We still have two months to get everyone to sign up to the Well Society
  2. From McCall's comments on the radio last night, albeit supposedly before having seen the TV footage or spoken to Craggs about it, he didn't sound too desperate to appeal, so I suspect he probably saw it happen and thinks there's no point.

Given Gordon Young's comments on Alba last night, it sounds like they're perhaps already expecting (or even hoping) that Murphy might be away in the summer, if not sooner. Henrik looks to be a ready-made replacement if that happens.
  4. Just watched highlights on BBC website (after watching whole game on Alba), and looked a lot to me like Barrowman said something to Craigan after they collided that provoked a response, rather than Craigan reacting to being hit in the face. We looked pretty lucky not to concede a penalty just before that, mind you... pretty blatant shove in the back from Hutch, guy didn't look like he was going anywhere but that doesn't mean it's not a penalty. For the offside, Ojamaa certainly looked a mile on and Higdon just off, but don't think it was necessarily that easy a call for the linesman... Higdon had arguably still taken his marker (and thus one of the last two defenders) out of the game even though he had pulled up by the time Ojamaa had collected the floated pass, so you could say he'd interfered. But aye, so much for the attacking team getting the benefit of the doubt in marginal offside calls.

Tempted to vote for Craigan as we seemed to play much better after he was sent off

Interesting tweet from @PressSport about him tonight as well: which presumably explains the short term deal.
  7. Yep, as you say, they could do that anytime they liked. Even if they managed to enforce it, though, I can't imagine the pros would outweigh the cons.
  8. Just doing what any good manager should do, shielding his staff from anything that might divert their focus away from getting on with their job.
  9. Of course, "SunSport understands" means "we're just having a guess that'll make us look good if we're right, but won't make us look too stupid if we're wrong", but anyway:
  10. 15 shots from us, 13 from them, according to MFC TV stats. But 11 of ours were on target, compared to their 2.
  11. Dunno about the others, but I'm more than happy to be paying a decent wage for a good second choice goalie. You never know when you might need to call him up for a crucial game or three, and you don't want to be gambling on the cheapest option you could find at that point.
  12. Was confirmed a couple of hours ago, club sent out an email pointing to the interview with him on MFC TV
  13. Of course we are third and that's great, but the trend in recent games has been very much downwards, and that needs to be addressed if we're not to have a mediocre second half of the season.
  14. Sadly they are still, on average, a lot less shite than us and everyone else other than Celtic.
  15. They are now. Not helping much, are they...
  16. Nope. Think the luck ran out of that at Tynecastle.
  17. Which incident was that? Only one I remember is when Enckelman dived at Daley's feet, and we got a corner... camera angle from behind the goal seemed to suggest that was the right decision.

    Europe

94/95, I'd guess... we finished 2nd on 54 pts, they were relegated with 36. EDIT: Incidentally, we've already won more games away from home this season than we did that season...
  19. Motherwell now 11 points clear at the top of the 'Real SPL' table http://www.aberdeen-mad.co.uk/sngl/ed15/real_spl_table_10_dec_2011_717264/index.shtml
  20. From 'fishel MFC Twitter feed: "Tonight's attendance has been reported incorrectly. The actual attendance was 7080. 1460 made the journey through from Edinburgh.".
  21. Born in Bellshill Hospital, family home was Hamilton, dad and brothers were already 'Well fans though so Accies never really an option Left Scotland in '93, now in Co. Meath in Ireland, after spells working in Cambridge, Hampshire, Bristol and Dublin.
  22. Some truth in that I think... I watched the STV report on it this morning, where they only showed close-ups, and it did look better that way. That said, part of creating installation art is taking account of the environment in which it's going to be installed, so it doesn't really matter how good it looked in the workshop (and the artist would have known that, or should have done).
  23. Given how much it costs to commission a statue, there'd probably be a few. Would cost a lot more than the memorial that was unveiled yesterday, and we don't have that sort of cash to throw around, sadly. And I doubt as many people would put their hands in their pockets to help out a second time around, so it would probably take a John Boyle figure to fund it himself. (Not sure that the family would necessarily want yet another Phil-related memorial at FP either... what with a stand and a sculpture already, a statue as well would be edging towards overkill...)

    Dundee Utd

The pitch gets my vote. Still looked in pretty decent nick at the end considering the conditions.
