  1. I agree he is not campbell level and I have been disappointed he has not progressed as well as likely himself was hoping for. I do feel there is a player in there somewhere but I can't fathom out his best position. Too slow in midfield. Not physical enough for centre back. Usually when that happens last hope is fullback but we have 2 international caps in squad so I feel he will most likely be a squad player which I would be happy enough with as he seems a good pro. As for a lot of support because he's an academy kid. I get that and so we should give our own a bit more leeway. Cornelius gets away with more than others too as will mckinstry and others that get brought into team also
  2. After 1st 25 mins which we just shaded killie were good value at least a point. However we had good chances with 3 breakaways that should have scored at least 1 goal at important stages of game. I felt their midfied totally bossed ours and they had power.polworth and mcinroy who are not exactly world-beaters. Maybe with better wide players to pass to they will get better but the aberdeen performance might have been a one off. Hope not. Good crowd and atmosphere yesterday 1st half and we again missed a trick to build on that but was pleasing at end no negativity. Win on Wednesday night and we go into next week v dun utd again with our tails up. Some new signings will also provide a lift for fans and team mates alike
  3. I fully agree with this. It winds me up that the pundits and ex pros always give it the "good foul to give away" patter when they stop a breakaway but they then say if a player "dives" in the box it is not something you want to see etc etc. Both scenarios are professional players doing all they can to win game but both should be treated the same . The hypocrisy in football is unbelievable.
  4. All this positivity is great. I've went full circle nearly in a week and no doubt it will continue through season I'd imagine. A big sorry huge thing now is the guaranteed group stage for 3rd place/sc winner that guarantees £3m plus additional for points gained gate receipt etc. I know our European days have been horrendous but group stage cash would be amazing for us. If you look at contenders we can certainly be in there and although hearts are miles better they will have 8 games minimum in Europe so that will I'd imagine hinder them. Aberdeen are no better than last year neither are hibs I don't think although dundee utd I feel are. Us st mirren livi are similar then I feel ross count st j and killie are lower down. Someone like snodgrass a new cb and striker and why not. Positivity goes a long way and here's hoping it continues. Saturday is again a gd marker
  5. Mcfadden talking scottish football on skysports there and 1st team walking out going to training. Mckinstry walked out in full training gear next to cornelius and devine I think it was. Excited to see this boy I have family who are leeds fans and go to their u23 games and say he is one of best on park regularly. Plays mostly of left but played all across their midfied with gd feet and not scared to dribble or shoot.
  6. Bloody hell!!! I seriously cannot believe that performance. Well done all the players and Stevie hammell and Brian kerr. There was a bit of confidence today and the negativity is away. Let it continue and I can't wait for next week already. Joe Efford runs at end. Goss with his passing. cornlius energy. slattery pass and move.2 fullbacks supporting. I could go on Dumbfounded but happy as larry
  7. Last week I said on another thread how I thought dun utd had assembled a gd squad with experience. Youth and some foreign players. Shows what I know lol and also on paper means nothing. A scary thing however as I watched it I said to my son that other than Kelly I don't think any of our players would get in their team. Importance of a good keeper was shown last night as big siegrist would have stopped 3 of those 5 in 1st half as would kelly I'm sure. Irs another debate but last night I feel highlighted how poor our league is other than top 2 and also that we need to make league bigger. All teams other than top 2 are so defensive, boring, timewasters and so scared to lose they actually forget or don't know how to attack. If any of our teams ever go 2 or 3 up that's it they just st back where AZ last night were a joy to watch with their movement and player ability on ball. Big sigh. Anyway Hammell I feel will be ok and I am tad disappointed with reaction of some on here but thats what forums are for.

    Alexander.

I was like nearly all wanting change and your 1st point on being inflexible was apparent since before start of last season . Whilst we can all see loads of faults in general football terms regarding our teams performance what we need to remember is Alexander seen those players and worked with those players every day. A guy who had more than 1000 appearances in England mostly in top 2 divisions, 50 international caps and few hundred in management . I'm sure he knows more about football than even our residential guardiolas on here. This is maybe why he had to play the way we did as if we tried a different way then he knew we would be nowhere. I am now in that camp as I just do not see anyone in midfield or upfront who I think looks competent at spfl level. Competitive maybe but ability to control and pass a football or take a player on, I just don't see it. So in summary I actually don't think we were harsh in our criticism of players other than some of the personal name calling at games and on here which is embarrassing. If we don't sign at least 1 each of midfielder striker winger and centreback who are better than we have then a long season ahead.
  9. just the players and style of their squad yorkyred. I am more than happy with way business side of club is run. We get a lot of plaudits for a lot of non football stuff from other fans and I am in agreement. Our players though is a different matter and the recruitment up to now for last few years has other than kelly, watt (who was a bit lucky) been poor imv with too many lower league english players. I dont think that stevie hammell would use that market as much.
  10. Im with you and whilst he may be a good coach ( i dont know) he has only done as you say which is not a great cv and also imo is like a load of OF ex players who sook up their arse at any opportunity. Just read derek mcinness interview there about kilmarnock game v rangers tomorrow and my god its nauseating for me never mind how a kilmarnock fan must feel. Im now warming more to the idea of hammell due to his work with youths, his loyalty shown to us over the years and also he seems to be a likeable guy with an affection for the players that was shown albeit only once last sunday . This may not suit some who say he's not best man for job due to inexperience but everyone starts somewhere. A left field appointment which we have done over the years would also sit ok but like others im getting a bit fed up of us signing majority from lower english leagues and getting maybe 1 in 5 right or even less Last nights dundee utd team is a template of where i feel/wishwe should be headed and yes we cant compete with them financially but have signed similar in past like ex scotland experienced internationals mulgrew/fletcher see faddy, pearson, mcmanus to help with their youth coming through that they have a lot as well as spfl experience in edwards, sibbald, watt see lasley hammel craigan etc then they are signing some good young players from bigger clubs teams like levitt, middleton see randolph, mccormack etc. Yes they may have pushed boat out and it could all come crashing down and I am not suggesting we break the bank but its a template similar to that we have used in past and it works.

