All voting systems are flawed, one way or another. How would you suggest they do it instead?

If it really was before his head was turned, then he probably really was expecting to re-sign at that point. The fact that he expected it to take another fortnight suggests some degree of negotiation was already in progress, though, which isn't usually a sign of someone who's desperate to stay.

And the reality is, we're likely to get closer to Rangers' valuation than ours. On paper, he's just a young lad with half a season of SPFL experience, comprising about half-a-dozen impressive performances, and a similar number of mediocre ones.

There is no chance Sevco are going under again, however much wishful thinking people continue to do about it.

Heard a rumour that his dad really doesn't want him to go there, so wonder if that's what's the hold-up has really been...

We've been mediocre and won nothing in pretty much every one of the 40-odd seasons I've witnessed. If that was all that mattered, I'd have given up long ago.

The trouble is, he's not a goal scorer at all these days. I can't say I'm one of the haters and he's certainly played his part in our recent run of form, but whenever a cross comes into the box he usually looks about as likely to get on the end of it as I am.

Well yes, players do tend to say things like that, if they've any sense. Then they can't really lose, whatever happens.

I'd kinda prefer just to let it go to be honest, at least until next year when it'll be 25 years. No doubt he was one of the best there's been and died long before his time, but ultimately he was only with us for 4 years (only one of which was particularly successful), had left us and moved on a fair while before he died, and 24 years plus a few days isn't an especially notable anniversary otherwise. We'd probably be having minutes applauses for players every other week if we applied most of those criteria to all of them

What makes you think it's a pretence? Some folk get upset, others don't. I can't remember the last time anything to do with football made me actually angry.

It clearly hasn't. We have 4 players in the current Scotland under-21 squad, more than any other team has. If we only hang onto three of those past the end of this season, that still seems like a pretty good return to me.

I was getting that, working now though. Looks like we're playing into a howling gale first half... bit of a nervy start so far.
