Most Controversial Decision In A Motherwell Game This Season..
Rickoza replied to SPLrefs.com's topic in Club Chat
Allowing Ross Tokely to be registered as a football player once for another season. Baffles me every time.......... -
It's been a quick season I think, can't believe that's it after tomorrow! For me, I honestly think we will take this lot tomorrow big-time. End the season with a bang and get the European place as well. Even their own fans think they won't score without Kyle, says a lot does that!
-
The way it is displayed here is probably the best way I've seen it.... RSSF

Not that I can't handle it, of course I can. Like you have your opinion, I have mine. Nothing to do with tradition, it just simply looks plain daft to have a table with a team having more points than those as many as four places above it, that's all!
-
In 2005/2006, Inverness had more points than Hibs, Kilmarnock and Aberdeen with 58, 56, 55 and 54 respectively. I know that they had less-demanding games, it just makes it a farce to have a team scoring more points but unable to climb the table. Final Table: 1.Celtic 38 28 7 3 93-37 91 2.Heart of Midlothian 38 22 8 8 71-31 74 3.Rangers 38 21 10 7 67-37 73 4.Hibernian 38 17 5 16 61-56 56 5.Kilmarnock 38 15 10 13 63-64 55 6.Aberdeen 38 13 15 10 46-40 54 7.Inverness Caled. Th. 38 15 13 10 51-38 58 8.Motherwell 38 13 10 15 55-61 49 9.Dundee United 38 7 12 19 41-66 33 10.Falkirk 38 8 9 21 35-64 33 11.Dunfermline Athletic 38 8 9 21 33-68 33 ---------------------------------------------- 12.Livingston 38 4 6 28 25-79 18 Relegated And you're right. The SPL and common sense are never going to be on the same planet at the same time.

If we win on Saturday, and Hibs beat Aberdeen on Sunday, we will end up on 51 points - more than both of these teams. There are a lot of pros and cons about the split, but to me, this is the thing which makes it completely and utterly pointless. It's a piece of nonsense that we can have more points than the team finishing fifth (and two places higher than us) in the league! It had some excitement on the final set of games before the split I know, but overall, I think it should be binned and let's get back to a regular season.

We're In Line For A Uefa Place Just Now........

Now confirmed.... BBC SPL trio face early start in cup By John Barnes Three Scottish Premier League clubs will have to start next season's domestic campaign two weeks ahead of the rest of the 12 teams. They will be competing in the Co-operative Insurance Cup at the first-round stage, which begins on 1 August. It is a knock-on effect from Scotland winning six places in European competition next season. Qualifying clubs are exempt from the competition until the third round to assist their European challenge. Normally, SPL clubs, who are not involved in Europe, begin their League Cup campaign at the second-round stage. The 32 lowest clubs in Scottish football will participate in the first round of the League Cup. It just means we'll have a competitive game a fortnight earlier than expected Hamilton Accies secretary Scott StruthersNewly-promoted St Johnstone will be one of the three SPL teams involved. The two lowest-placed teams - between Hamilton Accies, St Mirren and Inverness Caledonian Thistle - after this weekend's final round of league fixtures will be the others. Falkirk, who are currently bottom of the SPL, are excluded as they will be involved in Europe because of their place in the Scottish Cup final. The Scottish Football League on Wednesday notified the SPL clubs that they could be back in competitive action earlier than expected. Hamilton, who could be affected if they finish second or third bottom of the SPL, said they are comfortable with the situation. Accies secretary Scott Struthers told BBC Scotland: "If that's the case, we'll just have to live with it. "It just means we'll have a competitive game a fortnight earlier than expected." -

Didn't realise this (taken from http://www.stmirren-mad.co.uk/news/loadnew...amp;id=447922.) So important to avoid the bottom of the SPL altogether, wasnt' it? -

I quite fancy an away trip here.... Boyo I've got relatives who stay in nearby Port Talbot, so that'd be ideal! It's a pity they didn't make it as it could've been The Steelmen vs The Steelmen. Noticed this on the Llanelli website. 1st of June!!!! -

It makes you wonder how each country decides their own. Look at Denmark, their winner wouldn't get anywhere near winning ours, nor if that was their UEFA total they would finish 2nd from bottom of 53 teams! Norway, the winners, would see their team in 4th and out of a place. It does also say in the UEFA article that, and I quote........ -
I remember a few things in particular, like shouting "there's only one United, and that's a chocolate biscuit" at United fans to much amusement. I also left my jacket on the supporters bus and, after the game, had no idea which bus I was on, and therefore lost it! Everyone just piled onto whichever bus they could get on to, and it was weird how no-one could speak for a spell they were so drained....that didn't last long though! Walking all the way back from Motherwell to Viewpark that night, quite literally floating on air after a brilliant day. Straight in, on with a pizza and a complete re-run of the game. Magic!

This week-end's game is on BBC Alba. Not Sultana. Not BBC. And not Sky!!!!

Really pleased to hear that, good test for the new season ahead. Wonder if MM knows already that most of our pre-season will involve trying to negotiate the Europa League preliminary prelimnary etc etc rounds..........

Surely this would be mentioned in the rules? Besides, we will perhaps end up with more points than Hibs anyway. -

Do the SFA/SPL tell the clubs after each game what the Fair Play table currently is? -

I think we completely underestimated MyPa. Outplayed them just two weeks later. we should've made an earlier start and got more matches in beforehand. Don't think we'll make that mistake again surely. -
With an uncle like that he just has to be good. Congrats indeed!

I can't believe that'll be 18 years tomorrow since Hampden in 91

Complain to the SPL, gotta be something dodgy about that.

MM wants Sheridan to stay.. Motherwell boss Mark McGhee has indicated his desire to keep a hold of on-loan Celtic striker Cillian Sheridan when the season draws to a close. The Irishman was at the hub of his side’s 3-0 Lanarkshire derby victory at Hamilton on Saturday, claiming a goal and playing a part in the other two strikes by David Clarkson and John Sutton. Although the 20-year-old seems set to return to Celtic Park with a view to becoming a first-team regular with the champions, McGhee hopes he will still be plying his trade at Fir Park next year. “I think we’ll be investigating what Gordon Strachan’s plans for him are,” admits McGhee. “I would certainly be more than happy to keep him at Motherwell a bit longer if Celtic aren’t quite ready to have him back. “But I would imagine what will happen is that he will go back and then it’s up to him to show that he’s ready to be part of their plans. If he isn’t I would certainly ask if we could have him again. “He’s worked well with us and has been important. I hope the lad feels that he’s benefited from being with us, but we think he has.” With The Well still waiting for confirmation of their qualification for next season’s Europa League via the Uefa Fair Play award, an ill tempered clash at New Douglas Park threatened to put a dampener on the campaign. And, whilst McGhee feels that the referee could perhaps have dealt with the game slightly better, he remains unconcerned about his team’s disciplinary record. He added: “Clarkson got booked after being booted all over the place. And Maros Klimpl seemed determined to get a yellow card. “But I don’t think a couple of bookings will keep us out of Europe."

Offishel website has Hughes as having been booked in the last minute. Certain it had been Maros.
-
Over the past three games we've had 3 bookings, Saint Mirren 2. Just means, I think, in terms of cards we are still 2 less than they have had to this point. I know there's other factors, and over the recent piece we're certainly going to pick up more points overall than they are. According to ESPN that equates to a four-point lead, but as I say, there are other factors involved. Two stunning away wins now in 7 days. A little late I know, but very welcome all the same.
