  1. Of course not. But I was responding to the discussion about Rangers fans supporting (or not supporting) England, which seems to have upset you for some reason. That doesn't magically make me pro-Celtic, unless you follow the Old Firm method of sectarian logic.

  2. I dont disagree. But even if he does that, we still have the same issue when Longelo goes off injured. I guess we could put Halliday in there, or bring Balmer on and shift McGinn across. None of those options are ideal though. Not my intention to bash the manager as I think in general he has been fantastic for us. But there are one or two things that havent been quite right.

  4. Think that's a myth perpetuated by the celtic fans who like to see themselves as the best Scotland/ Ireland/ Palestinian supporters

  6. Apologies for tangent but if anyone watching West ham v Brentford the Brentford away strip would be a great away strip for us

  7. VAR’s scope needs to be significantly limited and restricted. “Clear and obvious errors” is what it was brought in to correct and that is what it needs to be restricted to if it’s going to work. If an attacking player is clearly in an offside position when a goal is scored or if there is an obvious foul on a goalkeeper or defender then apply it there. But this jobsworth examining every goal to see if the player who has put the cross in’s big toe was technically offside or if there was a foul in the build up 40 yards from goal more than a minute before the goal is scored is just absolute bunkum and is totally ruining football. As has been said several times, this not being able to properly celebrate and enjoy a goal because you’ve always got one eye on the big Screen/tannoy stating “Checking possible foul/offside” and then having to wait for potentially several minutes for confirmation either way is just ridiculous.

  8. I’ve never got the hatred towards Hampden. I love it and think there is a special feeling about going to play there. Perhaps that’s because when you’re playing there you’re usually in a Semi Final or a Final and that bit closer to tangible success or maybe because of the history of the place, from a Motherwell point of view it is the scene of the greatest day in the clubs history many in ‘Well fans lifetime, certainly mine. And the other argument against it is “it’s too hard to get to”. But is it? And if it is is it any harder to get to than any other major football stadium? Or indeed any harder to get to than any equivalent ground that could be used for a SF or Final? The only thing I don’t and never will get about Hampden is the insistence that Celtic and Rangers always get their ‘own’ end whenever they play there, no matter who it is. I get it when they play each other but when you’ve got Motherwell fans having to travel to the West end of the stadium just so that Celtic can get ‘their’ end and vice versa Kilmarnock fans having to travel to the East end so Rangers can get ‘their’ end then it’s a nonsense.

  9. Been reading the comments of course Pre 2012 I would have said more Rangers fans were interested in the national team and the Celtic fans were more interested in the Republic of Ireland , the ones I knew anyway I would say since 2012 with Rangers liquidation , plus the referendum there is plenty of them now who see the national side in the same light as the SNP , against everything they stand for , plus the hatred towards Steve Clarke, at the same time Celtic fans , the younger ones at least are more into Scotland now On the subject of Hampden Park and back towards the semi final chat which is what this was all about I must admit I still like Hampden. It is definitely not perfect in any way but still a good stadium for me

  11. Ordinarily that would be an option grizzly and it could well be but not for me this time,he's hardly kicked a ball this season,he will be far from match fit and isn't the most mobile at the best of times.i think we will most likely move O'Donnell over but whatever happens we will definitely miss the attacking threat that longelo offers if he is out for a period of time.

  12. Aye, I'm not sure how this myth has originated. Admittedly I don't know thousands of Rangers fans personally but of the dozen or so I know reasonably well, all are Scotland fans and almost half are in the Travel Club. Our granddaughter's partner has Scotland memorabilia plastered all over their house.

  13. As I said above, it comes down to poor game management from JBA. Koutroumbis should’ve been replaced by SOD at halftime, but instead, he waited until it was too late.

  14. I must have good blocking in place, because it opened fine for me (and I've never paid them). Usually pasting the URL into a private browser window does the trick. Anyway, here it is.

  15. Now that I've calmed down after yesterday , still greatly pissed off to have lost a game we really should have had won by half time. Defensively in the second half we were a shambles. I don't buy into the McGlynn tactical genius angle. He did what every team should try and do they stepped up their press. However we let them and sat off them. We let them hem us in at our own 18 yard box for much of the second half. Instead our midfield should have been exploiting the space in the midfield Dundee's press was creating but we didn't. Our final ball and decision making was very poor in the second half. Utterly woeful defending gave them the lift they needed and once they scored we panicked and I don't think any Motherwell fan couldn't see the winner coming for Dundee. Our self destruct button has been off the scale this season. However key influences were the loss of Longello Koutrombis looking like he'd never seen a football Hendry blowing out his arse after 50 mins Set pieces and crosses into the area absolutely pathetic, no pace on the ball and accuracy even worse. Said has all the attributes, except one, his final ball 9 times out of 10 is piss poor but he is still an asset. Substitutions changed nothing it was like for like, although SOD was an improvement on Koutrombis We are poor up front and that with a self destruct defence / keeper are killing us. With all that said we were unlucky that AP didn't score in the second half as bad as we were. Much is also being made about the fact we've only won one game out of 8 and its a fair point. However if we look at the league table no one from Hibs down to Livingston have won more than 2 games. Quite an incredible stat. Its little wonder a very average Hearts team look like potential League winners cos they can score goals. Very frustrating but for self destruction our play would merit us being where Hearts are. We need to start kicking on soon or we could get dragged down to a position our play doesn't merit and that would be a shame. By time the Liv gam comes Ill be back to normal but if we lose that the manager will sadly start to feel the heat. Anyway ramble over.....

