  1. Same as you were 99.9% certain Hibs were going to gub us. Or Saint Johnstone would catch us out. Or Herts were going to stuff us. etc, etc etc etc etc...................
  2. We won't lose this tomorrow. Might mean a lot to Aberdeen, but sure as heck means a lot to us as well. Results don't lie, we ARE a better team than they are, and we are virtually at full strength whilst they are missing several players through injury. Next Saturday I think will be a far tougher game than tomorrow considering our central defence is missing.
  3. Would really love to stuff this mob tomorrow. We've only hit four against them once since the late 50s and we lost that 5-6. Come on Motherwell, gub them!!!!!!
  4. Broon is under big pressure to win this, as if they don't, their season is well and truly finished once again well before Easter. I do fancy we've too much for them to cope with at the back, I know they've got draws at Ibrox and at home to Celtic, but they always turn up against Rangers and were up against a Celtic team last week seemingly already in wind-down mode having won the league. That's a mindset which might come back and bite their arse incidentally. Anyway, first goal crucial, think we'll go at this like a steam train early doors and get it sorted.
  5. March 31st could be so massive in the chase. Are Rangers due to come to Fir Park a third time? You can imagine the wheels in motion to think of an excuse that they don't have to........
  6. Me too! That was a direct quote from the Daily Rancid. No surprise they can't even get player names right. Must be taking their copy from the BBC. How is Lawleff playing these days anyway?
  7. Full squad apart from Stevie. Bit different for next Saturday though..........!
  8. Who gives a flying f*ck what you spent Brown? Come on Motherwell, GET TORE INTO THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! CRAIG BROWN insists he’s put his money where his mouth is to back Motherwell, unlike the boo-boys set to shout abuse at him on Sunday. The Aberdeen boss spent more than £300 in the club shop at Fir Park on strips for his grandchildren, backed other worthy causes and put results on the board. Yet he has been a target for a section of the Steelmen’s support for quitting Fir Park for a better contract at Pittodrie. And he knows there will be a bulls-eye on his back when the sides face off for a place in the Scottish Cup semi-finals. Brown said: “I’m used to the abuse but I’d say to these guys: ‘how much did you spend in the club shop last Christmas?’ “I spent more than £300 on strips for my grandchildren who are still wearing them so getting abuse is a compliment. “When we went to Fir Park the club was on a downer, losing five and drawing four of their previous nine games. We went on a run, winning eight and drawing four of our games which gave everyone a lift. “We enjoyed six games in Europe which brought the crowds back so I have nothing to be embarrassed about returning.” Brown admits the challenge of bringing the Scottish Cup back to Pittodrie after a 22-year absence is huge as Motherwell are the third-best side in the country. And he stressed that Stuart McCall is a leading candidate for Manager of the Year. The Dons boss said: “If we enjoy the luck we had against Queen of the South, scoring near the end to win, we can lift the cup. But we can’t depend on a last-minute goal from a defender. We’re not going to get a break like that at Motherwell. “They are a top team. If you go through their side, you couldn’t pick a weakness. “They have Darren Randolph, an exceptional goalkeeper. Tom Hateley and Stephen Hammell are top-class full backs while they have three very good centre-backs to choose from. “They also have the transfer of the season, Henrik Ojamaa, a live-wire and an inspired signing while Michael Higdon has replaced John Hutton. “They kept Jamie Murphy when Blackpool wanted him and have two flyers, Omar Daley and Chris Humphrey. We know them inside-out and respect the quality they have. “But Stuart McCall will be looking at our players who have put together a 12-game unbeaten run. They’ll be giving us a bit of respect as well. What is certain is that we can’t be short of our best because they are a very good team. “I hesitate to say it but Stuart had a maintenance job rather than a rebuilding one. But that can be harder because they were at a level and if you don’t maintain it, you’re a failure. “He not only maintained it, he improved it so you couldn’t give him other than maximum praise. He’ll certainly be in contention for the Manager of the Year award.”
  9. We haven't got a shit defence!!!! Only Herts have conceeded less goals than us (29 v our 33), just 1.14 goals per game. Think we give our boys a hard time too often.
  10. Don't see us playing at Hampden two years in a row? We did it THREE times last season!!!! No reason why, if we play anything like we can, it can't be another twice this season. Like yesterday, we have the players to get through Aberdeen and the midfield to nullify any threat they have from there. Motherwell to progress.
  11. I must be in a minority who doesn't care if Dunfermline go down. Won't forget them gits chucking me out all them years ago.
  12. The Dundee United game was a mare. Especially for big Sieb I seem to recall. The last day of the season saw Dundee go to Ibrox and get a 0-0 draw. If only.........!
  13. Nah, we had 9 wins, 7 draws and 6 defeats that year. Had we won our last two at home (1-2 v United, a win which kept them up, 0-1 v relegated Saint Johnstone, and managed to beat relegated Raith away (3-3 draw) we'd have won the league by a point! Those three games still haunt me.........
  14. Well, not really. Was still there, guess it shows just how wrong the original poster was. Always interesting to bring up a thread like this after a while.
  15. Time for this thread to hit the dust surely!
  16. That'll be this thread..... http://www.steelmenonline.co.uk/forums/index.php?showtopic=12340&st=120&p=326037&hl=+mccall%20+must&fromsearch=1&&do=findComment&comment=326037
  17. I've calculated that if we manage two more away wins this season, it'll be the first time since 1933-34 that Motherwell have won 10 or more away wins in the top flight. The away form this season has been nothing short of exceptional. As it is, just four away defeats in 15 games - magnificent stuff.
  18. Currently ELEVEN clear as things stand. And four behind some mob in who are second....... Correction. Now three points behind......
  19. Hearts have plenty of talented players but are a mess behind the scenes which must be affecting them. Dunfermline have one or two good players but are pretty guff at the back. We've got the players to run them ragged.
  20. Especially the heinous crime of taking photographs...............
  21. Strong Partick line up (as in first team?)?
  22. Guys did well on Saturday without being able to cut through the best defence in the league (stats don't really lie). Similar performance and we have the players to be able to tear Dunfermline (64 goals conceded in 29 games) a new one several times over, that's why I'm confident of the three points coming back along the M8 to Motherwell.
  23. Plenty of empty seats amongst the "greatest fans in the world" I see..........
  24. Far as I'm aware everyone is currently available for the Cup tie. Aye, we'll be stretched for the league game, but we'll cope. Would be much more concerned if it were one of the Old Firm.
