  1. Why not just enjoy our first league win against Rangers in over twenty years? That’s three posts you’ve made since FT and every one about me. Come on man, there’s more important things to talk about tonight surely?

  3. Fantastic result. Just wanted to point out that Lennon Miller has played in 6 out of our 7 wins despite being out for a long spell. Coincidence? Don't think so.

  4. Correct, and were two of Rangers defeats not to Celtic ? (might be wrong but that's what I've got in my heed). I first started watching 'well in 72 ish and got my first ST in the 75/76 season (I think). First three games against the old firm were a 1-1 draw and 3-2 win against Celtic and a 3-1 win against Rangers. Would absolutely love to see these days come back but the way the game is geared now, i don't think we ever will. Every change tht's been made in my lifetime to make Scottish football more competitive has given bigger and bigger advantages to the Glasgow Uglies. I'd rather see them f*** off out of our leage and leave the rest of us to get on with a competitive league regardless of whatever level the world views us at.

  5. I’m sure they’ll both be as delighted as every other ‘Well fan is tonight. Incidentally this is the first time since these forums came into existence, firstly as welltrust.net and then steelmenonline that a league victory over Rangers has been discussed and celebrated. A big day all round!

  7. Absolutely! All these folk who say that beating one of the OF doesn’t matter and that’ it’s just another three points etc. Come on! Tell me that that doesn’t feel ten million times better than a win against Livi or Ross County!

  14. You get told as a kid you get hurt pulling out tackles. McAusland hung a leg in with studs up and turned his head away. Completely his own fault.

  16. Was a fine tackle. Clearly won the ball, strong challenge under control. You can’t stop dead after you tackle. Sometimes you get hurt and it’s not a foul.

  17. I really hope this is the beginning of a downward spiral for Clement. Virtually no credit given to the away team for a fantastic performance away from home and lambasting Casey for the tackle on Mcausland. Sour grapes.

  36. Football really is the craziest game to support. This time last week many of us would be in the depths of despair having fucked up against Celtic .. again and the thought of our season collapsing against Livingston and a likely hammering against Rangers. I did say before the Livi game that it would be a season defining game but little did I think we'd all be feeling like this exactly one week after that Celtic game. Football supporting is a bloody rollercoaster.

  43. It's re-refereeing games. That's the problem. It should only be used to double-check goals, offsides, and cards. Eg. Hawkeye in Tennis. It doesn't re-umpire incidents and break down rallies. It only makes calls on line decisions.

  44. Exactly what I think , never going to happen of course I would be quite happy with a reduction in TV money and interest if the clubs were more the same level , and things were more competitive. The likes of Aberdeen , Hearts and Hibs would have more resources of course but as we have seen we are more than able to compete with them

  45. Exactly the arguement I've used before for getting shot of them. Pretty much every team in the league could start the season thinking they had a realistic shout of winning something. I'm sure there would be a reduction in TV money without them, but so what. Let the league find its own level on the world stage and give the fans something competitive to watch. The current set up is shite. Could yo imagine what the crowds would be like if we were playing say Hibs at Fir Park in a top of the table 6 pointer in March ?

  46. This is what I am hoping for. I don't want to lose the Society.

  47. The club directors now need to act quickly, and in tandem with the Society. The shareholders and Society members need to be told basic details of the bids, these 2 and any others, very quickly. I do understand that some details might be commercially sensitive. In the meantime, the Society needs to get cracking working up its proposal. To me, there's no point whatsoever in continuing with lengthy negotiations on the leaked bid (if they are accurate) only for the Society members to chuck them out en masse. We don't want to get to the point of having to vote on detailed proposals in September, August, July or even June, only for the membership to deem them totally unacceptable. What then? The Society will need time to work up its plan. To those Society members against any outside bid, I'd say don't worry. I'm confident that the vast majority of those who voted in favour would reject any ridiculous offers. The recent vote is only advisory and is no way at all binding.

  48. I would be keen to share with members of the Society the work we have been undertaking since the turn of the year in partnership with our members which has led to our new proposed operating structure. There are four Zoom sessions running this coming Sunday at 10am, midday, 2pm and 8pm. If you would like to join us please send me a DM with your email address. In case you missed it here's the communication sent to all members on Monday: Introducing our new operating structure Over the last six weeks we have been engaging members to understand what they want from The Well Society. They have told us what they value as members, what is working now and where we can improve in future. During these discussions five clear areas of focus have emerged. We will form five dedicated workstreams to support the development of these priorities. Each of these workstreams will be led by a board member. It has been clear across all of the focus sessions that there is a desire for members of The Well Society to make a greater contribution and offer more support. As a result, we are looking to align three Society members with relevant knowledge and skills to each of the workstreams. Our new focused workstreams are: Communications – led by Jason Henderson Will develop and deliver communications which give our members clarity around what we are delivering consistently across all channels Events – led by Amber Johnstone Will plan and execute a calendar of events that engages our members and enhances the visibility of the Society Fundraising – led by Derek Watson Will develop and implement fundraising initiatives that successfully drive income and cultivate our relationship with members Governance – led by Douglas Dickie Will establish and maintain robust governance frameworks, policies, and procedures that promote accountability and transparency Membership – led by Sean Baillie Will grow and engage our membership base through strategic initiatives, personalized experiences and value-added services, fostering a vibrant community We know that not everyone has been able to join us at Fir Park for the initial focus group sessions. So, we are organising four sessions via Zoom to gather views from Society members throughout the day on Sunday 3 March. During these sessions we will look to present the goals, objectives and deliverables across the workstreams and ask you to share your views and feedback as we continue to refine. The sessions will run at 10am, 12 midday, 2pm and 8pm – all times GMT.
