  1. I'm sure we'd have a lovely day. (Somebody had to say it.)

  3. I can get to Bangor on the ferry in three hours from here. If it wasn't for the fact I only get back from my summer hols that morning I might have considered it :/
  4. That's pretty substantial for us, in the ballpark of what the board said was our expected loss for 2013/14. Would certainly be nice to have effectively wiped that out in one go.
  5. Good bit of business by the club I suspect. I was never really convinced Anier was going to set the heather alight with us, and McCall certainly hasn't let us down with bringing in goalscorers so far. So let's see who he's got up his sleeve this time.
  6. And do they get to announce it themselves?
  7. See, if folk would just read the website... http://www.motherwellfc.co.uk/2014/06/11/fulham-friendly-confirmed/
  8. It's too late for questions... the board already know, they've made it pretty clear for the past couple of years that our finances are on the slide, and when they told us the possible financial implications of booting out Rangers, some of which are arguably now coming to pass, we agreed to live with it on the basis that the alternative was unpalatable. It's all about coming up with answers now, and they're rather harder.
  9. It's a tough one. On the face of it £25 is steep, but cut that to even £20 and £8 for kids and you need to increase the gate by 25%. Would it really encourage an extra 1000 people to go along on top of the 4000 or so who probably will anyway? Past history suggests there'd certainly be no guarantee.
  10. From today's Scotsman: http://m.scotsman.com/sport/football/english/roberto-martinez-motherwell-shaped-me-as-manager-1-3429707
  11. Depends whether anyone wanted the promotion I suppose. Not everybody wants to be a manager, and for that matter not everyone who wants to be is much good at it... I've been working 21 years now and managed to avoid it so far, no' saying for which of those two reasons though

    Board Statement

'Flow said on Twitter this morning they're planning to do it on an international weekend later this year, couldn't do it any earlier due to remedial work on pitch to host Women's International in June.
  13. Either that or Brendan Rodgers has stubbed his toe or something.

    Board Statement

Hopefully somebody who's actually doing it can tell you for sure, but I believe you're paying up the one-off fee first and don't become a member (or get the benefits) until that's paid in full. Whether you can pay the annual fee in instalments after that, I dunno -- but it's kind of moot, as AFAIK you remain a member whether you pay the annual fee or not.

    Board Statement

I'm sure it's not just you. For some folk following a team is something to do now and again on a Saturday, for others it's a way of life. We all fall on different parts of that scale, and shouldn't have to justify that position to anyone.

Me too -- I took it to mean £100-200k, which would be the same order of magnitude as the two other recent losses.
  17. So, how long until he has a bad game and starts getting abuse because his brother went to Sevco...
  18. Some of the players will be on holiday this week as well of course -- Las for one certainly seems to be, and they'll probably want to wait until they're back to announce anything so they can do interviews for the club website etc. about how delighted they are to have re-signed....
  19. Yep, not the worst return to Fir Park he could have had by any stretch of the imagination, but you have to say probably it's the right decision. A bit better performance in the cups and we might have had enough in the kitty to keep him, but it's not like he adds a thousand to the crowd every week, and to be honest, it's hard to even pinpoint too many games where you can really say he gave us the extra spark or made the killer pass that turned a game, which is what we were all hoping for when he returned. (Which isn't to say he didn't make valuable contributions in other ways, he's just not really that kind of player any more.) Undoubtedly still an absolute pleasure to watch on his day, but all good things must come to an end.
  20. Which wasn't entirely his fault -- the guy he was supposed to be throwing it to (was it McManus? can't remember) turned his back on him as he threw it out, which isn't something a defender should ever be doing when his goalkeeper is about to dispatch the ball.
  21. Dunno what else there is to say that hasn't been said already... our game could attract bigger money but never seems to be all that interested in doing the things that would help, and the English game is spiralling out of control and will implode sooner or later, probably the first time England don't qualify for a World Cup because there aren't any English players left.
  22. One of my favourite memories from that era too. Full highlights available on YouTube Would've been tem times better if Aberdeen hadn't then gone and blown it the next week anyway, though.
  23. Would be a bit sorry to see Lawson go. I know he didn't really seem to fit into our system before his injury, but probably the most talented footballer of that bunch.
  24. To be fair, that's not exactly big news, unless Keith Lasley and Stevie Hammell have both decided to hang up their boots since last week...
