FFS, the guys been gone a few years now and playing in the same league as us so we’re all aware of how he’s getting on - do we really need to keep discussing him? I can understand talk of him moving on and potential money we would get but this chat is just pish.
Spittal, with two goals would normally be MotM for me but unfortunately his set pieces today - apart for the free kick goal - were honking. It looked to me that he was trying to score from every corner and Morrison lapped that up.
Gent, Montgomery and Davor all played well and it was tight between them although I went for Gent in the end.
A good discussion but I’ve a feeling that this board had a similar one a few years ago where I think it was discussed how the club was using this type of analytics to unearth gems from the lower / foreign leagues along with personal in game tracking to monitor/ improve our players.
I seem to recall folk saying how using this data alongside watching / scouting would improve the quality of our signings.
The thing is that if every club is doing the same using the same data/ technology in the same way then we are now in a position of trying to sell ourselves as a club to these players who are getting similar or better offers from other clubs.
I’m sure we’ve had a few managers who have lamented our lack of facilities, wage constraints etc as reasons for not being able to entice players to join us which in my view is a major reason to why we are in the shite position we are in.
Unfortunately I don’t see any way out of this situation.
Naive from Miller, should have pleaded his innocence and at least stayed on the park until the VAR check was completed. Walking off just gave VAR an excuse not to look at it properly
O’Donnell just pipped it, looked solid, defended well, had some good crosses and passed well - thought he wasn’t at fault for the goal as he had come in to cover or the guy would have had a free header.
No matter what his wage was I’d like to see the freed up cash used to offer improved, extended contracts to a couple of the squad rather than spent on another mediocre striker who may or may not improve our frontline.
Beireth’s injury was due to a horrendous tackle which would have sidelined many a player so I think anyone can put him in the made of glass basket yet.
I’m hopeful that Bair can play the same type of role as Fletcher at half the cost. Fletcher isn’t a great contributor of goals but can noise up a defence and so far Bair seems to be warming to that role.
I’d still love to see him get a few goals but it’s early days so let’s see how he develops.
Or maybe we deliberately don’t advertise these game to avoid the players being labelled push before they even make the 1st team squad. Can you imagine the abuse and crap some on here would spout about guys learning their trade. Best leave them alone to develop quietly.
Im sure a few folk know when they’re playing, go along watch and support the youngsters but then keep quiet about what they saw rather than ranting at any small mistakes made.
