The 3rd goal one of my all time well favourites. Baraclough played a blinder and check the very youthful assistant manager3 points

A great night in Motherwell's recent history A great 3 days in Motherwell's recent history The Marvin Johnson goal assisted by Cammy Bell at Fir Park must be the loudest cheer I have ever heard at Fir Park. It really felt like the closest thing to winning a cup that day . A poor poor season finished off in style2 points

I know it’s been said many times but I’ll say it again. Having an ‘outsider’ in charge like Baraclough who didn’t pander to Rangers and allow us to play the name rather than the team in front of us was a major reason why we won that playoff. His predecessor and opposite number in those games would have had us beaten before the team bus left Fir Park and the fact that it was McCall in their dugout made that all the more satisfying given the number of big games we had bottled under his watch.2 points

In a choice between Seddon or Thompson, Thompson should be 3rd on the list.2 points

How long have you been watching motherwell, we are the world champs at making easy look hard.1 point

The good thing is that we're unlikely to go with any of the names that have been touted. The record posted a list of dundee candidates, which included someone that a P&B poster threw out there for a laugh, so I'd ignore anything the papers say.1 point

Who cares if he's any good or fits what we're looking for, his postcode is nearby. If that's the attitude we take I'll be after a refund on my season ticket.1 point

His finest moment as our Chief. He genuinely fought our corner and stood our ground where many of his predecessors would have folded and given Rangers whatever allocation they wanted.1 point

410 games at a 50% win percentage. There's a bunch of championship seasons in there, but also taking hearts to 3rd a couple of times and winning a cup. Other championship managers have been touted on here, so I don't see why that should be a blocker. Put his exact experience and stats on a foreign manager, and we'd be hailing it as a great appointment. Any experienced manager is going to split opinion, because you don't go 10 years in management without ups and downs. Like I said, I don't want him because I've never really liked him, maybe that's because I don't like hearts. But the argument that he isn't good enough is silly. Most of us want an exciting manager from outside of Scotland because it's something new, and there's the chance we find a diamond in the rough. Bringing in someone with considerable experience makes that less likely, so it's boring.1 point

If another manager was available who had 3 years in the championship with Neilson's record, we'd be all over it, jeez, some people want Imrie. I don't really like Neilson, mainly because of how he comes across, but he's a good manager.1 point
-
Neilson had a decent record at Hearts both spells. Given he played at right back, he might even know how to organise a defence. Wouldn't be my first choice, but can't see him ending up at Fir Park anyway,1 point

Can't argue with that draw......though MJC already has us down to lose 3-0 to Stenny! 🤣🤣1 point

If we had to go for a Scottish manager he wouldnt be the worst choice. Has plenty of experience and should have enough about him to keep us up. But he is dour as hell and that is kind of reflected in his teams. A kind of McInnesy type appointment. Id much rather sign up for another mystery foreign coach who wants to play high press with intensity and lots of goal shoots! 😉1 point

They all need to leave the ones out of contract and players like Balmer and such need to be punted out on a season loan if we can. We need more pace and width this was a big issue last season you keep the same then you get the same results. We have enough retained it's time to add new not stick with the old.1 point

He was fine going forward but defensively very shaky, positional sense all over the place.1 point

I didn’t really get the dislike of Thompson. I thought he was doing a good job for us.1 point

As we dont really have to change due to colour clash that often why dont we do Home Strip - traditional with hoop Away Strip - Claret and Amber stripes 3rd Strip - All one colour.1 point

Maybe SK will swoop for our out of contract ones and solve our problem for us1 point

If the Board listened to the fans, we'd still be in the Championship after Tommy Wright was hired a couple of vacancies ago.1 point

No thanks. We need to rebuild that central defence with players that don't keep drifting out of position, don't keep losing their man and don't keep giving the ball away. Giving 100% is the bare minimum I expect from anyone in the squad.1 point

We can't keep both,at this rate there is going to be very little room for improving our god awful defence and it's unbelievable if we're actually trying to keep davor and paton on again, there two bang average players that will take up funds in an area that's almost as bad as our defence is.1 point

What a stange and underwhelming list. I've no problems with those being released. However, the "under discussion" list is lengthy and downright odd. I've no problem with discussing terms with Casey, but the others? If we're wanting to clear the decks and freshen the squad up? I get that the managerial situation complicates matters just now but the term "We remain in dialogue with all remaining players, whose personal circumstances are all different." Seems a bit odd. Does that mean option clauses could kick in?" No mention of Matty Connelly who I think is also out of contract and we have 3 signed keeprs already. Pleased that Olly Whyte and Mikey Booth have signed new deals, as they seem highly rated.1 point

