  1. For the first few months, he was also one of the most infuriating players I 'd ever seen, falling over at every opportunity. If social media and this forum had been around then, he'd probably never have lasted the season.
  2. Reece McAlear off to Norwich: http://bit.ly/2yf8Mlm
  3. July 30th, available to pre-order online.
  4. I don't think anybody's really saying it's a bad move for him, just an unfortunate one for the club. As for whether he should've tried to make sure we didn't get screwed... easy for us to sit here and say that, but we don't know what other offers were or weren't coming in, and for all we know someone or something might have pissed him off just enough over the summer that he's not that bothered anyway. Even if he is, sentiment for your employer is usually best left out of it when you're thinking about moving on... they'll forget you a lot quicker than you'll forget them.
  5. If you’re going to keep using that word can you at least look up how to spell it?!
  6. I don't think anyone is concerned about whether the advertising has any noticeable effect (although, spoiler: companies wouldn't keep paying us or anyone else if it didn't), so much as whether particular sponsors fit the image our club likes to project.
  7. Unknown. He's back in Denmark dealing with a personal matter. So it might just be a few days, but without knowing what it is, it'll take as long as it takes, I guess.
  8. It's a lose in the same way I wouldn't want Fir Park to be called "The Paddy Power Stadium". I know I could ignore it and it would benefit us, but the thought of it makes my skin crawl.
  9. I suppose the "lose" might be the number of Paddy Power ads we have to put everywhere else to compensate...
  10. Home kits seem to be available now (in the online shop at least), don't think there's a date for away kits yet.
  11. Indeed we can't. Everyone I know here in Ireland who's worked for them has hated it and left, mind you, so I'm still not particularly delighted.
  12. George Best was quite a long way overseas when he played for San Jose Earthquakes...
  13. The club has a social media policy for its employees afaik, and I’m sure if he’s doing anything that’s considered in breach of that, somebody will have a wee chat with him.
  14. I owned a couple of Commodore Amigas with Motorola processors while they sponsored us... don't think they ever made those chips in East Kilbride, though.
  15. Well, not really. The original deal would have been subject to a medical, just like any other transfer. That said, we could still have caved to Celtic's reduced offer, and well done to the board for not doing so -- if they were still prepared to buy him, they presumably think the problem isn't career-threatening.
  16. Nobody disputes that, it just seems that for whatever reason right now, we're selling everyone at the same time, even hot prospects who've rarely or never played in the first team, when we don't have any particular financial need to do so. And while it would have been very easy to be excited about watching David Turnbull for a bit longer, it's much harder to be excited about starting the season with half a team of virtual unknowns.
  17. We have no idea, and likely never will until it happens. All we do know is Celtic don't usually do add-ons with other Scottish clubs, so if they've agreed one this time it's unlikely to be massive.
  18. And I guarantee you fans of other clubs will swear blind that we've cheated them, slagged them off, and acted like arseholes to them too. And they won't all be wrong.
  19. Nothing new really, what clubs say in public to please their fans and how they actually conduct their business are often two different things.
  20. Can't say I've ever considered a monstrosity myself... certainly somewhat of a monument to bad planning that perhaps should've been foreseen before they started, but it's these sorts of historical quirks that make old stadiums unique and interesting. When people talk about "soulless" new stadia, that's often what they really mean -- not that they don't have a great atmosphere on matchdays, just that if you removed the club branding, you'd be hard-pushed to tell some of them apart when they're empty. You only need to look at our main stand to know there's a story behind it.
  21. No club is going to pay more than they have to for anyone, so I’m not sure much has changed really. The only difference is that the figure has been publicised this time, but I’m sure any interested clubs would already have been made aware of it anyway.
  22. Other than leaving it empty again, another option might be to fill that bit with a lower stand, like they had to do with one end of the Aviva Stadium in Dublin for the same reason. Hardly seems worth it for the number of extra seats we'd get in there, though.
