We as a team were summed up when after going 2 goals up the ref had a word with Kelly about wasting time. We were well on top and killie i thought looked the worst team to come to fir park all season. When they went to 10 men all we had to do was pass the ball around for a wee while between our defenders and goalkeeper as they only had 1 up front. 5 v 1 is quite easy to do but we actually just lost all confidence and played long balls and made pitch smaller. We should have been coming home last night on minimum 3-0 victory all in good spirits as we were miles the better team up to sending off. Players confidence is shot to bits and only 1 game back. We badly need a couple of new gd players in January that can lift us. The whole atmosphere at club just now with the arrests of some of young team and bad results and performances doesn't make for much positivity . It can all change quickly of course but hard to see where from

But we are supporting it through schools. That's the whole point. Just not enough schools. Every player nearly who's been in our 1st team from academy in recent years has come through braidhurst. Other than turnbull and maybe some others I don't know so it's proven it works. If you look at most scotland underage squads now majority say jd performance next to their name. It's not outdated it's happening now.
-
And that is a problem in itself. The clubs are only interested in themselves and the ratio of them producing players is imo low and the way the majority get treated is poor. A boy at 12 getting told he can't play with his pals is a ridiculous suggestion and boys and parents agree to it because they think they have too. Very few players now make it that haven't played pro youth and or been in performance schools so what I'm saying is let's have every school try and replicate what a performance school does. I'm also sure for family life that getting training and coaching and playing every day at your local school is more beneficial than travelling round trip 2 or 3 hours 3 or 4 times a week. There are loads of good players being missed or falling out of love with game at high school age due to lack of opportunities but as stated earlier in thread the number of scots in our top teams is ridiculously low so the chance for young Scots to fill those positions are there.

Schools have to be where its concentrate as everyone goes to school so the pool of players is 100% of population. The kudos for a school would be huge if they were doing well and this can be seen with braidhurst which regularly is bottom of league tables for academic results but wins a lot of football trophy and so the school has a huge sense of pride. I don't know what a coach at a performance school is on but I'd imagine maybe 20 to 25k so 300 schools with 1 coach full time is 6 to 7.5 Mill a year. A huge outlay but £1.50 roughly for every person in Scotland doesn't sound much to me for the benefits it would bring. I know the figures would not be as straightforward as that but as a ballpark figure maybe not too far away. I'm likely living in dreamland however unfortunately.

I totally agree with you on this Ya bezzer and I read a thread at weekend that highlighted the amount of scottish players playing in spfl and also now our championship and the figures were horrendous. I whinge about our lack of scots in team but we were top of pile nearly with an average of 5 players a game starting along with another 4 teams. Then another 4 with 4ish each and glasgow 2 and aberdeen with 2ish each a game. That is a downright disgrace in my eyes and highlights maybe a lack of talent within Scotland but certainly a thought process with management that lower level english players are better which is of course not usually the case as we have seen. The catastrophic state of youth development as you state is again a huge topic and again I would agree with you having been involved and seeing it through my own eyes. I do honestly feel it is simple to improve by getting more participation in schools. It is no coincidence that most of our recent successes within national team (patterson, gilmour, hickey etc ) went to performance schools and so were playing football everyday of their lives growing up at their school. Boys do not play up the park like they did 20/30/40 years ago and for a lot the only football they play is organised at boys clubs with their mums and dads watching on and in a lot of cases shouting and screaming at them. Some boys cant play because of costs involved some drop out because the coach favours their own or their pals own etc etc and they only play /train for a few hours a week. If every school had a dedicated coach for all the school teams in the country (roughly 300 schools) and was implementing similar to what goes on at performance schools then it seems quite simple that we would have a bigger pool of players in this country that would filter into every level of football. Football whether us older ones like to admit or not does not have the same pull as years gone by so I feel that we need to encourage it more and we have a captive audience at schools so this is way to go. The joy that football can bring to a country is unrivalled as can be seen with the scenes from Argentina in last day and the performance schools and rangers and celtic in effect having their own schools helps but there is so much more we can do