Queen's Park and Spartans would be home games. Ideally we want Queens Park from pot 2. By far the worst team in that group. (We'll get Morton because we always do) Pot 3 I'd take anyone but ideally a trip to Inverness, Alloa, QOTS or Stenny Pot 4 Dumbarton or Spartans at home. Pot 5 Away to anyone but Clyde or EK, thanks. Brechin, Brora, Stranraer, Forfar, Bonnyrigg, Stirling - in that order.1 point

No superiority complex, nor cryptic style. Just a loathing of some who think their £5 monthly sub correlates with knowing every decision or move the club makes.1 point

VAR ruining the matchday experience for longterm season ticket holders is likely a main reason.1 point

Me neither. But I guess its a way around getting the player to sign a 1 year deal if they are looking for more security. I wouldnt imagine for a minute the club or SK would have thought that SOD was likely to hit the 30 game mark or whatever it was, with all the options open to us at RB/RCB, but the number of injuries we picked up ultimately meant he had to play. I think we all agree that McGinn is the better player and more reliable performer of the 2, but his injury record raises more concerns for me at offering him a new deal after SODs was activated. In an ideal world Id keep McGinn and move SODs on. But thats not how it has played out.1 point

It’s worth remembering that football clubs, like any organisation, need to deal with sensitive matters in a professional way. There’s a difference between being open and overstepping the mark. Revealing why someone stepped down, how long it was known internally, or the status of an assistant manager before anything has been confirmed isn’t just unwise, it’s genuinely unprofessional. It risks damaging relationships and can make it harder to bring in the right people further down the line. Supporters have every right to expect honesty. But they also deserve a club that handles its business with care and integrity, even when not everything can be shared straight away.1 point

I’m fully on board the MVDG train purely to see him parking up his Lamborghini at Dalziel Park.1 point

In theory you need cover for every position and a bit of extra leeway so as a minimum a squad size of at least 22 should be the starting point. The main problem we have is whoever takes over from MW has not seen us play, formed their opinion of do we currently have the players to play whatever style of football they prefer etc so recruitment is difficult. That's why we need a new manager in ASAP, and I suspect it will be a rebuild over the summer and winter transfer windows to get anywhere near a settled team.1 point

Absolutely bricked it against big Cedric, he then cheated and got him sent off. Can’t stand him, poor mans Peter Grant!!1 point

Yeah, I'd agree with this, although I'll also contradict myself and say I liked the 'Jester', 'Ajax' and 'Sash' strips. My gripe is when they dont use the badge and use just the typeface. I love our club crest - A thing of beauty. Anyway, I'd love us to get something closer to the 86-87 strip:1 point

They still make mistakes they just take longer doing it. I'm fine with goal line technology, even automatic offsides but let the referee referee the match. Checking every goal for the slightest infringement in the same phase of play is virtually anti football in sentiment.1 point

The game was a better watch without VAR. Yes, referees made mistakes and we all had a good moan about it. But by Tuesday we had moved on and were looking to the next game. Now the whole situation rankles for weeks...maybe longer....because even with numerous looks at incidents our officials are still making horrendous errors and wilfully ignoring the Laws of the game. And those Officials are unaccountable...unless their error affects the OF....and many seem to revel in the limelight. Then there is the cost which will increase substantially if the upgrades suggested are implemented. And how are we going to upgrade the quality of Official and hold them accountable for ludicrous outcomes that determine match outcomes. Apologies are meaningless. For the sanity of the paying customer we should ditch VAR. We have been sold a pup which is destroying the game we all love.1 point

What you mention also annoys me but I am talking about obstruction. Eg ball played back to goalie. Forward moves to chase the keeper down. 15 yards from the ball opposing players steps right in front of forward to delay him getting to the ball. Read Law 12 obstruction section. It should be a foul. If no contact with player it’s indirect. If contact made its direct kick. The refs have apparently stopped calling it now. The usual response is a player can go where he likes on the field. The law covers that response and if the purpose is to obstruct an opposing player from getting to the ball when the defender is not within reasonable playing distance of the ball then they are not allowed to do that1 point
