On this topic , good to hear Derek Adam’s calling it out on the BBC . The standard of Scottish football just now is absolute garbage . I cannot remember the last time I was at an entertaining game with good football being played. There isn’t a single player in Scotland right now that gets you off your seat .. to think only a few years ago you could look forward to watching Gazza , Larsson , Laudraup , DiCanio to name but a few…and we had a team that could match up against them !! Now we have a league full of bang average teams , full of bang average players who struggle to pass the ball 2 yards to a team mate .. it’s demoralising to say the least .

Pish, how much money a club is willing to pay out in wages to players is no guarantee of their quality or ability, the whole English set up is a house of cards, all of them spending the sky billions and particularly in the lower leagues offering ridiculous wages to bang average at best players, they may be well paid but but they are not all that good at football. You can't blame the players for taking the money, that's why very few of them come to Scotland and we can't compete because the Scottish clubs with a few exceptions try to live within their means. I wonder how Morecambe's wage bill would compare to ours, and look how pish theve been.

I had a wobble after the Ross County game given the starting lineup and performance. That aside though, my support for Kettlewell largely remains. In my book, he still has a little credit in the bank for the remarkable turnaround after the Hammell disaster. The players are clearly behind him too, which is a telling factor. Of course though, he needs to get the monkey off his back with a win and ideally pick up minimum 4-6 points between now and 2nd Jan to keep himself in a job and readdress the balance of the squad during the window after a poor summer spend.

Money plays an enormous part though. Do English league 1 and 2 sides not receive around £4M in Sky money per annum ? Scottish clubs on the whole, don't see anything like that in prize money, unless you're finishing 1st or 2nd in the SPL. Generally, Scottish premier clubs are competing with L2 and just below for wages, so the lack of quality is not a surprise.

Exactly Allan. Because of media exposure, the English Premier League and perhaps their Championship too are seen, by many, as being of the "normal standard" against which to judge our and other leagues. For me our Premiership is "normal". Some years the standard is better than others. It is what it is.

Again based on what, if you make a statement saying the standard is poor in the SPL what league are you comparing it with? Every league in the world has shite games, unforced errors, bad referees, average players, boring turgid 0-0 draws etc etc, the SPL is no different but it is what it is. The SPL may not be populated by world class players but that's the same for the vast majority of leagues all over the world, so don't knock what we have here.

Off topic but just watched the Highlights of Dundee Utd v Raith Rovers on twitter feed from RR. What a winning goal that was. Great to see Gallagher face up his arse and Watt can't even get into their starting 11. Two if the biggest cunts in football.

Agreed he's a tosser but 100% correct on what he said, based on what? He was punted from a league 2 side in England because they were shite is he expecting people to believe that the standard there is better than the SPL. Every side in league 2 in England would be relegation fodder in the SPL, and probably a few in league 1 as well. It's only when you get to championship and premiership level in England that the standard is better. The SPL is what it is, and statements like "the standard is shocking" are irrelevant unless you are comparing like for like.

Agree if we find 1-2 decent attack minded midfielders + 1 improvement upfront we’d be a decent team (assuming everyone is fit) Also appreciate we may end up 10th or 11th this season but can’t see this run continuing and I can see other teams having their own shit fests

This is where Im at. A few weeks ago I thought it was looking very grim and that SKs head had gone. However, today we've gone away to the 4th best team in the country who have only lost once at home this season to Rangers, with a patchwork defence and kept a clean sheet. Given the goals we have conceded of late, those bemoaning our poor 4 man midfield might want to have a think about how that was achieved. Had we converted just 1 of the 4 gilt edged chances created in the second half, then we would be sitting with our first win since September. I get that its no wins in 14 now, but the manager did everything asked of him today. If he continues to do that and the players keep playing for him, then that win wont be far away. There is no doubt the squad still needs help in January. But its looking less desperate than it was.

I'm still of the same opinion. We should change now. Yes things have improved a bit and today wasn't a bad result. However we now need wins, not draws.
