  1. Have any ground moves in Scotland really been a success. Airdrie, Clyde, Falkirk being three examples.
  2. 4-1 Celtic, we’ve got no chance.
  3. Wonder how much replacing the main stand , East stand, and digging up the pitch, would compare to building a new stadium.
  4. Car parking at Fir Park is an absolute doddle for sure, it’s way better than any out of town stadium where you are queuing for everyone get out. There are options to go for a drink, and it’s got decent rail links. Out of town stadiums are a huge risk with many supporters not willing to travel. If we move if needs to be somewhere within the town.
  5. I would hate to see the stadium move away from where it is just now but what would the options be ? I don’t know Motherwell too well living in Kirkintilloch. Is there ground within the town to build a new stadium ? Surely rebuilding with a new main stand would be the best option, something along the lines of the Falkirk main stand. Not sure how much they could do with the Hunter stand though given the space. The stands at both ends are surely fine. As above I would hate a boring new build along the lines of St Mirren.
  6. As said further up the thread it’s going to depend on which version of Livi turns up. They can be anything from really good to awful.
  7. Let’s be honest Hearts will pay if they want him, Robinson will go if he wants the challenge of a bigger club. Whatever anyone thinks of Robinson we are in 3rd place in November. If we can find a replacement that can better that good luck, I suspect the odds are that’s not going to happen, any compensation will be peanuts in relative terms next to the potential that we could start going backwards if he leaves.
  8. Don’t see compo that would be close to what it could cost the club if they let him go. We should do everything in our power to hold on to him.
  9. I actually think we could lose him, he won’t be turning the opportunity down if it comes, that’s for sure.
  10. Long for his work rate but he still needs to improve the technical side of his game along with his finishing. He has potential though.
  11. Strange game where we had so much possession but went nowhere with it. We moved the ball from side to side quite correctly against ten men but again we lack cutting edge up front, oh for a natural goalscorer. I’m another that finds it hard to believe that we are the third highest scorers in the league but the facts don’t lie. Another soft goal in my view sadly and we continue to show frailties at the back, you just never feel secure at a Motherwell game. Killy look a good team to me, very well drilled unit and I would not be surprised to see them finish third in truth. No real stand out performers for me with Long probably nudging it for the amount of work he put in, he still has a lot of improving to do though. Overall not a bad game to be fair.
  12. The problem I see on here at times that that some posters just don’t like Robinson and never will, they want him gone regardless. When St Johnstone were doing well and were a top six team the talk was why could we not do that and their manager was some kind of genius. We are doing well and it’s a different reaction. It feels at times that some people are just looking at things to complain about, even making cup finals is not enough because we should not be losing to Celtic, I just don’t understand that mentality. All I’ve ever known as a short time supporter of the club is people wanting the manager out, Barraclough, McGee, and a minority Robinson. I’m honestly not sure if the club will ever be able to appoint anyone some would be happy with. It’s the nature of football fans that they like a moan and tend to think they know better. Managers never pick the correct first 11 and it seems all of them fail to have a plan B. Aberdeen fans are the same with McInnes, he will never win them over regardless of results. St Mirren fans did it with Danny Lennon. It’s been a very good start to the season, let’s just enjoy it.
  13. The difference in budget is a huge factor in all of those things because we have inferior players to Rangers. You’ve basically just stated we had a keeper that made mistakes who we signed from the lower leagues because we don’t have the budget to sign one of a higher lever standard. You could not have made the point about budgets making a difference any clearer.
  14. So it’s simply a case of appointing a manager that can win two cup finals against Celtic, should not be too difficult.
  15. We will always have mistakes in the team simply because we play a mixture of youngsters and lower league players, that’s not going to end regardless of the work done on the training ground. All that really matters is making the most of what we have and the league position come the end of the season.
  16. You can quote individual games and clubs all you like but the plain fact still remains that money talks. Why are St Johnstone down the bottom this season ? Is their manager suddenly useless or does it have anything to do with the playing budget again being cut ? It’s not about players going in to hiding. Better players will find a way to win, that’s just football in general and you see it every week. Liverpool losing today, I bet they come back in to it. A manager with a multi million pound group of players sitting on a bench is is in a far better position to change a game than a manager with a bench full of youngsters. But come on, you know all this already.
  17. Pretty much how I feel. Why have a very difficult game on Wednesday against a team getting better and better, lose that and it’s three defeats in a row going into the Livi game who won’t make it easy and the pressure will no doubt be back on Robinson. However at this point just about every Motherwell fan would have taken where we are in the league just now.
  18. Everything is to do with budgets, bigger budget, better players. Put Lennon or Gerrard in charge of Motherwell and see if they finish top two. It’s not about attitude it’s about realism and the fact that less technically gifted players will struggle against superior players nine times out of ten. There is a very sensible reason why Motherwell have not won a league game at Rangers since year dot and it’s not down to every manager and set of Motherwell players letting themselves down. Qualifying for Europe won’t be about the results at Parkhead and Ibrox, it’s what we do in the other ones.
  19. We lose to a team that dwarfs our budget, we move on.
  20. Sadly pretty much a nailed on defeat, they have way too much up front, 4-1 Rangers.
  21. To be fair we’ve had defended out injured and suspended this season with a full back playing on the wrong side and a midfielder playing as a full back.
  22. I doubt it will go on long. Celtic well and truly in the driving seat this time. That injury will end up costing the club big style. People thought 3 million was not enough, watch what he goes for now.
  23. I would agree with all of that, we will never know if things would have turned out differently if the pen had gone in, they may have lost a bit of confidence. I though every players was a good 10% down yesterday and as a team we were very sloppy. I thought we missed Donnelly who would no doubt have put away the penalty and is a better fit in midfield than Maguire who I still think is a centre half learning his trade. Robinson has stated he was told Hartley was going back on so no real blame on him there. I still think the main thing we lack is a competent centre forward and that’s going to be the difference this season. I don’t believe Cole or Long are the answer, Long never seems to have the ball fully under control and Cole is still very much a work in progress, Scott will get there but is still a bit off.