I didn't mean kicking them rather how it seemed their players were desperate to impress their manager and ours weren't. Your 2nd point is maybe a wee bit out as I'm sure none on here would describe any of those spurs players world class. Yes good players who cost more and earn more individually than our whole team as others have said but they are average epl at best. If as you say we are lucky to get the opportunity I'm glad to say the australia players at world cup didn't feel that way against real world class. Those boys which was near enough an spl asl select showed what can be done with good organisation and spirit. Yes huge difference from a world cup and a meaningless friendly but all players have huge pride in their ability and want to show it off and yesterday I never saw anything in what is likely our last game before league starts. I hope to be corrected on Saturday.

Bloody hell that game was embarrassing as is hammells interview Highlights how far we are behind top epl teams and their reserves. This was a friendly but I'd imagine any Well player of any substance would have looked upon it as a game v a top English team and seen it as an opportunity. Alas our players were too scared to go near them. I watched from 30 mins on and watched their midfielder Skipp rattle 3 of ours but we never committed 1 foul between 30 and 65 mins. We think they are a different breed and are scared to tackle them incase they complain. Scunnered with that today and some will come on and say we can't compete with them which is their right I just don't get lack of application. Rab Shannon jamie Dolan Jim Griffin Dougie arnott etc all average scottish journeymen would not have accepted that today . Felt like this after sligo and honestly struggling seeing any positives in our team before next week.

I'm with you on this and although it's part of the game there's too much made of it up here especially. If they could keep ball better we'd be miles better off. I'm reading on here dean cornelius has best stats for fitness and last year I read in daily record that barry maguire had broke allan campbells beep test record all of which shows it doesn't guarantee you will be a good midfield player. Give me a jan molby any day of week lol

Watching st mirren game and ohara captain for them. He's looked gd in every game I've seen him for them and imo was a mistake letting him go. Better than everyone of our midfield.
-
Burrows is very social media savvy and if he had to start the ball rolling and others got on board the media would be all over it as its a big story. Maybe in hope more than expectation but why cant all us other teams work together against them as although they both claim to hate each other they work together to ensure their stranglehold continues against all the rest.
-
My thoughts exactly spider. Cannot believe what I am reading this morning. They are unbelievable and what annoys me more is us and the rest being so quiet. They put on some face making out they are always being disadvantaged by someone . This last week has got to me more than it should but honestly sick of it and see why people get fed up and stop going.
-
That is the answer bobby. They have other cameras and an offside decision is really black and white with the lines added so there is no debate. Morris foul is debatable as down to refs perception. Throw in incident again is no debate and if he wasn't on park throw-in to celtic if he was free kick to us. It seems as if people on here are trying to say some for us some against but that's only case with Morris foul other 2 are quite simple in they were spotted and referee/var applies rules . Anyone get good view on bevis injury?
-
They checked it so they either don't know rules or its cheating. Seems as if we are whining but is their any other explanation.
-
Bobby are u at wind up? Play at free kick if player is not 10 yards back gets taken again and defender usually gets booked. Same rules at throw ins if less than 2 yards
-
Celtic player should have been booked and us awarded free kick.
-
An opponent who unfairly distracts or impedes the thrower (including moving closer than 2 m (2 yds) to the place where the throw-in is to be taken) is cautioned for unsporting behaviour and if the throw-in has been taken an indirect free kick is awarded.
-
Cornelius is certainly improving in the eyes of most on here by not playing . I thought hammell would obviously know him well and play him more but he obviously thinks others are better going by the minutes he's been on park. I think tomorrow he will stick with same formation i. 4231/433 and if he does then I'd have Kelly Mcginn/SOD sol lamie penny Slattery goss Cornelius kvv spittal Moult Not a lot of pace but we need to track their full backs as well as provide support for our fullbacks and Dean and Blair will provide that better than our other forward players I feel. Kvv and moult were swapping times at going back to defend on Sunday as well as being our main goal threats so I hope it can work. Spittal gets a bit of stick but he's had 2 goals and 3 assists in 13 games which isn't too bad I feel. Hoping for the best but fearing the worst as ever with these fkrs

