Looking at the way he set up tonight our options at the moment are GK- Oxborough/Ward RB - SOD/Koutrombis/Mcginn CB - Gordon, Balmer, Mcghee, Mcginn LB - Wilson CM - Miller, Halliday, Slattery, Watt, Fadinger, Sparrow RW - Nicholson, Ross LW - Maswanhise ST- Stam, Robinson , Stuparevic we need 6/7 in to strengthen the squad. With a few outgoings. - Starting LB and RW need to be recruited asap. - We'll also need another 2 Cms when Miller is sold. - We need a LW, CB and a Target-man ST to put us in a good position going into the season.
-
That game should highlight to the new manager what he needs to add to his squad. We need to add more pace in the wide areas as well as a ST before the cup games but sure this is probably something the new gaffer is already looking at. Though Watt in the middle looked decent handled the ball well and Miller absolutley strolled it. Was 1-0 when majority of the senior players were on against a decent side.
-
pretty sure it's a 433 Fadinger- LW , Maswanhise - RW
-
Was to be expected with the news of Oxborough's injury we'll keep him for the bench until he's back and then loan him out again i'd assume.
-
From looking around Watt seems like a creative midfield player with an eye for a pass. From reading reactions his main drawbacks is he gives away cheap fouls round the box and he was arguing with the fans when he was the captain at Burton. Majority of St Johnstone fans seem to think he's a decent player for what it's worth
-
Do we have any idea what formation we're going to be playing under the new gaffer? He apparently played 433 in Sweden and a 343 in Denmark so doesn't seem to have a set formation.
-
Dependant on what formation we play we need to recruit - A CB - LB/LWB depending on formation - Holding Midfielder - Box to Box Midfielder - LW and RW depending on formation new manager wants to play - A Striker
-
I'd of happily let all 3 Rbs leave I don't think any of them are great. I could of understood keeping Mcginn for the leadership he brings before SOD triggered his extension clause but once that happened I thought we should have let him go. For me Mcginn is a better player and defender than SOD.
-
Squad looks like in position atm looks like GK - Oxborough/Ward RB - Koutrombis, Mcginn, SOD Cb - Gordon, Balmer, Mcghee Lb- Wilson Cm - Miller, Slattery, Halliday, Fadinger, Wells, Sparrow Rw- Nicholson, Ross LW- Maswanhise St- Stam, Robinson, Stuperavic Miller will be sold for a big fee. We then have to shift guys like Nicholson, Stuperavic and one of the Rbs ideally SOD.

The players aren't in the building for another week and the first week will all be fitness related anyway. Like realistically as long as we have a manager in before the Netherlands training camp they'll have plenty of time to work with the players before the league cup group games and the season starting. We also have a squad of 20 senior players at the moment so I only expect us to add 4/5 more.
-
I'd take him been crying out for a proper holding midfielder for years.
-
You would think so but I guess it will depend on our new manager, Of the 6 Seddon is the 1 I'd want to keep.
-
Squad update out Squad for next season Aston Oxborough. Calum Ward Stephen O’Donnell, Liam Gordon, Kofi Balmer, Paul McGinn, Johnny Koutroumbis, Ewan Wilson Tom Sparrow, Callum Slattery, Andy Halliday, Lennon Miller, Dylan Wells, Lukas Fadinger (Summer signing 2025), Olly Whyte Luca Ross, Tawanda Maswanhise, Sam Nicholson Zach Robinson, Apostolos Stamatelopoulos, Filip Stuparevic Players in contract talks Dan Casey, Steve Seddon and Harry Paton, Moses Ebiye, Dom Thompson, Davor Zdravowski
-
looks liike it.
-
Hope he does well but signing players with no manager makes no sense to me.
-
Jordan Mcghee maybe?
-
Hale's under contract their for 2 more years, so unless we're going to stump up the 300-400K they'll want or he has a relegation release clause for less than that we won't get him but he's a quality player.
-
Hopefully Kettlewell will come back in for a couple of the players he signed for us. Nicholson, Callahan, Koutrombis. Welcome to SOD aswell.
-
Docherty isn't terrible but Dundee shipped 60+ goals in both of the last 2 seasons.
-
It's got appointing Tony Docherty all over it. Won't go foreign again as we did and they left after 12 games. Will be a UK based manager most likely.
-
Clubs made a quick profit and stayed in the league can't really complain. The real issue with him going is we have quite a big squad left behind and all the players get a clean slate under a new manager.
-
Yeah hadn't included Ross or Wells in that number but if you do it's 20 + the 3 I think will get offered deals that's 23. Not leaving much room to bring in players initially. Can actually see Luca Ross getting used as a Wing Back in this formation and Wells might get minutes in the 2 positions behind the striker in the current formation. As I've said earlier on this I'd be trying to shift Koutrombis, SOD, Nicholson, Stuperavic and obviously we'll sell Miller for a decent fee. We need to add pace and power to our squad in all areas to play at the intensity the manager wants. This summer we probably need to look at adding 7/8 Players for me: 2 CBs, a LWB, 2 CMs , 2 Forwards
-
I think he's a good player but he's too injury prone for us to sign permanently
-
I suspect Seddon, Paton and Casey have been offered deals of the ones OOC. My issue is if those 3 sign on that's 21 under contract if you include Mcghee. Currently leaving Andrews, Kaleta, Armstrong , Balcombe, Taveres, Watt, Plange, Dickson, Mair, Vale - Returning to parent clubs. Only 1 I'd want back is Andrews. Callahan, Seddon, Casey, Davor, Ebieye, Thompson, Paton, Blaney Of OOC I'd only keep Seddon.
-
I can see us renewing Watt, Paton and Casey tbh but that wouldn't leave much much room to bring players in even with a few moving on.
