Whatever genuine gripes we have with him, I honestly don't believe Thomson or any other referee in Scotland is going to show a card just because a player tells him to. That's way beyond incompetence and into corruption territory.

He should've stopped the first one, but that said, it was a sweet hit and some better goalies than him would probably still have let it slip through in those conditions. Yep.

I'm not saying he shouldn't be the one who goes, that's the nature of the job. But his assistant, the players, the physios, the board, the agents of players who've left us or priced prospective signings out of our reach, and probably countless others, have all played a part in where we are today.

Whatever our predicament, there's rarely just one person to blame.
