Of course it’ll be a season ended. Our players just can’t pick up wee niggles that keep them out for one or two games.
-
Get international football in the fucking bin! It’s bad enough we can’t seem to go a few weeks without key players picking up injuries when they’re with us but when it’s playing a meaningless friendly for the National team then it just rubs salt in the wound. I hope Holland pump Scotland tomorrow night as a GIRUY to the SFA.
-
The club have released a statement “seeking an explanation from the SFA on a number of refereeing decisions”.
-
I take your point but if a side is only needing one shot at goal to beat us and we can’t get back in the game with over half of a football match still to play, at home, then I’d say that we deserve to lose. It’s fine margins in this league and games like today’s more often than not come down to which side can take chances at one end and keep goals out at the other.
-
The VAR decision was in the 43rd minute. As harsh as it looked we were already behind at that stage and deservedly so. We then had an entire half of football to get back level but we never looked like we would score. “We don’t have anyone that can convert half chances”. You’re right there. And that is why we lost today and deserved to lose, because if you can’t score goals then you don’t win football matches.
-
No arguments there, we deserved to lose. VAR is a separate issue, and as I said is ruining football matches.
-
It’s the inconsistencies with VAR and refereeing decisions that is most frustrating. What you see pulled back one week is let go the next. It’s just scunnering. That said we were awful today. Flat, ineffective, weak in midfield and conceded a poor goal. Just so depressingly predictable.
-
I prefer to keep it in my pants to be honest, that way I don’t run the risk of being arrested for indecent exposure and all that. 👍
-
Thank you.
-
We could play until this time tomorrow and not score.
-
I know it’s not a popular opinion but we miss Slattery.
-
It’s been depressingly predictable so far. After beating Rangers at Ibrox the other week following that up with a dismal performance and a loss at home to a poor Aberdeen side was always on the cards.
-
No wonder. One of the best things about games was celebrating when your team scored. But now you can’t fully celebrate just in case a player who put a cross ins big toe was offside.
-
Get VAR so far to fuck. It is absolutely ruining football.
-
Deservedly behind. Been 2nd best and dreadful defending for that goal.
-
It appears that I and I dare say very few Motherwell fans are surprised to hear this.
-
Hope we win but can’t see it. This has all the hallmarks of a defeat. (Big win at Ibrox, on paper this fixture should be ‘easier’). 0-1 Aberdeen

No player is bigger than the club. It doesn’t matter how well they have done for us or how ‘pally’ they are with some supporters, at the end of the day players will come and go but the club will always be here. If KvV, Blair Spittal or whoever decide to move on after a good season with us then good luck to them, as long as we as a club do okay from the deal.

We got the best of Kevin van Veen, especially in the last few months of his time with us. He was confident, fit and scoring regularly. He was always going to leave last summer when his stock was at its peak and him and his agent were seeing £££ signs. Had he stayed here I don’t think he would have been anywhere near 29 goals this season.
-
It would be the most ‘Motherwell’ thing ever if we follow up a win against Rangers at Ibrox with a home defeat to a struggling Aberdeen next week.
-
A thoroughly uninspiring signing who looked thoroughly uninspiring for his first few months or so. But his workrate was never in question and he has been without doubt a much improved player since mid to late December and has clearly grown in confidence and is now a key part of the team that we wouldn’t want to be without. I like him.

I’ll look forward to seeing those posts then. I don’t think it’ll be representative of the whole Hearts support but it’ll be interesting to see posts like that nonetheless. I don’t have any kind of ‘hard-on’ for Hearts or any other club other than Motherwell. As I’ve said before, I respect Hearts as a club and admire their support and their fans loyalty to their club. There’s not many, if any, clubs in Scotland have as passionate and loyal support as Hearts do. We won, that is the main thing and you’re right about that. And each to their own. For me though, while winning at Ibrox at last was special and nothing else that happened this weekend could top that, Celtic and Rodgers losing to Hearts and thereby squandering their chance to go back to the top of the league is an extra and we’ll appreciated bonus. 👍

Yes if you want. As I said I’m not trying to be awkward here, I’m genuinely interested. If you have seen posts by Hearts fans on social media and can show me those posts then fair enough. I would have to disagree though that they have a leaning in one particular direction. Most Hearts fans I know, in fact, ANY Hearts fan that I’ve ever known has only ever had a leaning towards Hearts and no one else. I’ve said this before on these forums, Hearts fans support their club through thick and thin and tend not to care what any one else thinks of them. And as for that ‘Billy Boys’ chant. That used to be quite common place at Fir Park back in the late 80s/early 90s. It’s not now thankfully as I wouldn’t want that to be something which was sung at our ground. It’s not a very nice song, to put it lightly. But I still don’t think that the Motherwell fans who sang that back in the day had ‘Rangers preferences’. They might have been a bit misguided and ignorant (to put it mildly) but I don’t question their support for Motherwell FC. And I think the same goes for those in the Hearts support who did/do the same. I think the best way to go about things is to just support your own club in your own way and not to give to shits about either Celtic or Rangers.

Do you have any evidence of Hearts fans posting stuff like that? I’m not being awkward or argumentative btw, it’s a genuine question. I can’t speak for anyone else but any Hearts fan I’ve ever known has only ever been interested in what is best for their club and they certainly don’t have any preference or leaning towards either OF club.