    Alexander.

Great Post Dennyc and your point on odonnell is my view also. For other poster to say dropped because he was shit is actually laughable and whilst yes he had poor games he was and is still the best full back in squad and Alexander definitely had a fall out with him. This did happen . Odonnell is from our area and I'm sure there are some on here that know him or his family or friends and this is why it's easy to confirm.
  12. Totally disagree with that. In his 20 mins or so yes he had 3 passes that never found their targets however they were all attempts if they had completed would have resulted in 1 on 1 on goalkeeper chances for a team mate. Shows me he 1 is in position to do this and 2 isn't afraid to try as well as having vision to try. Also his attempt at end where he tried to chip keeper. Hammel also must know him well ike him and trust him to put him on at that stage when we were holding on for a win. Here's hoping he gets plenty more minutes as I am firmly on-board with hope for the future for him.
  13. Yep Im same we were certainly not outclassed. They won due to similar performance to what we achieved 1st half of last season which was score 1st hang in and see game out or score another against run of play. I felt we played into their hands both games with this tactic of get the ball forward early and play off 2nd balls. We done it from kick off with a punt up to KVV then next passage of play all way back to kelly and punt up park. They were set up to deal with this and I just wished we had passed it about the back for a while to settle us into game and get their players running around. Kvv been non existent both legs as have others but he was on full 90 both games i think? At start of 2nd half we went what looked like a 424 with shields in middle with kvv. Problem was we had morris on right and tierney on left with no crosses into box I felt then if we had morris wide left and spittal wide right which is maybe their natural positions then we would have seen deliverys into box. Start of season this weekend which usually calls for some excitement but not this year unfortunately and that tells its own story. If we dont have a new manager in place soon the atmosphere at games is going to be bad and after the connect the club has been slowly increasing over the years with the fans that will be sad to see and will only lead to a downward spiral.
  14. He needs to go it's that simple. Our best player we think is a signing from scunthorpe at 31. Let that sink in. Sick and the bottom line is we weren't prepared enough although seemingly we had other games played that we fans didn't know about . It was never enough. Our players just aren't good enough and we have let go watt, ofonnell on bench but Alexander and some say he's pish as well as others . Who in our team would hibs sign for example? Long season ahead unless Alexander is sacked. Craigan for me
  15. Scunnered the same as everyone else after 1 game and we simply need to win on Thursday or the toxicity will mean some won't come back for a bit I feel. After the build up of being in Europe the march the tifo the atmosphere at start of game 90 mins later maybe even 45 later we are all in meltdown. The victory parades round the park after the game by players the 1st half of last season after a win seem years ago. It looks like we are going to be playing same style as last year 433 which got us some lucky results at start but then got found out but this year imo we have a weaker team as no watt or woolery upfront so like others I a concerned. Regards the fans no doubt the main stand issues were poor from club but they have realised it and are going to fix it if hopefully we get another game in Europe. The East stand issues were from my vantage point caused by some fans being arses in the main. 40 year olds getting aggressive with younger guys asking them to sit down at start of game( it's a football match no the cinema) was the reply which I fully agree with certainly in the East stand but it got angry for a wee bit. between them. 50 year olds coming in 20 mins into game obviously had a few telling younger guys they were in their seat nearly a punch up when there was 4 spare seats together in next row behind that they eventually went in. I've heard few stories regarding similar and it happens every time our end is full and the entitlement of some causes hassle. I also see other side of coin that" it's my seat" " I am disabled " "my child is small and can't see "etc etc but it certainly should not resort to what was happening when it's easily sorted. Last points is regarding the sing in Chapel song and YouTube leaving early and I'll maybe get slaughtered for this but is you only sing in the Chapel really sectarian? I actually laughed at this at time and it's maybe because religion plays no part in my life whatsover and then realised maybe some will be offended by it but the young team who were singing it I don't think have the same religious undertone of the middle aged guys in West of Scotland. Certainly some of my sons pals who are Catholic celtic supporters and at game with him said they were not offended and thought it was patter. Maybe we are all trying too hard to look for offence nowadays but there you go I may be wrong . The YouTube guy leaving early was disappointing as like others I enjoy his content and he comes across as a great young guy and is very complimentary about Motherwell. I'd imagine if your letting fireworks off in street which is illegal then you don't want it publicised for everyone to see hence him likely getting asked to stop although I won't condone any threats towards him which is poor . There you go it's all done with till Thursday and god knows what will happen over there but I'm certainly not confident but there's always hope isn't there?
  16. I thought he had something as seen v dundee utd and hearts at home. Both were pishing wet nights so maybe ball held up in puddles rather than running out of play lol. Hope we have someone lined up to replace him . Although I think all signings so far are good and reliable players who I feel will enhance team they are not as others say exciting anyone but how many exciting signings do we ever make? Would mikey Johnston at celtic be available on loan? I'd imagine his salary would put him out our reach for permanent transfer but again unsure He is still young with potential and people to prove wrong and certainly would come under the kelly type signing where we take a risk financially with hope of selling on later. Just a suggestion off top of my head.
  17. Steven Davis I feel would be a great signing. Exactly what we need and would no doubt drive standards up. He does not have the baggage of other players from either of them i.e brown, griffiths ,boyd etc and he has also been used to playing as an underdog with northern ireland. I can not see any downside other than hes 37 and may get injured but he has looked fit enough any time ive saw him this season. Him and one other similar stature defender and striker and you have leaders and organisers in every area of pitch which we have not had this season. Even just being in for him is a serious upgrade in transfer gossip than there has been for a while.
  18. Maybe to support our boys? Must be shite as a player if you were running out and none of your own fans were there as can't be bothered going. Last couple of games there's no doubt the fans had a huge impact all driven by young team and added to by the rest. I respect your opinion as at both of them it can be hard going and it is expensive etc etc but if everyone had same opinion as you then it's basically raising the white flag to them. There's always a chance and anyone who's been there or other place when wev had a result will testify how good it feels. I still remember my 1st time there with my pals 1989 and we won and coming out walking to train station all well fans singing feeling 10 ft tall. That's how I want to go

