And I'm sure if we got even half the TV revenues that either German or Australian clubs do, we'd be more than happy to pay for the same.

Seems to be still doing the business at Perth Glory too, at the ripe old age of 34... http://www.footballaustralia.com.au/perthglory/players/Steven-McGarry/1884

As long as they catch up and deal with anyone who's needing caught up and dealt with for anything they did that day, I can't say I'm personally all that fussed what order they do it in.

John Reilly scored 12 goals in 56 appearances. Not exactly Higgy-esque statistics and he could be as frustrating as hell, but just occasionally he'd score a belter and he was by no means the worst striker we've ever had -- looking at the same era, his strike rate was pretty much identical to Stevie Cowan's (11 in 51) and Andy Walker's (17 in 77), in fact.

And never even started for the first team, making only 3 sub appearances. Hardly worthy of consideration here, surely.

He now does that kind of show on BT Sport with Danny Kelly instead, so it's a bit like Under The Moon used to be on Channel 4 too.

Most of it just comes with the territory for provincial clubs, I'd say. Most journos work in cities, so inevitably it's that bit easier them to focus on the clubs in those cities. It probably doesn't help that with one domestic exception, Motherwell haven't actually achieved much on the park in many of our lifetimes that anyone other than ourselves will still be talking about in another 20 or 30 years time. Whatever you think about them still banging on about it, Aberdeen and Dundee United really were among the best teams in Europe for a while when many of us were growing up in the 80s, so even now they're just going to get a bit more favourable attention on that basis.

Was wondering that myself. Folk all over Twitter this morning saying how we should be facing fines by now as our "pitch is a disgrace" and we're "always" having games called off, but I'm not sure we've had more than maybe one weather-related postponement in the past couple of years.

Indeed it's not. Trouble is, you're never going to know for sure unless you try.

It baffles me that anyone can think Sutton is anything other than a top quality SPL striker. He was prolific for us in his last spell here, as he's been at almost all his other clubs, and so far this season he has a 50% strike rate which most clubs only dream of. Too many people's judgement simply clouded by the fact he left us to go and play for Hearts for a bit, I fear.

I have no problems whatsoever with not being media darlings this year, we've got enough to worry about in such a transitional season without adding any sort of extra pressure to the mix. And to be honest, I have no problem with whatever teams are playing the most entertaining football being lauded for it anyway, even if they are overdoing it a bit at times.

Sounds like at least one other 'Well fan had already been arrested, too: "Officers had already arrested five supporters from both clubs, aged 16 to 21, and two suspects have appeared in court."
-
Heard him punching out a few in the second half according to the MFC TV commentary -- not my favourite way to see keepers dealing with crosses, but presumably he must have come for them.

It is, but as John Boyle and others have said over the years, you can't think of putting money into a football club as an investment at all. You're never going to get it back, you just have to hope that the number of good memories you have from the years you helped to keep the club solvent is worth it.

My recollection from reports from previous Trust meetings is that they already allow every method of payment that allows the funds to go straight to the club. With other instalment-based methods, the financial regulations are such that the money could only be transferred to the Trust upon payment of the final instalment, which is obviously yet another level of bureaucracy for the club to handle that they could do without while getting the thing off the ground at all. But now that it's up and running, I'm sure they're looking into it.

I doubt bringing one player back would make much of a difference, it's the entirety of what we lost that's the problem. But we could certainly use somebody like a Law or a Jennings in the midfield right now, or a Humphrey just for his pace.
-
Fair point and I did think the same myself. On the the other hand, I suppose I'd rather he was focused 100% on Friday night than sending us emails just at the moment.
-
Ross County fans certainly think there is, have heard more than one recently still gutted that he's gone especially as (according to them) we're not playing him to his strengths.
-
He had the players locked in the dressing room for about 45 minutes after the final whistle yesterday before appearing for the post-match. I doubt they were having a quiet cuppa.
-
For what? He owes us absolutely nothing. How many folk on here have never handed in their notice because they wanted to do something else instead?

Highlights now up on MFC TV. Quite the Willie Irvine-esque header from Sutton...

Although I don't consider it a sport myself, I'd think horse racing would be pretty high up the list--it was the 2nd biggest spectator sport in the UK a couple of years back.

Might be, but that doesn't explain the R that some folk still seem to think comes after the A...

Can everybody who still calls him "Ar-nee-ay" please watch the clips of his two goals to hear how to pronounce his name properly -- it's really not a difficult one as furrin names go
