  1. It really was worse, I’ve been around four seasons now and I can’t remember it being worse than yesterday, we literally could not string a couple of passes together.
  2. As much as Robinson used to get stick for us playing that way I agree that with Livi on their pitch it’s the way to go, unfortunately we don’t have big Ryan to knock seven bells out of teams these days and Hartley no longer likes a big punt.
  3. I thought our numbers were down next to the start of the season so not quite.
  4. It’s worth remembering that it’s a central striker we need and Scott was playing out wide.
  5. It’s my last visit there, the pitch is an abomination and just slows everything down with the ball sticking under players feet. We were still awful regardless but I’m not paying money again to watch so called football. I guess Livi fans put up with it because they gain so many points.
  6. I would be astonished if anyone other than Gillespie fails to donate their wages to charity.
  7. Ok let me start by saying selling Scott had zero to do with today’s performance. We were absolutely dire from back to front. Hartley went back to looking like he was returning from injury again, the whole midfield were missing in action, and no one up front impressed. We struggled to string two passes together and there was absolutely no composure shown from anyone. We looked like a bunch of carthorses we were so slow. Gillespie kept the score down because it should have been three or four. Even taking away the pitch I’m baffled how we can suddenly produce a performance that was just as bad as the Accies one after playing so well in the last couple of games, the players looked like they had just met each other in the dressing room.
  8. Hoping for at least a point and setting off to pick up Stephen shortly. We will be getting a bite to eat before the game in the banquet type area so anyone around feel free to say hello. Mark
  9. And to be fair I was one of those people. I still think he has a long way to go and he’s moving to a club that has just sold pretty much all their biggest assets and I would imagine will come under real pressure from their fanbase. I think it’s going to be really tough for him but having said that he does have all the attributes but will probably end up playing reserve team football. The premiership in Scotland is regarded as no better than league one/two down south and clubs would much rather move for foreign players than Scottish ones if they are paying millions. It’s a pretty good deal in my view, if he’s a success we will end up with 2 million plus.
  10. Taken from Pie and Bovril. Now the dust has settled on the (unexpected) Deadline Day big cash prize event, I had posted a variation of this around the time of The Magnificent David Turnbull Transfer Saga in the summer that's sort of worth updating. Since Hutchison took over (30th Jan 2015) and in turn we became fan-owned we've seen these reported fees (a pinch of salt should obvs be taken): 19/20 - James Scott (Hull City) - £1.5m - Transfer 19/20 - Reece McAlear (Norwich City) - £250k - Transfer 19/20 - Jake Hastie (Rangers) £300k - Development Compensation 19/20 - Stuart McKinstry (Leeds United) - £400k* - Transfer 18/19 - Ryan Bowman (Exeter City) - £30k - Transfer 18/19 - Cedric Kipré (Wigan) - c.£1m - Transfer 17/18 - Louis Moult (Preston North End) - £500k - Transfer 17/18 - Ben Heneghan (Sheffield United) - £350k-ish - Transfer 16/17 - Marvin Johnson (Oxford United) - £750k-ish - Transfer 16/17 - Stephen Pearson (Atletico Kolkata) - £100k - Transfer 16/17 - Ben Hall (Brighton) - £210k - Development Compensation 14/15 - Lee Erwin (Leeds United) - £500k - Development Compensation = £5.89m That obviously omits anything that may be due from Chris Cadden shafting us and I've also seen mention of Kyle Semple to Rangers for about £50k but he was still listed as a Motherwell player in the last Scotland u16s squad so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. During McCall's entire tenure (30 December 2010 - 2nd November 2014) these players left: 10/11 - Mark Reynolds (Sheffield Wednesday) - £100k 11/12 - John Sutton (Hearts) - free 12/13 - Steve Jennings (Coventry City) - free 12/13 - Jamie Murphy (Sheffield United) - £100k 12/13 - Nicky Law (Rangers) - free 13/14 - Darren Randolph (Birminham) - free 13/14 - Chris Humphrey (Preston North End) - free 13/14 - Henrik Ojamaa - (Legia Warsaw) - £300k 13/14 - Michael Higdon - (NEC Nijmegen) - free 13/14 - Tom Hateley - (Tranmere Rovers) - free 14/15 - Shaun Hutchinson (Fulham) - free 14/15 - Henri Anier (Erzgebirge Aue) - £300k Total: £800k.
  11. It all depends if Scott goes on to be a better player than Lee McCulloch. He’s scored four goals and while good on his day he’s still got a long way to go with no guarantees. However if he goes on to be as good as you obviously think he is we will also receive maybe another million due to the add ons. So if he does not develop a million and if he does maybe two million plus. Sometimes you need to have a little more faith in the club rather than always knocking it, I would say those running it have made a pretty good job of it as it stands. They have a business model that relies on selling players pretty much every season and keeping us in the black rather than going back to losing millions and putting the future of the club at risk. I also find it a shame you’ve yet again managed to have a pop at Robinson.
  12. Lower league striker we have never heard of again then.
  13. Maybe the medical will show he needs an op.
  14. There is of course the player to think of and how he would react to the club not giving him the chance of the move.
  15. Oh well good luck to him, big move to a good club in truth but obviously like all of us slightly gutted. It would have been nice to have watched him develop over the next 12 months but I don’t see how the club could turn down 1.5 million so understandable. Can we get someone in this late in the day ? I don’t see it sadly.
  16. It sounds like Scott is on the way out but the timing is certainly terrible. I would think it’s unlikely we will replace him this late in the window and as others have stated it’s leaving us with next to no quality up front. It’s probably also going to reduce the chance of European football next season.
  17. We would certainly have taken it two or three years ago. It’s a balancing act for the club given they have to keep the player happy and Hull are a pretty big club that were in the premier league not that long ago, while holding off for the maximum amount of money they can. Scott though is another player that should stay and develop for another season before he will sadly then move on to a big club down south. I don’t think he’s ready yet.
  18. In my view both Scott and Hylton are better players so even if he returned in what position would he play ?
  19. You see I’m not convinced Hastie is as good as he maybe thinks he is. He had a hot but very short spell but was probably about the most one dimensional player i’d seen for a while. I still remember commenting on him at one home game when you just knew he was going to try and cut inside every single time. I think we also need to remember how poor he was the last three or four games where he was subbed after doing next to nothing. I’m also less than convinced about his attitude which I note has also been mentioned on the Rotherham forum.Could he develop ? The coaching staff at the club are very good at improving players but I still thing Hastie will be one of those players that ends up staying in Scotland and playing below premiership level I’m afraid. I get the argument that he could not turn down the Rangers offer but think it could well have ended up costing him a career at the top level.
  20. There is nothing else, can’t understand what people are moaning about. When you buy a season ticket you are making a commitment to the club whether it be a good or a bad season. You’ve splashed the cash in advance and one of the benefits is first dibs in popular games. If anyone wants that then you buy a season ticket.
  21. Absolutely but it’s obviously a hell of a tough game on that abomination of a pitch. However we are good away with five wins in a row, full of confidence, and we will outnumber the home support so you never know.
  22. Overall we look a better team than Aberdeen, Take out Cosgrove and they are nothing special.
  23. To be fair we don’t have a player in the team who goes a full game without making mistakes. I went for Gallagher simply for his overall contribution.
