  1. Tell you what, our sixth goal was an absolute belter of a move when you watch it back.

    Sportscene

I can kind of excuse that on the basis that they obviously only have a few preset phrases that they can string together for the live text commentary by clicking a few buttons, and "scores direct from a corner" presumably so rarely happens that it just isn't on the list, so "just outside the box" is as accurate as they could manage. It's a poor system that can't be over-ridden for the occasional edge case, but such is life. I'd agree that Sportscene really isn't worth watching any more though... apart from being able to watch the goals on MFC TV before the BBC show them, the online BBC highlights are usually longer and better than Sportscene's anyway, and without the mediocre discussion afterwards.
  3. Murphy speaks about Blackpool:
  4. I'd say it's exactly the encouragement some fans might need, if we're apparently so strapped for cash that we have to take the first offer that comes in for one of our more valuable assets. If we had an extra £250k+ on tap via the Well Trust funding, we should less desperate to sell.
  5. My guess would be that there might be some legal requirements in play that require the manual form-filling, but I dunno.
  6. It's highly unlikely we'll ever find out exactly what was on the table, so let's just move on and hope that whatever Jamie's reasons for turning it down, it spurs him back to the sort of form that will attract some even better offers before his contract expires. (Or that wins him a contract extension, if that's what he wants...)
  7. From Soccerbase: Year: Apps (Goals) 2002/3: 23 (3) 2003/4: 42 (14) 2004/5: 41 (4) 2005/6: 33 (5) 2006/7: 34 (3) 2007/8: 42 (14) 2008/9: 38 (14) And since he left: 2009/10: 27 (4) 2010/11: 35 (7) 2011/12: 10 (1)
  8. "Motherwell ace Jamie Murphy a £250k deadline day target for Blackpool", according to today's Rancid. I'd take it if it got Henrik tied up for a couple of years...
  9. While I'd certainly get at least a rap on the knuckles if I'd said what he said in relation to one of my employer's decisions (even on my personal Twitter account, because my employer's social media guidelines cover that as well), is he really a "major player"? As the SFA Press Officer, I can't imagine he has any influence whatsoever on anything the SFA actually do.
  10. Here's the exchange in question... (and a screenshot in case it mysteriously disappears...)

    Ojamaa

Just having a wee swatch at Ojamaa's stats, I see he's already scored more goals for us than for any other club he's played for... also noticed that he was born two days after we won the cup in '91.
  13. Got tonight's lottery numbers there?
  14. Why, what did they do any differently to us? They just made their case at their hearing, just as we presumably did at Higgy's and the other ones we've lost.
  15. So who's going to tell 'Flow that his job at Fir Park is "admin lassie"?
  16. Given some of the other refereeing decisions we've seen recently, I wish I could be so sure...
  17. According to Mr Broadfoot on Twitter, if the referee saw it, it should have been a straight red card for using "offensive or insulting or abusive language and/or gestures", per the laws of the game...
  18. Did anyone *really* think this would be overturned? Seriously? I'd be surprised if Motherwell pursue it any further. McCall got pretty good media coverage of his thoughts on the matter, which was always something... if other managers get the same coverage when equally daft judgements are made against their players, things will surely change eventually. if I was him I'd just consider that a small victory in a ridiculous war and move on.

    Ojamaa

    From today's Express.

I'm similarly cautious, still have the feeling he might be one of those guys who, when he's playing badly, plays *really* badly. But he's obviously done enough to impress McCall in two trial spells, and he's looked the part in all the games he's played so far, which is already more than David Ferrere did despite his memorable debut
  21. Rooney's dad and uncle re-bailed yesterday until April. "Six further suspects are due to answer their bail this week", which I'd guess probably includes Jennings. http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/liverpool-news/local-news/2012/01/25/wayne-rooney-s-dad-and-uncle-rebailed-in-steve-jennings-alleged-betting-scam-probe-100252-30193443/
