Hardly seems like the most controversial thing for a Rangers player to say, to be honest. If he'd said he was there to help Celtic win 10-in-a-row, that might be a story.
Presumably the club have plenty of actual figures based on the number of times they've done this over the years, and have determined that they wouldn't...
Much as I'd like that to be the case (not that I want clubs to fold, I just want to see an end to ludicrous sums of money being thrown around), folk have been telling me this for a lot longer than they've been assuring me The Rangers are just about to go into administration again. And yet, they all keep rolling right along...
If it really was before his head was turned, then he probably really was expecting to re-sign at that point. The fact that he expected it to take another fortnight suggests some degree of negotiation was already in progress, though, which isn't usually a sign of someone who's desperate to stay.
And the reality is, we're likely to get closer to Rangers' valuation than ours. On paper, he's just a young lad with half a season of SPFL experience, comprising about half-a-dozen impressive performances, and a similar number of mediocre ones.
We've been mediocre and won nothing in pretty much every one of the 40-odd seasons I've witnessed. If that was all that mattered, I'd have given up long ago.