Exactly. The thing is we actually have allies in the media in craigan and mcfadden and Gordon Duncan etc so we should be using it to our advantage. Celtic requested an explanation after hearts game last week regarding decisions why can't we? Is it because of cost maybe. Celtic and rangers and maybe hearts hibs aberdeen won't bother about 10k for instance in a fine but I'm sure we would and that I think is likely reason

A big thing with VAR is I thought any big decision in box gets looked at? It seems to be case in England and if so why was Goss not looked at? On another point Robbie Neilson was on radio after game slaughtering referee for their sending off and said that the ref told him it was for a high and dangerous tackle which he disagreed with. As well as saying Gordon got a touch of ball at moult penalty so decision was wrong. This was great management on his part I feel as all the talk and discussion was on how Hearts were harshly treated and not on our contentious decisions. Also if Neilson got an explanation I would have hoped and expected that Hammell asked him questions regarding our decisions and got an answer. Still raging this morning and as others said on this forum before VAR came in that our refs will still fck it up which at the time I disagreed with I now see it is going to be that way. We can only hope it is teething problems but more explanation is needed from the referees as every week now the chat on all forums is mostly about VAR which is wrong.
-
Think your wrong there the rules are yellow card awarded if : denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity by an offence which was an attempt to play the ball and the referee awards a penalty kick So on that basis I'm sure we all agree it was an obvious goalscoring opportunity. if he didn't attempt to play ball then a red card. We can all see problems within our team but this whole thing that the ref didn't affect game today is wrong it's not excuses it's factual . I was disappointed hammell didn't call it out more after game but I understand why he didn't due to fines and suspension maybe. Var is there to see if anything is missed and for most part gets it right. What I feel is happening now is ref wants var to make big decisions and var guys in studio or wherever they are want ref to make them leaving both not knowing who's in charge. Big decisions today were Gordon 2nd yellow? nothing to do with var. Clancy didn't want/scared to put them down to 9 men which is rules as stated above. Bad refereeing Offside with goss? I was adamant at time he ran from deep and as we see in England if linesman are unsure they leave flag down. Not here and so var can't do anything. Bad linesman call Sibbick hand ball penalty? Impossible to tell at game but he is on goalline nearly and even if hand is near body if it hits his hand should be penalty . Unsure on this and they didn't show it on Sportscene. Just gutted today as I honestly feel we were cheated. Refs can make wrong decisions and I have no problem with that but clancy just never applied the rules which I am sure he was aware of.
-
That is exactly why there's as much debate yabba. Loads don't know the rules. I'm a big believer in if refs came out and explained any big decision in a game or even the head of referees came out after game and explained why certain decisions were given then it would clear a lot up. Pundits quite clearly don't know rules and it creates untold problems for referees in their next games.
-
Disagree with that now. Efford is looking dangerous and flashed a few ball across box and on another day one would have resulted in goal. Today we were well on top and efford contributed to that. The team selection was good and carried on from Thursday. Let's enjoy the fact we were clearly well on top for the 1st time in I don't know how long. Also serious question where does your confidence in aarons and mckinstry come from? They do not look any better than efford for me although had less time obviously.
-
Just took grizzlyg word for it but off top of my head. His shot off bar rebounded to van veen at aberdeen. His shot won penalty at St mirren. And his pass v killie. Thats 3 in my book and I wouldn't consider myself a fan boy unfortunately .
-
Good point grizzly , spittals stats suggested this would be the case I felt and I'm glad it is. I also felt some on here were talking him down for no apparent reason other than ignorance of his stats and ability. Aarons is a big risk due to his lack of gametime certainly but my hope is he can produce what he done in 2nd half of st mirren 4-4 Cup replay when he was outstanding and created umpteen chances and scored. That's my recollection of him as well as untied boots which does my head in for some reason.
