  1. By my maths, it's 20 without those three but I'm including Dylan Wells and Luca Ross in that. To have a squad of 20 and still feel short in so many positions (full back, midfield, up front) is a concern. Too many defenders that probably won't be first picks (Balmer, Koutroumbis, one of O'Donnell or McGinn), and too many players in other areas that we almost don't count as options because they have contributed so little for various reasons (Nicholson, Stuperavic are the obvious ones). Basically my thoughts are that while 20 isn't a huge squad, it feels unbalanced and it still to me feels that there are too many players who may not contribute a lot over the season...

  3. The Usual list of failed managers that gets rolled out every time there is a vacancy. We bucked the trend a bit by bringing Wimmer in, more clubs should do the same.

  5. Time we had a striped home top really. We've had some nice striped away ones over the years.

  6. Danzaki, Efford and McGinley all had contracts which were terminated by SK. There may have been others but those are the three that spring to mind.

  8. Even beside Gordon, Casey has struggled. As I have said before, I can see the attributes Casey brings to the team. He is full of energy and great at disrupting things further up the field, and can be a wrecking machine in the oppositon box at set pieces. Defensively, he is often out of position, loses his man regularly, and puts us back under pressure with his poor passing - either passing to the opposition, or making the wrong choice of team mate. It's not like we haven't given our central defenders an opportunity to prove themselves over the past few seasons. They have just continuously failed to deliver. I'm sure it gets inside their head too, and they all might benefit from a fresh start at a new club as much as we'd benefit from a new central unit. I honestly can't think of any combination I see line up on a Saturday and think "that looks solid"

  9. I'm with Weeyin on this - we need to get our central defence and wing backs sorted out. I'd also like to add a midfield destroyer to protect and shield the defence.

  10. There's a boy sits down from me in the Hunter who gives O'Donnell pelters every game and last Wednesday was no different. You'd think O'Donnell had pumped his Mrs the abuse he dishes out. We should never be subjecting our own players to that kind of treatment regardless of their performance.

  11. I heard he was told to wait to be picked up outside the front door, but when the bus arrived he was caught half way down Fir Park street watching it drive past.

  12. I've been involved online with MFC since early 96, the mailing list, then the yahoo group, chat room and here. It may have been down to who was online at the time but debates were sensible for the most part since it was mostly real names and probably the lack of teenage presence etc. Holy shit that's almost 30 years. I approached the club in May 96 about setting up a website, had a meeting with John Swineburn with grand ideas of what we have now, only to be told that the internet was a fad, that no one would want access to the club's history (Keith and Graham's book) instant news updates etc could be gotten on teletext, every idea or suggestion of use was shot down into flames.