  16. This is where I get really frustrated. 2 weeks ago we were close to getting a great result at Parkhead had it not been for a horrendous error. Fast forward 2 weeks and we have a bad 45 mins and suddenly we are relegation favourites, manager under pressure, etc etc. Yes that's not everyone's views but I just hate the meltdown every time we lose a game of football Keep the faith

  17. I get the frustration and disappointment but I hope everyone can have some patience and maintain positive support for the manager and the team. I’m pretty sure the vast majority were confident of getting a win yesterday which makes it even harder to take. We are playing a style which has yielded some of the best football seen at Fir park in years and we are only 8 games into the season. Yes, there are issues but let’s not start getting on the backs of the manager and the team so soon. I’d much rather support continuing our current style as we try to fix the issues. Some fair comments regarding our issues but that should not be transferring into booing or getting on the players backs at the game. I’m hoping Slattery will help make a difference when he comes back in and i think i agree with earlier comment about going with Walsh/Gordon pairing. I also hope that we are looking for a Longello back up and another striking option we can get in January or are we planning on Suele(?) being that?

  18. By all accounts the new pitch is much improved. Not grass but not the shocking surface of seasons past. Win or lose, it will not be down to the surface.

  19. Usually try to avoid posting immediately after games to give me time to clear my head. But yesterday was too much. in no way do I condone any of the irrational abuse aimed at some players which others have highlighted earlier in the thread. Maybe having to put up with some of that stuff is the price we have to pay for playing the attractive football that has seen a sizeable increase in the number of fans attending games? But I do think fans are justified in calling out our Manager after performances like the second half yesterday. He rightly has had plenty of praise for changing our approach and making football fun again. But he must also expect criticism after days like yesterday. It's not all down to the players. He has the power to alter things if needed. My view leading up to half time was that Katroumbis was done, having been injured when fouled and then seconds later further aggravating the injury with a block tackle. He battled through until the break but did not look like he had recovered. He was kept on regardless and really struggled in the second half. I consider that a managerial error. I mistake which Falkirk exploited time after time down that wing. I lost count of the number of times they got in behind and should have punished us. Team selection wise I had hoped to see Welsh return at CB, pairing up with Gordon. I am not Gordon's biggest fan but have to admit that he and Welsh have been great as a pairing. Welsh seems to have helped Gordon regain his confidence and composure. McGinn may be Club captain but for me he finds it challenging playing centrally given our new approach. Even panics at times. If he cannot make the team at right back then he should not be squeezed in out of position just because he wears the armband. I thought our central defending was poor yesterday and I believe Askou's team selection played a part. Up front I thought Hendry did ok, and was perhaps a bit more mobile than Ap Stam. But he was no better in the box. What was the reason for starting Hendry ahead of a striker who was excellent at Celtic Park and who at last looked to have found his goal scoring touch? Unless Ap Stam was carrying an injury being dropped will hardly have helped his confidence. Admittedly he did miss a chance when SOD put in one of the few decent balls into the box that we saw all game. On that front both Katroumbis and Langelo wasted too many opportunities. So! Frustrated but not bailing ship yet. I love our style of play and find it refreshing and enjoyable. I took along a couple of Falkirk fans to the game and they thought we were fantastic, more so first half of course. The drive back to Fife was a tough ask! Still relatively early days, but we need to start winning games we dominate and our Manager has a part to play in that. He also has to reflect on his own contribution when things do not work out. Evidence suggests it's not only the players that have things to learn.

  20. Correct right from the start of the 2nd half they were pressing higher up the pitch and in our faces quicker that said we should be coping with that as every team we play will do the same so we need to defend better. As I said in an earlier post its about getting the balance right, ie knowing when to play out from the back and when to take the long ball option and clear your lines.

  21. A win really would be so important and get the confidence back. We just need to tighten it up defensively and not overdo things up front and make sure final ball is better. I think Andy Robertson had been coaching them how to cross a ball during the week as it had been poor. SOD is the one player that was putting in decent crosses. Again it's not panic stations and give me this style of football ahead of tge garbage that was dished up by previous manager. I am sure JBA will adapt to changing it when needed. Heid Up Folks

  22. Halliday has played left back a good few times in his career, a possible option if Longelo ever injured
