish 8th or 9th in the league with no cup runs and then repeat the process again next season.

  12. Took my son to 3 games this season. 3 x 1 nil defeats and 270 mins without even seeing a well goal. Worst performance today in years. Gifted possession ti Kilmarnock just outside box. Only poor finishing and poor ceossing prevented them scoring more. High balls up in direction of strikers appeared to be our plan. Most of time not passing to a well player. Really bad recruitment in Bair and Wilkinson. Bair lacks skill and is not a goalscorer. Wilkinson has no mobility. Turns like an hgv lorry. Need changes soon. Hope we can offload in January. Even my sons tram played better and hes 11. Kilmarnock full of hatchet men too and didnt give mwell an inch. We had no response to it.

  13. Few weeks ago Gers booed team off park and sellik sneaked a victory. We were so close to getting a result. I am with you, we can't keep changing managers minute we hit bad run. But it is a worrying time but I am hoping for Win v St J....COYW

  29. Another opening 45 minutes without a shot on target. At some point it'll have to be acknowledged that the manager doesn't have a clue what he's doing.

  34. Here we go again. Theres no way SK gets emptied unless we are adrift by Xmas. That is possible. But by no means certain. He has, under the instruction of the current Chairman/CEO had to strip the budget right back to a manageable and sustainable level, whilst at the same tome trying to keep a competitive side on the pitch. Initial signs and performances were very good and we got a decent points haul before some injuries and suspensions hurt us big time. What I do think is fair comment is some of the signings were undoubted risks. Offering Obika a new deal was dubious given his injury record. But he has far more ability than Mandron whom he cut lose. The problem for me is he then goes and signs Bair on a 2 year deal. Whilst Ive defended Bair on here, that still felt a bit mad. No doubt Theo will be on way less money than Mandron, but 12 months would have been plenty. Pape Souare also seemed like a proper gamble, but at least that was only a 6 month deal, so you could kinda live with that. Wilkinson for me is the biggest disappointment though. I know he has been injured as well, and is clearly not fully match fit, but I still havent seen anything form him to suggest he is gonna be any good at our level. His body language also isnt the best. Maybe he can do a KVV and make me eat my words? Heres hoping! I still think we have enough in the squad to turn this around. But SK needs to be ruthless and start playing players he can trust and play them in their best positions. A fit Butcher needs to replace Mugabi, who was fine as a stop gap but nothing more. Spencer simply has to start at RB. That leaves us with an issue at left back as Souare is crocked. Gent looks suspect defensively and SoD is a RWB. Could Blaney play there? The other question is should it be 5 at the back or 4? Up front, Id be playing Biereth on his own as he is the only one with the pace and power to manage the job and still have the ability to score goals. (But I wouldnt be risking him today). We have shown already that in the right set up, the midfield have enough about them to create chances for the right striker. It is a big few weeks for SK, no doubt. Turn it around and all this chat will become white noise. We start going 8,9,10 without a win and getting sucked to the bottom of the table and the board may start getting twitchy.

  38. Just watched highlights. Jeez should be 9pm watershed, absolutely embarrassing. Goal 1. Casey poor header and McGinn slow to react. Goal 2. Spencer out for a Sunday stroll rather than tracking man. Goal 3. Young Lennon doesn't track McGrath. Miovski got freedom of the pitch. Goal 4. No comment......shambles from McGinn butcher and Kelly Liked Kettlewells interview, wasn't trying to sugar coat anything so let's hope for a reaction on Saturday.....COYW

  39. Kelly had a poor game. Perhaps he should be dropped, that said most of yesterdays starting 11 could/should be dropped. At their best our players work hard , have great shape and win majority of 2nd balls, with Mika up front we have a glimmer of something exciting. At worst we perform as we have in last couple of games. Kelly, S'OD, Mugabi, Miller, Spittal, Slattery, Wilkinson could easily be dropped but we're fairly limited with who would replace them. I'd personally drop several akin to how wee Tommy approached poor performances back in the day. For Saturday I'd start Butcher, McGinn , Casey, Paton. Mika coming on for part of the 2nd half. Other than that it's all up for debate.

  40. I'd like to say I was surprised that some fans are looking for SK to be sacked after we finally hit our bad spell. But I'm not, because fans are idiots. Every - and I mean every - team hits bad spells. This is our first one under SK. Of course he needs to fix it, but looking for blood at this stage is ridiculous. Nothing to do with being happy clappy. Everything to do with having watched teams in multiple leagues across multiple decades.

  42. I'm not a big fan of O'Donnell, as most will know, but some of his better performances as I seem to remember have actually been when he played at left back. Maybe you are just reversing the same problem but I always think if you are going to play one of two out of position you might as well put the better one in the correct role to maximise their effectiveness.
