  2. I can again see both sides of the Kettlewell debate. Whilst we’re exceptionally poor at the moment, we’ve also been so unlucky with injuries this season, particularly to important players. To be missing the full spine of the team yesterday in Ox, Gordon, Miller and Stama, it’s little surprise we’re struggling to get results. On the flip side, and as many are saying, we’re so poor to watch and don’t really look like we have a plan for when we have the ball. Allied to that we keep trying things that have failed previously. If we can ever get McGinn, Gordon & Casey on the pitch together with Miller, Andrews, Maswanhise and Stama we have the makings of a decent team. Until that happens it’s going to be a tough watch and trying to grind out a result or two. I get the feeling Sat is massive for SK to keep the silent majority of the support onside, lose to a team that have won 4 games out of 22 and go out the cup I fear will see the majority turn on him.

  3. If true, that’s no great loss. Casey tries hard and often puts his body on the line, but those attributes are replaceable at this level, and let’s not forget that he didn’t want to be here in the first place.

  4. I know I won't be making that decision. However I am entitled to give my opinion and you know I always am honest. If it helps I was delighted seeing slattery back and scoring

  5. I think the fact that we are talking about this when sitting in 5th says a lot about how bad the football has been. Motherwell fans would usually be happy with their team sitting in this position. Why is it different this time? Probably because the football on show is brutal.

  6. I’m a season ticket holder and have been going to home and away games for 30-odd years, but you’d have to pay me to go to this game. Given the likely outcome, it’s just not worth my time or the expense. I can’t be arsed watching Kettlewell’s crap project likely do nothing other than surrender possession and try not to lose to the worst team in the league. That said, I can only hope I am wrong to give this one a miss, but that’s what happens when fans become disillusioned with having to tolerate a crap manager.

  8. Main Stand seats now fully sold out. Presumably ticket sales now suspended until/if St Johnstone decide to open North Stand sometime tomorrow.

  10. First and foremost football managers need to win games. If they dont do that they will be out of a job as the same fans complaining about lack of entertainment will be the ones demanding their head. That said, the football has been generally brutal this season and save for the odd game when things have clicked into place, there hasnt been much entertainment on offer. Id like to think there is a happy medium to be had where there is sufficient entertainment to be had whilst also picking up the necessary points. Lets not forget that this is the same squad that beat United 4-3 and drew 2-2 with Rangers. Both thoroughly entertaining games. It has been the exception to the rule though and it is something that does require to be addressed. A football club is nothing without its supporters to play in front of.

  11. There is some merit to this argument. I do feel that SK sees the same problems as the rest of us. Its just his solutions to those problems often seem quite mental. Same with his in game management. That said, I know you are a big advocate of going to a back 4, and under different circumstances I would agree. But the majority of our injuries this season have been to midfield players so dropping a defender to put in an extra midfielder would be next to impossible, paricularly as we dont have a decent defensive mid to sit in front of a 4. With Vale back, I do think 4-3-3 is a possibility, but with his red card, it definitely wont be on Saturday. In short. SK has had a really shit hand dealt to him this season. I think there ARE things he could have done to make life easier for himself, but we arent in possession of all the facts and information he has at his disposal, so he will continue to get the benefit of any doubt from me for the moment. If we get knocked out of the cup and get dragged into a relegation battle and he is still doing the same things, then my patience will be severely tested. Right now, I will continue to suffer like everyone else.

  12. I genuinely cannot believe we are still persevering with Stephen O'Donnell, people keep comparing him to Paul McGinn but one is consistent and the other an absolute abomination

  13. We will lose this and exit the Cup, absolutely nothing surer. Even a week away and it’s already got all the hallmarks of a rotten day. It’s such a shite draw in every aspect. Away to a Premier side, not great for travelling fans and with our stinking form and performances it’s hard to muster any enthusiasm.

  14. no denying our league position overall is strong for this point of the season , whether we maintain is for me less obvious . some of the injuries I feel we could have avoided or foreseen . Nicholson , Callaghan , Paton , McGinn all predicable and Slattery was known. I feel we are delicately balanced . A few wins and yes we may stay top 4-6 equally we’re only 6 points ahead of 10th position . Our gap against many has reduced - hibs are a perfect example . i would expect hibs to pass us before long, hearts may also . suspect we’ll fight out out with likes of Dundee, StMirren and Killie for 6-9th . Overall our depth and quality is more akin to their level than chasing European football . id love to be wrong though .

  15. Before I say the following, I am in complete agreement that SK needs to change his tactics and move away from from the negative approach, however, our keeper had zero saves today, so other than us gifting Hibs 3 goals with some horrendous individual errors we handled them Pretty well. Therein lies the issue, if you have defenders prone to catastrophic individual Errors you can’t rely on a defensive approach to work. Based on our record it would appear that, for the most part, we need to score at least 2 goals to win any game so we really should be attacking minded. Our best midfield players are likely to put in good performances in an attacking formation. There have actually been a small number of games where we have created lots of chances and looked like a decent team so I don’t understand SK’s reluctance to give it a go. St Johnstone, cup game, we should be attacking them right from the start.

  16. I feared the worst when I saw the starting line up, so I'll take a 3-1 loss. However its very disappointing to lose McGinn to injury and Vale to a debatable red card. Why can't we just lose? No reason to panic but if the next 2 Saturdays bring poor results then the pressure will mount on SK.

  17. The fact that some will be surprised at that is baffling.