    Alexander.

I'm with you grizzly but unfortunately I think your wrong. Some strange people in our support as in life. Booing from some last night at half time was unbelievable. Saw a couple up at dingwall on Saturday who will make themselves ill by their shouting pish at our boss. Never saw them at end of both games funnily enough.
  20. Can't buy tickets online and been trying all week so phoned our ticket office there who said they are just waiting on confirmation from celtic to get more. I asked how many we had sold but she said couldn't disclose. Celtic obviously want to keep them all for their own fans and I understand that but I'm a bit disappointed that it's not 48 hrs till ko and nothing sorted. I'm guessing here but I don't think we will have sold out the allocation that all away teams have to receive per spfl rules . This is sort of thing that no other team would get away with other than those 2 and gets me a bit pissed off. Would be hilarious if we could do something on Saturday and why not. Hope we can take decent crowd if permitted as players deserve backing after securing europe
  21. Yes they maybe have since January but we maybe got all our luck 1st half of season as we all saw we were just as poor but getting wins. Whilst united never troubled our goal a lot they did dominate ball but we had best chances. Think shape of team yesterday suited some better and next week I'd go same with hopefully odonnell back for rwb sol back for ojala and van veen for shields. Unbelievable really we still have a chance of europe and next week is biggest of season. County are decent though and they are favourites in my book but we have pulled better results from nowhere this season.

Yes I agree with that regarding our recruitment however we have an international full back and whilst we can all have our opinions on that SOD is that and I'd imagine when he goes it will be a long time before we have another There's no doubt in my mind the groans and moans from East stand have impacted him hugely. Our stand is very close to pitch and in any line of work if people are moaning at you all time it has an impact. I totally get frustrations this year but it winds me up when I hear some total negativity on a Saturday from a noisy few. Last night on twitter the club released a thing saying ," fully prepared ". Every response other than 1 from about a dozen was negative. I'd imagine the players on twitter read it and the ones not will hear of it. The anonymous nobody's of social media are anonymous nobody's in their own homes id imagine but they can have a huge influence unfortunately . P.s that's not a dig at yourself

It's quite straightforward I think if we get europe then everyone will be OK and happy. If not then I think the last of the goodwill will end. League season is over 38 games and if it all ends happily then whilst the football won't have been great (unless next 4 changes dramatically) he will be deemed a success. Fingers crossed for that happening
  24. Not dressing up anything at all just stating factual stats that show if he is out through injury suspension or dropped then we as a team are not as successful Everything else is just noise really.
